Trent stepped out of Zora’s room and let out a breath he hadn’t realised he’d been holding. For a moment, he stood there in the hallway, staring at his hand. A cold smirk crept onto his face. The more time he spent around Zora, the more the peace he felt. He left before he could do something he would never forgive himself for.

“Zora is never my mate; why these feelings?” He muttered.

The smile on his face disappeared at the thought that Zora wasn't the one. The compass didn't tick. He dipped his hand into his pocket to bring out the compass—maybe it had ticked by now.

He couldn't find it. He beat his forehead when he recalled that he’d left it in Zora's room.

He couldn’t go back—not after nearly losing control, nearly kissing her. Whatever was drawing him to her, it was powerful... and unfamiliar.

With a low growl, he turned and made his way toward his office.
