Irene's POV

“Uh…do you mind? But I need Damian's house address.” I said.

To be honest I barely registered the route he took when he drove me down his place talk more of his block number of name.

But it looked like a residence, with estate gates and all.

“You mean Mr Russo's home.” He confirmed and I let out a breath, ruffling my hair.

“Damian. Russo. Whatever. What does it matter? Just text me the address.”. Frustration creeped in my voice but I hardly gave a fuck.

  • CHASE ME, HUSBAND   The other thing

Irene's POV My phone beeped, vibrating against the table as I clicked away on my laptop.I've piled up assignments that my drafts were screaming for space. With my eyes glued to the screen, I blindly tried to take up my phone but it stopped ringing so I put it back.“Gbhjkkikk.” I muttered, squinting my eyes to read smaller text when my phone started ringing again.I knew it was Mia..She'd been on my neck blowing my phone up because of her last request.I should convince my in-laws I wanted to have my party over at their place or she'd tell on me.That bitch. The frustrated part of me wanted to yell in her face and tell her to get on with it.But the aftermath wasn't worth it.Hissing under my breath because the ringtone pierced through my ears and I was stsrting to type the wrong letters into the system.I yawned, stretching before I lazily picked it up.Damian.My heart skipped a beat and I swallowed before picking it up.“Hey.”“How are you?” He asked.Catching a strand of my hai

Irene's POV Something cold ran through me at Mike's words.“A bulky case in hight school?”“Whatever do you use your phone, oh child?” Mike mimicked the old English tone. But I found myself digesting the information.“The bully case comes up every year around his brother's death anniversary. So I found out.” Mike said.Pressing my palm against my forehead, I felt fever run through me at it.It was like I keep getting to junction where I unravel a new personality of Damian at each step.More like a ghh game. I kept taking the layers off but it never seemed to end.“What do you they say happened?”“He got on the bad side of one of his victims and they targeted his brother for revenge.”“It happened back in Italy. Now that I thought of it, maybe that's why he permanently relocated here.”Was this true? How much authencity was in those papers and blog posts..But in the a small part of my mind, a voice warned me to trust it.The way he'd sounded with my dad from over the phone. The disgu

Damian's POV “The wedding shower. God, I can't believe I thought you said baby shower.” I said the last sentence under my breath. She burst into a laugh. Her expression brightened up, her almond eyes crinkling and her pouty lips stretching.Relief washed over me seeing her smile like that.It felt all she had to do to get me out of my fffffggg was that very bright smile that seemed to lighten up the world. My world. I think she was my own personal sunshine.“I can't believe you thought it was a baby shower.” She pressed a palm to her belly, doubling over as she laughed. The corner of my lips pulled up in a small smile as I watched her.I could watch her all day.She leaned further, her back close to the door I knew she'd left open.Fear gripped my chest as she swayed towards the door and I reached for her, just in time to catch her arm.“That's enough now. Go in.” I said, trying not to sound harsh but stun flashed in her eyes as she pulled back.“Geez I know the door was open. Relax

Irene’s pov “Stop acting dumb.” I slurred into the receiver, my eyelid growing heavy as I struggled to keep my weight against the wall.“Are you drunk?” He asked.“Come on, set carnepea here, Mia, hurry.” Layla called, her voice ringing through the cracked door.I was at the balcony, leaning against the railings, a glass of bourbon in my hand, even if mom lectures me about it, I was still sipping it.My bachelorette party was in a few days and Mom, Layla and some of her friends from the club were gggh about it, decorating my apartment and all.Mom wanted me to have it at our house but Layla suggested we do it in my own apartment, it’ll be part of my last memories as a spinster so it had to be my own way.“No. I’m… maybe…” I stopped, biting down on my lips as the rich bass of his voice stirred heat low in my belly. This man. I didn’t like what his effect does on me. I didn’t hate it either.“Oh ok. Just wanted to—““Don’t say it.” I cut in, hissing under my breath.“Don’t say you’re c
