Kane's POV

It was days after the donation.

I was worried from the onset that my blood would not be good enough, but it was, according to the quick tests and words that came from the Healer. It was good enough.

Today was the third day since the transfusion.

Still, Rain had yet to open her eyes. It looked like she wouldn't, but the Healer said that she would. It was a hard task believing the words that came from his mouth given the state she was in, but what other choice did I have? I sat next to the bed where she lay, my eyes wide open as I scanned her face.

A knock came at the door.

One glance behind me and it was Darius. “You mustn't disturb her sleep, although she's not exactly sleeping. I know I have mentioned this to you before now, Darius. What's the matter? What do you want?”

“My Lord.” He bowed.

“Yes, Darius. What is it?”

“The head of the maids sent me. She told me you haven't had a single thing to eat since yesterday. Why is that? Are you sick or something?”

Sick?

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL ALPHA    40: She Wakes II.

Rain's POV How I got here, I didn't know. But it took me a long time to open my eyes. “Rain?” My name was heard and I looked up. No, to the side of the bed where two men stood. The Alpha gushed, his brow drawn together in worry. “Are you okay? Are you in any pain?” Of all people to speak to me in that manner, I was never going to expect the Alpha to. Why was he being so concerned for me all of a sudden, and how did I even get here? I looked at the other side with an expectation to see another person. Someone familiar, maybe Shayla. Or Alec. But none of them were here. “Rain?” “Let her be for now—” another voice hit the space. “She needs some time to recover. Hopefully, she still recalls her name and who she is, then the identity of you and many other people she knows.” I looked back at the side where these men stayed, many words, thoughts running around in my head, but I found it hard at the same time to speak. Had I gone dumb? “Wh—what happened to me?” “Oh, finally—” a si

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL ALPHA    38: Donation.

Kane's POV What did he just say to me? Or wasn't it me he spoke to? I looked to my right where Alec was. “What did you say?” I questioned, anger welling up inside of me. “I'm sorry—” Alec mouthed. “It wasn't meant to be directed at you. I'm overwhelmed by all that is happening.” He looked at me, bowed, and looked away. Was I even supposed to be convinced by that? But I didn't bother much about it. Especially when the old healer stood in our midst. I faced him again and let out. “What's going on with her now? Is she awake?” “Not at all, Alpha Kane. She has been asleep. More like being unconscious. There's no way she'll be awake for now, maybe in the next three days. As I have said, she lost a lot of blood and there's no way we can work on her until we run some tests. The staff have gone to get blood.” Good. All I needed to hear. “Good—” the word escaped my mouth. I moved to and fro in the small space, many thoughts running around in my head. What would happen

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL ALPHA    37: The Fall II

Kane's POV A knock came at the door—urgent.I felt it in my bones along with a strange feeling. I looked at Alec who sat on the couch. “Did you hear that?” “Yes—” He confirmed with a nod. I opened my mouth to speak again when a knock came at the door again. This time, it was louder than the first. Someone called from outside. “My Lord!” I recognized the voice of a guard. “There's something I must tell you. Right now.” “Let him in—” I snapped my fingers. The door, at that instant, pushed open. A young man whom I recognized stepped in at that moment, his breath shaky. I could see beads of sweat on his face. But I remained calm. “What is making you sweat like a goat?” I dropped the ancient book I read from, on the bed and now, faced him. “Has something happened to the members of the Pack?” “My Lord.” He bowed, walked even closer. “Something happened outside the Pack. The pack and its members are safe, but there's someone who needs medical attention. Although she has been taken t

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL ALPHA    36:The Fall

Rain's POV Shayla and I had just finished making a meal when my name was called from the kitchen entrance. When I turned, the guard who guards the Alpha's door was there, he looked in my direction. “Thank you, Shayla.” I greeted my friend who gave me a nod. “I can handle the rest. Thanks.” I assured her as I caught up with the man who bowed. I bowed back. “You called. What is the matter?” “The Alpha sent me. He wants you in his chamber. You're asked to be there before the next minute would end.” That was his message. While Darius walked away from my sight, I wondered what the Alpha would want from me at this point. Ignoring the meal I had just made, I was on my way to the Alpha's door, many thoughts running around in my head as I reached my destination. “What have you been doing?” I bowed, faced him, and let out. “My Lord. Good morning. I was making your meal when the guard came to call me.” One step and I was closer. “Is there something you need me to do?” I got my answer alread

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL ALPHA    35: Alec's Anger.

Alec’s POV I should have known this was the plan. I should have known this was the plan when he sent her to a tree she shouldn't be seen at in the first place. “I don't know what to say to you, Kane.” He shot me a glare. “What do you mean by that?” What did I not mean? I didn't speak in gibberish, did I? I wasn't even scared of him. Not at this point. There was a need to voice my thoughts and that's what I was trying to do. “I just asked you a very simple question.” I bowed, dropped the spoon on the table and started. “Forgive me for questioning your actions, Alpha Kane. But in my opinion, I believe you've done more than enough to the woman who doesn't deserve more of these.” “What do you mean?” How couldn't he understand? The Alpha I know wasn't dumb. The man I knew was smart, even more than me. “All I'm trying to say is that you take it easy with the woman so she doesn't lose her life. The other day, you asked her to be at the tree, knowing fully well that no woman has cla
