Thorne Matthews

"Why are you smelling like fried pig fat when you should be getting your wolf ready for the Moonfang Harvest House shift?" Ellis Johnson shifts the gears of his beat-up mechanical carriage, the metal rattling hard as we roll through the lower territory.

I lean my large head back against the seat, sighing deeply. "Sokka and Randall Kirkland were snarling at the breakfast table when I walked in. Randall was complaining about the burnt meat. You know Sokka cannot cook anything right unless it is boiled wild grass."

Ellis lets out a massive bark of laughter, nearly running us into a ditch. "Burnt meat? That is what started the growling? Randall better watch his throat, because Sokka will rip his fur out if he pushes too far."

"Oh, Sokka was ready to bite," I say, a small smirk moving my lips. "Told him if he did not like it, he could take his sorry rogue ass off our pack land. Randall told him he ought to hold him down and force him to eat it. Then Sokka told him he would be limping out of the Raven Hollow Pack Settlement forever if he tried it."

Ellis slaps the wooden steering wheel, cackling loud. "Randall needs to stop playing with a rabid wolf. Sokka is crazy. He really would make him limp."

"I left before the claws came out," I say, shaking my head. "I just do not get him. He takes that rogue back every time just to get more silver-dust and more fights."

Ellis rolls his eyes. "Thorne, you act like this is new. That is the thousandth time he took that pack trader back. Sokka just wants a dominant male around, even a bad one."

I give a small laugh, but my chest feels heavy. "Speaking of dominant males... Ellis Boyd sent a message to my communication crystal last night."

Ellis Johnson whips his head around so fast his neck cracks. "What? And you did not lead with that?"

"It was nothing great, trust me," I say, crossing my thick arms over my chest. "He asked what I was doing, then told me he just dropped off Trudy Bennett."

Ellis groans loudly. "Who cares about Trudy? I knew that fake little wolf was going to try and lock down his mate bond as soon as he got that Alpha Warrior Champion buzz."

"Exactly," I say, my voice dropping. "Then he asked if he should get serious with her. Said she wants a real pack bond now, but he does not get why because she has been curving his male attention since they were young pups."

Ellis lets out a sharp laugh. "I hope you told him hell no. She does not want his wolf; she wants the pack resources that come with the champion title. There is no Trudy without the capital gold."

"I told him to focus on his training and leave relationships alone," I say. "But he had to tell me she has great heat. I did not need to hear that."

Ellis gasps loud. "He said that to you? Oh, no. He is playing mind games with your feelings, Thorne. Why do you let him get away with that?"

"What am I supposed to say?" I mutter, looking down at my large, heavy hands. "I cannot tell him how my wolf really feels. We always talk about things like that. I do not want to ruin our friendship just because I have feelings and he does not."

"He needs to know what is up," Ellis says firmly. "Or you need to start giving Frank Pratt a real chance. You have been dragging your feet on that courtship for too long."

"I am thinking about it," I admit, though my stomach twists.

Ellis turns to me with a sly grin. "Oh, so now you want him?"

"Do not push it," I laugh, my face burning. "Frank— he is just not my type. You know I am not into those soft-furred, light-skinned wolves. I mean, he is not ugly or anything."

"No, he is not ugly at all with his pretty Drake-looking face," Ellis laughs. "He hates when I say that."

I chuckle. "Just like you hate when he calls you Donna Matthews or Big Glo."

"Because I do not look like Donna!"

I just stare at him. "Brother, I hate to check your wolf, but you do look like Donna Matthews. Everybody says it, including Ellis Boyd."

Ellis growls playfully at me. "Fuck Ellis Boyd and his long-legged wolf form."

"Why do you get so mad anyway? Donna is a cute male wolf," I tease, mocking the royal pack accent.

Victor Stevens pulled the heavy timber doors of the Boyd Moonkeep shut, his dark golden wolf eyes burning in the dim candlelight. He stripped off his leather hunting vest, tossing it onto the table before stepping up to Ellis Johnson, his bare chest glistening with rain and sweat."I didn't bring you to the Moonkeep to stand there talking about my sister, Ellis," Victor rumbled, his voice dropping into a dangerous, heavy Alpha frequency that sent a sharp shudder down my spine.Ellis gripped the edge of the carved oak counter, his claws extending slightly into the wood as his breathing hitched. "You brought me here to keep me out of Boyd's way while he deals with Sokka.""I brought you here because I've wanted to mark you since the night the Matthews Moonfang Pack fell," Victor said smoothly, closing the distance between them until his towering frame completely shadowed Ellis. He reached out, his thick, calloused fingers pinning Ellis’s chin, forcing the smaller wolf to look him dead i

