Chapter 23

Clara looked at him with perplexity. Why was he mean and sounded so profound? Also, if he was aware she was at the supermarket, why was he asking?

“Yeah.. I wanted to get a few things but it didn't work out anymore.”

“Okay,” Alex responded. The feeling of jealousy and mistrust was already all over him but he needed to control himself.

Clara knew that all was not well but she was not able to figure out what it was.

Before Alex came back, she had this eagerness to tell him everything that happened. But now that he is here, the zeal isn't there any longer.

“How did it go at the office?” She finally asked, Alex mentioned that he had a lot of work to do.

“Great,” Alex answered back, not even having a glance at her.

Clara didn't know if she was overthinking but Alex was behaving unlike himself.

Alex on his end didn't know how to go about everything. Is there nothing else she wants to tell me? If I didn't ask her about the supermarket, she wouldn't even tell me.

“I got dinner.” Clara broke t
