Liam’s POV

My study had become my second skin a place where silence was easier than sleep and control was easier than thought..

A knock came.

“Come in.”

Ivan stepped in, posture sharp, expression unreadable. A black folder rested in his hand.

“Sir. The information you requested.”

I motioned him closer and took it. Sleek. Heavy. Confidential.

“Anything else?” I asked.

“Only what’s in the file,” he said smoothly.

“And… nothing that raises concern.”

Concern. Interesting choice of word.

Liam’s POVSleep never came.I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling while my phone rested in my hand. The last conversation with Ava replayed over and over again.“I don’t think we should keep doing this.”She had sounded exhausted. Not angry. Not frustrated. Just… tired.I unlocked my phone again. Still nothing. No reply.I sighed before typing another message.Liam: Angel, please talk to me.A few seconds passed.Nothing.I typed another.Liam: I’m not giving up on us.Again…No reply.I rubbed my forehead before sending another.Liam: We’ll figure this out together.Silence.I looked at the time, 2:17 a.m.Normal people were asleep. Apparently, I wasn’t normal anymore.I leaned back against the headboard before typing one final message.Liam: I’m coming to see you tomorrow. You’re going to hear me out whether you like it or not.I dropped the phone onto the bedside table. For the first time in years, I felt completely helpless. No business deal had ever made me feel this way, no bo

  • CLAIMED BY THE BILLIONAIRE    CHAPTER 50

Ava’s POVSaturday mornings always felt different. No office. No meetings. No endless reports waiting on my desk.Instead, I found myself standing behind the counter of my mother’s restaurant with an apron tied around my waist. It had been weeks since I’d last helped here.“Finally decided to remember us?” Isa teased as she arranged freshly baked pies inside the display case.I laughed.“I’ve been busy.”“So busy that your own mother has to schedule appointments before seeing you?”“Mama.”She smiled.“I’m joking.”“I know.”The restaurant was already half full. Customers chatted over coffee while soft country music played from the speakers.“Table five needs coffee,” Mom called from behind the counter.“I’ve got it.”I picked up the pot before making my way across the restaurant.“Here you go.”“Thank you, sweetheart.”I smiled before moving on to the next table.Working here wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t luxurious, but it was honest and I loved it, especially because it meant spending

Liam's POVBy the time I got back to the mansion, it was already past eleven. The entire house was quiet. I barely stepped into the living room before I saw her.Margaret Reynolds. She sat exactly where I expected her to be, a cup of untouched tea resting on the table beside her.She looked up the moment I walked in."So." I loosened the cuffs of my shirt. "You wanted to see me.""I did."Neither of us sat. For a few seconds, we simply looked at each other. Then she spoke."I've heard you've become... quite distracted lately.""I don't know what you mean.""Don't insult my intelligence, Liam. You're seeing Ava Morales."There was no point denying it."I am."Margaret nodded once, almost as if she'd expected the answer."Then this conversation is long overdue."I folded my arms. "I'm listening."She stood gracefully before walking toward the large windows overlooking the garden."Do you know why this family has survived for generations?"I didn't answer."Because every Reynolds underst

Ava's POVThe gala ended almost an hour later. I didn't wait for Elena or Stacy. The second the final speeches were over, I quietly slipped out of the ballroom before anyone could stop me.Outside, the cool night air hit my face.It didn't help.Margaret's words still echoed inside my head.Genevieve Langley is the woman suited to become Mrs. Reynolds. Not every story is meant to become a fairytale.I pulled out my phone and booked an Uber.Five minutes later, it arrived. The ride home felt endless.New York rushed past the window in bright lights, but I barely noticed any of it.My mind kept replaying the conversation.Margaret hadn't shouted, she hadn't threatened me, she hadn't even been rude. She'd simply smiled and made it painfully clear that I didn't belong.I rested my forehead against the window and closed my eyes.Maybe she was right.Maybe people like Liam and people like me were never meant to exist in the same world. The thought hurt more than I wanted to admit.About fo

Ava's POVThe annual Reynolds Holdings Charity Gala was already in full swing by the time I arrived.Crystal chandeliers lit up the ballroom while soft classical music drifted through the air. Business executives, politicians and some of New York's wealthiest families moved from one conversation to another with practiced smiles.I adjusted the sleeve of my navy evening gown before taking a slow breath."You look nervous."I looked beside me.Elena smiled knowingly."I'm not nervous.""You've said that three times.""I have not.""You have."Stacy laughed. "Relax, Ava. Nobody here bites.""I'm not worried about getting bitten."Elena grinned."You're worried about running into one particular billionaire."Heat rushed to my cheeks immediately."I am not.""Mhm."Before either of them could continue teasing me, Mrs. Stewart approached us."There you are."We all turned toward her."The CEO’s family has arrived."Almost instinctively...My eyes searched the ballroom. And then I found him.

Liam's POVMonday mornings always started the same way. Meetings, reports, numbers.Today was no different. The boardroom was already filled by the time I walked in. Adrian sat on my right while Ivan stood quietly near the screen with today's presentation prepared. Department heads occupied their usual seats, including the Research and Analysis team.Ava sat a few seats away with a file open in front of her.She looked up briefly when I entered.Just one glance. Professional and calm.As though yesterday's date had never happened.I almost smiled."Good morning, everyone."The room echoed with greetings before everyone settled.A few minutes later, the boardroom doors opened again.Sebastian Cross walked in with two executives behind him, Adams following closely with a tablet in hand."Mr. Reynolds.""Mr. Cross."Sebastian smiled politely."I appreciate you agreeing to this meeting.""I agreed to hear your proposal.""Fair enough."We shook hands before everyone took their seats.Ivan

The sun was bright when Damien and I reached the park. He held my hand until we stepped onto the grass, then he let go and ran ahead, full of energy. She insists.”I straightened in my chair