"Take me to the Boyd Moonkeep then, Victor," Ellis Johnson growled from the passenger seat of the newly gifted territory runner, his voice thick with a sudden rise in his wolf's dominant aura. "Unless you're scared your sister Sokka is going to catch us trespassing on Stevens Silverclaw Royal Pack land."Victor Stevens shifted the gears of the sleek, blacked-out transport, his heavy gold signet ring catching the glow of the dashboard lights as we sped past the Ironfang Feast Hall. "Sokka doesn't run my life, Ellis. And my step-uncle Boyd gave me direct orders to keep Thorne safe until the Grand Wolf Assembly convenes."I sat in the back, my heavy, swollen belly pressing against my leather trousers as my twin heirs stirred violently beneath my palm. My true mate bond with Boyd Stevens was throbbing like a raw wound against my collarbone, feeding me his distant rage and dark possessive heat all the way from Alpha Dominion Hall."You really think Boyd is going to protect him?" Ellis spat

"You're calling me 'Ellis' now, Thorne?" Boyd Stevens rumbled through the speaker of Ellis's phone, his voice laced with that heavy Alpha frequency that made the hair on my arms stand up.I held the device steady, my jaw clenching as the screen showed my step-uncle sitting in the dark leather chair inside Boyd Moonkeep. He was stripped down to a thin tunic, his broad chest rising and falling, his dark golden eyes locked onto mine through the glass."That's the name you use when you're acting like a stranger, Boyd," I said, my voice flat, holding the phone close so Ellis Johnson wouldn't miss a single word. "And right now, you're the biggest stranger in the Silverclaw Dominion.""Thorne, don't do this over a damn mind-link or a phone call," Boyd growled, his jaw ticking as his wolf stirred visibly behind his eyes. "Where are you? Victor said the Silverclaw Guest Lodge was completely empty when he pulled up.""I left," I said simply, resting my hand on my heavy, swollen belly as the twin

"Don't get too attached to that glow, Thorne," Sokka said, stepping further into the Silverclaw Guest Lodge, his designer leather trench coat sweeping around his boots as his cold gaze pinned me. "My step-uncle might be keeping you safe in this lodge for now, but once those twin heirs leave your body, you're back to being nothing in the Silverclaw Pack."My fingers tightened into fists at my sides, my wolf snarling under my skin. I smoothed down my loose linen shirt over my heavy belly, resting my palm right over the pulse of my unborn pups."Boyd makes sure I have everything I need, Sokka," I said, keeping my voice level and hard. "He set up tight security around the Silvermoon Healing Sanctuary for my brother Abby, and he checks on this lodge himself."Sokka let out a soft, mocking laugh, taking a slow step toward me until the scent of his synthetic perfumes almost choked out the rain outside. "Is that what you tell yourself to feel important? He checks on his heirs, Thorne. Not on

"Don't move, Boyd," Sokka whispered, his hand pressing against his bruised neck as he backed away toward the edge of the sectional in my private quarters within the Stevens Silverclaw Citadel. "If you touch me again, the Grand Wolf Assembly will strip your title as Supreme Alpha Lord before the next full moon."I clutched my heavy, swollen belly, the sharp pain from the forced cramp tearing through my lower abdomen as I glared at Sokka. My wolf growled, deep and lethal, the heat of the true mate bond flaring beneath my skin where my mark pulsed against my shoulder."You don't get to threaten him, Sokka," I rasped, my voice trembling with raw anger as I held onto Boyd's heavy leather belt for support. "You forged the documents at the Silvermoon Healing Sanctuary. You hid the Moon Goddess Prophecy and tried to use me as a Sacred Moonbearer just to keep control of the First Alpha Legacy!"Sokka let out a bitter, blood-stained laugh, wiping a drop of crimson from his jawline. "You think y

"You don't have to worry about my mouth, Leila," Dr. Kristi Miller said, leaning back against the sleek mahogany bar in her private quarters within the Silvermoon Healing Sanctuary. "The Alpha Council would have my head if they knew I cleared Thorne Matthews for the Sacred Moonbearer contract after his original pack collapsed."I pressed my back against the cold stone outside the cracked door of the sanctuary's private study, my heart hammering like a trapped wolf against my ribs.My palm flattened over my heavy, swollen belly, feeling the distinct, powerful kick of the twin heirs inside me."Boyd Stevens doesn't know a damn thing," Sokka's voice growled from inside the room, thick with the scent of bitter fire-whiskey and territorial rage. "He thinks Thorne is just some broken wolf from the Matthews Moonfang Pack carrying his bloodline. If he knew that Thorne is actually his true fated mate—that the Eternal Moonmark lit up his chest the night they met outside the Blood Moon Tavern—Bo
