“Your Majesty,” Lord Venric, his tone coated in skepticism, “are you certain that these…these orders are necessary? Some say…”

‎I sit upright and glance at him, eyes narrowing. “Some say?” I ask, voice calm but sharp as a dagger. “That our people should have waited, hidden, begged for mercy? That’s the counsel you bring to me, in front of the court? That's the order I should've given out?”

‎Lord Venric pales. “N-no, Your Majesty… I only meant…”

‎“You only meant,” I repeat, letting my words hang like ice in the air. “That my judgment might be clouded? That perhaps… I am not fit to lead?”

‎A stifled gasp rolls through the chamber. Heads turn. Eyes widen as I say their very thoughts out loud.

‎I smile, faint and dangerous. “Let me remind you, the attacks were not my choice alone, but the inevitable consequence of our enemies daring to think we are weak.”

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEMON KING: DARK ROMANCE   201| Throne of Whispers

ELARA'S POVThe palace feels heavier than it did yesterday.‎Every corner smells of tension, burned incense and a faint tang of fear, the aftermath of what Anita has done.I walk towards the throne room, two guards by my side. I'm to address the court council alone, without Dravon. Dravon is currently in a closed door meeting with the war council and Pack's security team in the court room, leaving me to face the court council in the throne room. I'm to give them a report of yesterday's visit to the destroyed villages. It'll be my first time addressing them without Dravon by my side so I'm slightly nervous. The grand doors of the throne room swing open, and I stride inside, my Queen’s cloak brushing the polished marble floors. The nobles glance up from their murmured debates, their whispers rising like an uneasy wind. Unlike the court room which has seats for all to settle down, the throne room only has a throne for the King and Queen. The entire council members stand, huddled to a si

~Elara~‎‎They move fast, including the welfare team, entering into burnt homes, checking for people hiding in fear or the wounded. There's an eerily silence. It’s the kind of silence that feels alive, waiting.‎‎I kneel beside a fallen woman. She's a young she-wolf, barely older than me when I first came to Winterwood. Her eyes are open, glassy. There’s no fear left, only stillness.‎‎Her hand still grips something. I pry it gently open. It’s a charm, a small wolf carved from bone. A protection amulet.‎‎It didn’t protect her.‎‎“Dravon,” I call softly. “They didn’t even have time to fight back.”‎‎He joins me, crouching beside the body. His jaw tightens. “Silver burns on her wounds. They were hunted.”‎‎My stomach twists. “Anita’s wolves.”‎‎He doesn’t answer. He doesn’t have to.‎‎I look around again. Every burned home, every body, every trace of destruction, all of it is a message. Anita didn’t just attack, she performed this massacre. How did she gather such a huge norma

ELARA'S POV‎Within hours, the Pack erupts into chaos. The healing facilities around have been filled with the wounded, even the royal infirmary is packed. Emergency horns sound across the Pack, signalling for people to be alert. The palace is no different as everyone is filled with fear. Messengers race through the hall bringing different letters from Alphas across the kingdom. The war council, court council as well as all security personnel have been summoned.‎I stand beside Dravon at the head of the long oak table, staring at the digital maps displayed before us. The red markers spread like spilled blood across our borders.‎‎“How many casualties?” I ask.‎‎“Too many,” answers Micheal grimly. “Dozens dead. Survivors say Anita’s wolves fought with silver-coated claws. Ruthless. No mercy.”‎‎I grip the edge of the table. “And Calistra?”‎‎Micheal’s eyes darken. “Rumor says she’s with her.”‎‎Of course she is.‎‎The two women who once swore to ruin me are now back, and this ti

~Elara~The morning starts with silence. Not the peaceful kind, but the heavy, eerie kind that feels like the world is holding its breath. The curtains flutter in the wind as the morning sun shines brightly.‎‎Something feels wrong.‎‎I rise from bed, wrapping my robe around me. My hair’s a mess, my mind worse. I didn’t sleep. Couldn’t. The air has been thick with tension since Kyle’s capture, since Anita escaped and Lucien leaving.‎‎I walk to the balcony, watching the courtyard below. Guards move in tense formation. Dravon’s men are changing shifts, but their movements are sharp, restless. The scent of unease lingers everywhere.‎‎I come back into the bedroom and that’s when I see it, on my bed side stool.‎‎A folded paper.‎A red ribbon.‎And Lucien’s wolf pendant glinting in the light. The letter Lucien gave me yesterday, I haven't opened it yet.‎‎For a moment, I just stand there, staring. My throat tightens. The pendant, it used to rest against his chest.‎‎I sink into be

~Elara~“Ok, let's start here.” I stand upright in front of him, gesturing to the entire garden. “This is the royal garden. It is divided into three sections: the floral session, the crops session and the orchard. It also has a greenhouse where rare plants-” I notice Lucien standing still, staring at me wistfully. I snap my fingers in his face. “Are you still here or have you travelled to the world beyond?”He blinks. “Uhm sorry what did you say?”I put my hands on my waist. “Do you want the tour or not?”“I do, I'm really sorry. I just got lost in your beau- beautiful words, but please go on.” He awkwardly chuckles.“You want to see the greenhouse we have?” I simply ask.“Sure.” He agrees. As we head to the greenhouse, I point out some flowers that are not in Winterwood, telling him their names.“Also lilies are rare here.” I add.He turns to me. “Lilies? The same lilies that we have abundant in Winterwood?”“Yes. When I came here it was a shock to me as well. For some reason the so
