I thought I was the only one applying today, but there were many others. Those ahead of me were already in their interviews, while others were waiting to be called.

We were on the 3rd floor, lined up in an empty office for the interviews. A staff member was collecting our biodata, and then they would call us one by one. This was my first time, so I was really nervous.

I took a biscuit from my small black bag and ate it quickly. I suddenly got hungry. This happens when I’m nervous. I need to eat or chew something to calm my nerves. There were more than twenty applicants, and I could see the nervousness on the faces of my fellow applicants. I wanted to make friends, but they seemed to dislike me, so I ignored them to avoid seeing their glares. As if they were guaranteed the job because of their attitude?

Let’s see, we’re not in a position to brag and glare.

Especially since we’re on CCTV. I waved and made cute peace signs to let the CCTV monitor know I was kind and not grumpy. My fellow applicants saw me, and they gave me insulting smiles. Jealousy, huh.

We watched for the door to open, meaning the previous applicants’ interviews were finished. If they had sad faces, it meant they didn’t pass. Those with wide smiles had a chance of being hired and would be contacted by phone. Others had wide smiles when they left the room, and we thought they passed, but they didn’t. They were just happy because there were handsome guys inside, and it was their first time seeing the two young men, so they were thrilled.

Tsk, I don’t know what’s wrong with these women. Did they apply for work to see their boss every day if they got hired, or did they just apply to see handsome guys and didn’t care if they didn’t pass? What kind of mindset is that? Well, even if they didn’t pass, they got to see handsome guys for free. Handsome guys, my head, tsk.

I, on the other hand, was chill. If I get hired, great. If not, it’s okay, it’s tiring. I made an effort to look good, wear nice clothes that I bought from a thrift store, and even took a jeep to avoid ruining my makeup, even though my chest was squeezed because of how crowded it was earlier. That crazy driver and conductor, and I was also careful not to get my clothes dirty, so I had no choice but to ride the jeep, even though I had bad luck on the jeep earlier, and my butt almost became one fourth of the seat. That conductor was annoying. The “one more, one more” thing was irritating.

There were only ten applicants left waiting outside. I felt the urge to pee, so I decided to go since the line was long before my turn. I told the woman behind me that I was sitting in front of her, but she just glared at me. We’ll see who’s laughing when I pass, huh.

Since I really needed to pee, I turned around and walked away from them to find a restroom.

I pressed the elevator button when I got there, thinking there would be many restrooms downstairs, and if there were any on this floor, there would only be a few on the third floor. But I didn’t know where they were because there were no signs. I might get lost and wander around the third floor all afternoon because there were so many doors.

As I entered the elevator and pressed the button, the folder I was carrying fell, and some of my biodata and other papers with writing or certificates fell to the floor. At least I’ll have something to give if they ask for them during the interview.

“Haizt, what a day. Hopefully, this is the only bad luck, and later I’ll hear a big congratulations.” I talked to myself. There’s a saying, right? After the rain, the sun will shine. Just like my bad luck today. Hopefully, I’ll have good luck later.

I heard the elevator click, and I immediately stood straight and walked out without looking back, clutching my folder. I looked for the receptionist’s table in the building, where I asked earlier, to ask again where the toilet was, but no matter how much I looked around, I couldn’t find it. And why were there so few people here? Is this building new? Why is it so big if no one is renting or using the large space? That’s why, because I ended up on the fourteenth floor. I got lost. I pressed the wrong button. What bad luck.

“This life is a trip.”

I ignored it, and thankfully, while looking for the restroom, I saw a single restroom. In a hurry, I immediately went inside and into a cubicle. Even though I was surprised by the style of their restroom, I ignored it. What mattered now was relieving myself.

After doing my business, I immediately went out of the cubicle.

But I suddenly froze. There was a man in the restroom. I lowered my eyes, and I didn’t expect what I saw. My eyes widened as they went back to his face.

“Ahhh!” We both screamed.

“Who the hell are you?” he snapped, quickly zipping up. I closed my eyes while pointing at him, not knowing the right direction because I didn’t know if what I saw earlier was real or just his fist? It was long!

“Who are you? Are you harassing me? You’re so shameless!” I accused him.

“What? This is the men’s restroom. Why are you here?” I opened my eyes at his words. He was standing straight, looking me over.

“What? What men’s restroom?” I looked around, and he was right. This wasn’t a women’s restroom. It was different. So, I peed in the men’s room? The heck. And when I saw the sign on the back of the door, it was a drawing of a male sign, not a female one. Lord, forgive me. I didn’t mean to see that.

“What are you doing in the men’s restroom? Are you spying on us?”

“Spying? Hey! This face wouldn’t do that. No way. And why would I do that? First, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was here to pee while waiting for my turn at the job interview, and I think you are, too? We’re both applying for a job, am I right or wrong? So don’t accuse me. I might report you to the barangay. I’m close to our barangay captain!” I threatened him, hands on my hips.

He didn’t say anything and just looked at me, so I rolled my eyes and turned away.

“Excuse me, brother!”

