Rhea's POV

“None of us are comfortable with your presence here. It'll be best for you to leave.” I said firmly, no trace of friendliness in my voice. Richard could only stand there, staring at me with eyes that could send me to the grave and back. Not that I had not been to the grave already.

“Alright then.” Richard straightened himself up, “I'll be out of your hair. We'll meet again next time, in a more formal setting.”

I nodded nonchalantly, watching as he left the drawing room. The moment his back disappeared, I let out a sigh or more like a breath of relief. How did Alaric deal with this man every day until it was finally over?

“Mom.” Alaric's voice brought me out of my thoughts and I turned to face Elena, who looked less pale. I just noticed that there was a wound at the side of her head that was still bleeding. I motioned for one of the servants walking around to come nearby.

“Please bring me your first aid.”

She nodded and left, a few minutes later, she brought

Rhea's Pov "Mr. Morrieti," I said, my voice steady despite the rush of adrenaline coursing through me. I dipped my head in a respectful greeting, acknowledging the man who had been a ghost in his own life for far too long. Up close, Marcello Morrieti was striking, a man whose features were carved from the same hard, uncompromising stone as his reputation. Even after years of supposed decline, he possessed a magnetic, dangerous handsomeness that made it easy to see why a woman like Hillary would have been drawn to him. Marcello turned his gaze toward me, and for a fleeting moment, the lethal intensity in his expression softened. "Miss Rhea," he said, his voice deep and raspy, as if it hadn't been used for anything more than whispers in a long time. "I owe you a debt I can never truly repay. Thank you for your help during all this time. Thank you for protecting my daughter when I couldn't. Thank you so much, from the bottom of a father's heart."The weight of his gratitude was heavy,

Rhea's Pov Sally let out a sharp scoff, she looked like a woman who still believed she held the strings. She straightened her spine, pulling herself up from Beatrice’s side. "Ending?" Sally repeated, her voice dripping with a venomous mockery. She brushed a stray, silver-blond hair from her face, her eyes narrowing into slits of pure malice. "You truly are a naive little girl, Rhea. Do you think a video and some digital numbers on a screen are enough to bring down the Taylors? Do you think the foundations I’ve built over decades can be toppled over by a commoner like you?” Sally laughed again, her eyes rolling. “Nothing is going to end for us. Not tonight, not ever. We will get what we want, the Giovanni estate, the Morrieti legacy, all of it, no matter what we have to do. We’ve survived worse than you, and we’ll survive this."I shook my head slowly, my gaze sweeping over the two of them, the mother clinging to a dying fantasy and the daughter staring at me from the floor."You’re

Rhea's Pov As the guards reached out to grab her arms, the paralyzing shock finally broke, replaced by a desperate, screeching voice. "Get your hands off me!" Sally shrieked. She struggled against the guards. "Rhea, you common girl! You’re going to regret this! You'll regret this!” Beside her, Beatrice was even louder. "This is a setup! You’re all witnessing a kidnapping!" she screamed at the crowd, her eyes bulging. "Laziel, how can you let this trash do this to us? She's nothing but trash! A commoner!” I stood perfectly still, my expression a mask of cold indifference. I didn't trade insults with them, it would be beneath me. I simply watched them as they were dragged toward the exits. I took a deep, steadying breath and turned my attention back to the center of the room. Monte was still standing there. Unlike Sally and Beatrice, he hadn't resorted to screaming. He stood with a stiff, brittle dignity, his hands clenched so tightly at his sides that I could see the tremors trave

Rhea's Pov Monte, who had been standing in the shadows, finally stepped forward. His face was a mask of cold fury, his hands clenched at his sides. "This is slander," he growled, his voice echoing through the hall. "You’re slandering us in front of the entire city. Do you have any idea what the legal repercussions are for this? You say we worked together? Provide the evidence, Rhea. Or be prepared to spend the rest of your life in a cell."I looked at Monte, then back at Sally. I felt a slow, dark smile spreading across my lips."Evidence?" I repeated softly. "You want evidence?"I looked toward the center of the hall, where a massive, state-of-the-art television screen had been set up to display a montage of Giovanni family history later in the evening. The guests followed my gaze, their breath hitched in their chests."I’m so glad you asked," I said. I raised my hand and clapped twice. The lights in the hall dimmed automatically, and the massive screen hummed to life. The high-defi

Rhea's Pov The gasps this time were deafening. Sally turned deathly pale, her mouth hanging open as she struggled to find air. Beatrice looked as if she might faint, her eyes darting around the room as her social standing evaporated in a single sentence."You speak of 'outsiders' and 'family values,'" Laziel continued, his voice dripping with disdain. "But you are nothing more than a vulgar opportunist wrapped in expensive clothing. Your presence here is an affront to the word 'family.' You are not a grandmother, not at all. You're a scourge to this earth, if we had less people like you, maybe the world would be a better place.” Beatrice opened her mouth to screech a retort, her face twisted in a mask of indignant rage, but Sally’s hand clamped down on her daughter’s arm like a vice. I watched Sally’s face closely. The muscles in her jaw were tight, and I could see the angry twitch of her lips, a frantic, rhythmic pulsing that betrayed fury that was boiling in her heart. She looked

Rhea's Pov The tension in the Grand Hall was like fire licking at the skin of people. The air felt thick and charged with the electricity that Sally threw at me with her eyes. I felt Neveah’s small fingers tighten around mine. I pulled her closer, my body was a shield between her and the venomous women standing before us.Beatrice Taylor looked like a woman possessed. The way I had dismissed her mother had been her last straw. She stepped forward. "You've got a lot of nerve," Beatrice spat, her voice vibrating angrily. She looked me up and down, her eyes lingering on my jewelry and my gown as if they were stolen goods. "A commoner like you shouldn't even have the guts to stand in front of us, let alone speak. Do you really think that wearing a designer dress and standing in this hall makes you one of us, Rhea? Look at yourself. You’re a nobody. If it wasn't for you clinging onto the Giovanni family like a starving parasite, would you really have any relevance at all? You’d be back in
