The air within the grand hall of the High Council was electric. Elders, monarchs, and ambassadors from every supernatural race had arrived in haste, at my behest. Their gazes cut through me, some accusatory, others optimistic. It did not matter. They would soon see sense.

I sat at the head of the chamber, my throne carved from silverwood of old, its veins thrumming with the magic of my ancestors. The council chamber itself was a wonder—a realm of mist between worlds, spun of threads of power and time. Stained glass copied the stars above, changing with every breath of magic.
