A month had passed since Zora disappeared, but Trent had not stopped searching for even a single day.

The toll it had taken on him was visible to everyone who saw him. He had lost so much weight that his clothes no longer fit properly, and his face had become pale and unkempt.

His beard had grown wild because he could not be bothered to shave, and dark circles formed around his eyes from too many sleepless nights.

He stood in his office now, hunched over a large map spread across his desk. Red marks covered nearly every section, indicating places they had already searched. Places where they had found nothing.

Marcus had vanished after the cave incident. No one had seen or heard from him since that night, and Trent knew his cousin was too smart to resurface anytime soon. The bastard had planned everything too carefully and he was hoping he would slip.

But Trent refused to give up. Every lead, no matter how small, was worth pursuing. Every rumor was worth investigating. He would tear th

The drive back to the pack house felt endless to Trent. He sat in the back seat with Zora beside him, hyperaware of every breath she took and every small movement she made. She stared out the window in silence with no recognition on her face.Brandon drove while Claire sat in the passenger seat, occasionally glancing back at them with worry written all over her expression. Nobody spoke. What was there to say?Trent wanted to reach for Zora's hand, wanted to pull her close and never let go, but he forced himself to keep his distance. She was already terrified enough without him crowding her.And he knew that if he made any attempts, she would leave and he might never see her again, which was his greatest fear. After about thirty minutes, Zora's eyes started to droop. Her head tilted to the side as exhaustion finally caught up with her.Trent watched as she fought to stay awake, her body swaying around but mostly to his side. When her head started to fall forward, Trent could not stop h

Trent took a step closer, his legs suddenly becoming shaky. He had imagined this moment a thousand times during the past month.Finding Zora, holding her and bringing her home. But in none of those scenarios had she looked at him like this.Like he was nothing. She was the only one that could make him feel the way he was feeling right there.Trent felt so lost and confused. He could handle any battle but when the love of his life looked at him and did not know who he was, that was beyond what he could handle."Zora," he called out again, his voice barely above a whisper. She stared at him with blank eyes. There was no spark of recognition, no relief, no joy at being rescued. Just confusion and fear directed at a man she did not know."Where is Kaelion?" She asked in a shaky voice."He is dead," Trent regretted saying it as soon as he did. He did not know if that would make her see him as a monster but worst of all, he was not sure yet about what she was.Zora did not react. It was har

Trent circled Kaelion, his wolf form was covered by blood stains which were not his and his gaze lurked at Kaelion, trying to be prepared for each step he took. Each time they clashed, he learned more about his opponent's fighting style. Kaelion was faster, there was no denying that. The vampire's speed was unnatural, allowing him to strike and retreat before Trent could land a solid counterattack. But speed was not everything.Trent had been fighting his entire life. He had trained against opponents of all kinds, learned to read their movements and anticipate their strategies. And right now, he could see a pattern forming in Kaelion's attacks. The vampire favored his right side. Every strike, every dodge, every movement leaned slightly to the right. It was subtle, barely noticeable, but it was there.Trent shifted his stance, pretending to favor his left side now as if nursing an injury. He let himself stumble slightly, giving Kaelion an opening that looked too good to pass up.Kaeli

Trent's eyes widened and there was a flush of hope deep inside of him. After a month of searching, of chasing dead ends and false leads, he was finally looking at the place where his Luna was being held."Zora," he called out as he took a deep breath, her name falling from his lips like that was all he had been holding onto.Brandon stepped up beside him, his own expression stunned. "How did we miss this? We must have driven past here a dozen times during our searches.""The magic concealed it," Claire said, still kneeling in her circle. Her voice was filled with relief and exhaustion. "We could have been standing right here and never known it existed."Trent did not wait for further explanation. His body was already moving as his wolf surged forward. His eyes blazed gold and as his claws extended, he was fully in his wolf form and then, he broke into a run toward the mansion."With me!" he roared to his warriors, and they followed without hesitation. They stormed through the front ga

The convoy of vehicles moved through the roads as they headed toward the first location Claire had marked on her map.Trent sat in the lead car, his jaw clenched tight as he seemed so restless.Every mile they covered felt like it was taking forever, and every second that passed was another second Zora remained missing. In the car behind him, Brandon sat in the driver's seat with Claire beside him in the passenger side. The tension in their vehicle was different from the one Trent carried. Brandon kept glancing over at his mate, his expression troubled."You know," Brandon finally said, breaking the silence that had lingered for a while, "if this turns out to be nothing, if we get there and find another empty location, it is going to destroy him."Claire turned to look at Brandon, her brow furrowed. "What do you mean?""Alpha Trent!" Brandon explained in a gentle tone. "I know you have not known him for very long, but this past month has been hell for him. Every false lead, every dead

Zora's mind was racing as she stood frozen on the balcony, processing everything she had just heard. The conversation between Kaelion and Marcus had revealed so much, yet left her with even more questions. One thing was clear though: Kaelion was not her husband. He had lied to her, manipulated her, and kept her trapped here under false pretenses. Her heart pounded as she heard footsteps approaching from inside. Kaelion was coming back upstairs. She did not want him to find her here so she quickly turned away from the balcony, rushing back through the hallway toward the bedroom where she would act normal like nothing had happened. But her mind would not stop drifting. If Kaelion had lied about being her husband, then what else had he lied about? The accident, her supposed two-year marriage, all of it could be fabricated. And this man named Trent that Marcus had mentioned, who was he? Was he really looking for her like Marcus had implied? She needed answers but she knew she could not ge