"Girlfriend huh!" "Why? Don't you like it, boss? Don't worry, I meant girl friend, and nothing more in what I said to that woman. And I think it's the same with you, right? That… you just meant boy friend for me?" I asked him, and I saw how his eyebrows furrowed again and his jaw tightened, maybe because of what I said? I don't know. I think what I said was right. "You think so?" I smiled at his question. Again… I don't want to add to whatever else I feel for him, if there is anything, but I know him as my boss and sibling. As a brother… yes, he's just my brother in his mommy's eyes, but in the eyes of others, he's a boss that many look up to, especially women. When we got to the house, I saw that it was quiet, and I didn't see anyone outside. Maybe they forgot that it's my birthday today. It's okay, Unique, Mama and Papa called to greet me this morning, and maybe they didn't know what time I was arriving, or they thought I wouldn't come home. It's okay, I'll remind them that i

"Ouch! What?" I slapped his shoulder again because he was still joking around while I was annoyed with him. "You really know a lot, boss, don't you," I said to him when we got into the car. I put on my seatbelt and still glared at him, while he still had a smile on his face. "Huh? Where?" "Stop pretending. You're just saying things to other people about us. Why are you even saying boyfriend, boyfriend, huh?" "What? What about what I said?" Wow! This guy thinks differently. "Of course, they might believe it. You could have said we're siblings, why boyfriend?" His jaw suddenly tightened because of what I said. He stared sharply at the road while gripping the steering wheel tightly. "What's wrong with that? We're not siblings, shit...what?" This guy is really crazy, so I couldn't help but hurt him. He's grumpy, then later he'll have a wide smile again. "I know… I know we're not siblings, but you added to my explanation to other people. If not siblings, at least… just someone you

I slowly opened my eyes and saw the white ceiling. Even now, I'm still not used to waking up in a different room. It feels like I'm in a cage, struggling to move because it's so cramped. Here, I don't own anything, it all belongs to the Legaspi family, especially this bed I'm sleeping on. It's so comfortable, the mattress is so soft, I could roll around all day. I sighed and turned to my side, but I was surprised to see Kuya Izaak standing beside my bed, looking down at me. "Brother Izaak, have you been here for a while?" I asked him. He was looking at me and smiled. "Not really, I've only been waiting for you to wake up for ten or fifteen minutes." Huh? "Why? Do you have somewhere to go today and need to say goodbye to me, or are you going to kick me out of–" I immediately sat up in bed because of what I was thinking. "Happy birthday, Unique Mahinhin—" "Okay, happy birthday to me too, hey, what? Omg, it's my birthday, thank you. I almost forgot," I said shyly, and he laughed.

"Are you really sure you don't want to come with me, baby?" Mommy asked me again, as I was helping her pack clothes because she and Daddy have a business trip to Dubai tomorrow and their flight is early. She wants to take me along, but it's my birthday this month, and Mama and Papa might get mad that I didn't go home, as we agreed.Besides, they'll be there in another country for a whole month to make the most of it."I don't feel like traveling far, Mommy, so I'm sorry. I hope you understand." Mommy took off her eyeglasses and placed them on the small table. Mommy's eyesight is getting weak, so she needs to wear eyeglasses, especially when reading."It's okay, baby. If your Kuya Izaak didn't have work, he would probably come along, but he does, so your Daddy and I can't do anything about it. And you don't want to either, but we understand because sometimes, you're really scared to travel, especially when we're not with you." I nodded at what Ma'am Maribel said because Sir Izaak also

“I said get out of my room! Leave!” I shooed him away. He just shrugged while finishing his cake. I wanted to eat that cake too, it looked delicious, but because he gave it to me, I lost my appetite. “No! I’m going to stay here. Mommy said I should apologize, but without your forgiveness, I won’t leave here until you make me laugh.” he said. I stood with my hands on my hips, looking down at him as he sat on the edge of my bed, still eating cake while looking up at me. He seemed to want to tempt me with the cake, which looked delicious, but because I’m angry with him, whatever. “Well, you were crazy earlier. And you expect me to forgive you immediately? You even left me in the car without coming back, and you don’t know how many tears I wasted! And now! You’ll suddenly apologize because Mommy said so? No way, Mr. Legaspi, so get out of my room, and I’ll sleep.” I tried again to get rid of him, but he wouldn’t leave, in short, he’s stubborn. I lay down on the bed because I was slee

“What the heck?! Let go of me!” I snapped at him. He tightened his grip on my left wrist even more. “What’s your problem, huh?” I asked him while we were in the car. He looked at me, and I was surprised when he suddenly hit the steering wheel with his right hand. “Fuck! Damn it!” He cursed. “Are you cursing at me?” I angrily accused him as I hit his shoulder, quite hard, so he glared at me. “I’m angry, but I’m not cursing at you!” “You’re not angry, and you’re not cursing at me. Then what do you call what you’re doing to me, huh? Unless you’re cursing because you hit the steering wheel, then you’re stupid, you did that yourself.” “Unique—” “Oh, what? Isn’t it true, or are you really cursing at me! What’s my fault, Izaak? What? What?” I kept asking while hitting his shoulder again. I hate being cursed at without knowing what my fault is. “You know what made me angry! You’re pretending!” “Well, I don’t know!” My voice almost rose too. I didn’t care if someone outside heard or
