I closed Dr. Adrian’s office door with trembling hands. My breath caught in my throat, my chest tight. My legs felt heavy, but somehow I managed to drag myself toward the hospital’s emergency stairwell.

There, I sank onto the lowest step. The tears I had been holding back finally broke free.

Why does everything have to be this way?

I only wanted to become a doctor. That was all. I had worked so hard, studying day and night, sacrificing sleep, enduring the jeers of my classmates. Yet every door still seemed to slam shut simply because I was different.

And now Liam.

I scrubbed my face with my hands, frustration burning in my chest. He always barged in with his own way: forceful, commanding, uncompromising. I knew he meant to protect me, but sometimes it frightened me. What if his way only pushed me further into isolation?

The sudden creak of the stairwell door made me jump.

I turned. It was Liam.

Quickly, I wiped at my tears. “You’re finished already?”

He descended two steps and stopped

That night passed quietly. But deep inside, I knew our lives were entering a new chapter. I had graduated as a surgeon, and soon I would work full time as a consultant. But before that, I had several weeks with no schedule, no rounds, no operations. And for the first time in years, I could breathe without being chased by time. The next morning, I woke up not because of an alarm, not because of a hospital emergency call, but because of Elena’s gentle kiss on my cheek.“Mommy wake up, Mommy promised to play with Elena,” she said softly.I smiled and touched her hair. “I remember. Today we will play all day.”She hugged me tightly, then rushed to her room to get her doll. I went downstairs, and the smell of coffee was already filling the room. Liam was preparing breakfast, still wearing a black T-shirt and sweatpants. No doctor’s coat, no formal Alpha attire. Just Liam, my husband.“Did you sleep well?” he asked without turning around.“For the first time in a long time,” I replied as I

One year later, I stared at my reflection in the mirror, dressed in a white graduation gown, the symbol of every surgeon who had finally completed their specialist training. My graduation day was supposed to be filled with loud applause and overwhelming excitement, yet it all felt like a long dream reaching its final chapter. Every sleepless night, every tear, every moment of guilt for rarely being home with Elena and for not giving enough attention to Liam, all of it played in my mind like a reel of memories.I closed my eyes for a second and took a deep breath. Today was the day I had been waiting for not only for myself, but for my family. For Liam and for Elena. When I walked downstairs, Liam was already standing in the living room wearing a perfectly tailored black suit, his hair slicked back, highlighting the masculinity he never lost. He looked at me without blinking, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.“You look incredible,” he said softly.I almost laughed nervously. “Don

That night ended with a gentle silence in the living room. Liam did not say much, but he kept watching me as if he needed to make sure I was truly alright. I knew he was tired, and I was tired too, but there was no distance between us. If anything, it felt like we were holding each other’s wounds together. The next morning, I woke up early to get ready for the hospital again. I kissed Elena’s forehead while she was still fast asleep. “Mama is leaving now, sweetheart. Papa will stay with you,” I whispered.Liam stood at the bedroom doorway with a small smile. “I’ll walk you to the door today.”I nodded, and we walked through the house quietly. When we reached the entrance, he took my hand.“You don’t have to feel guilty about yesterday,” he said softly.“But I still do,” I answered honestly.Liam let out a slow breath and touched my cheek. “In this relationship, there is no one to blame. We are both trying. That is enough.”His words were comforting, but my heart was still full of the

Liam and I finally had time together for Elena. After all the chaos of work, surgeries, and endless schedules, today felt like a breath of fresh air we both desperately needed. It was Saturday, and for the first time in a long while, neither of us had duties or emergencies to run to. The apartment felt bright, warm, and peaceful in a way I had really missed.Elena was sitting on the carpet in the living room, surrounded by colorful building blocks. Her small hands were trying to stack them, but she kept getting distracted and rearranging everything instead. When she saw Liam and me approaching, she squealed in an excited voice.“Daddy, Mommy, look! Castle!”Liam exaggerated a gasp and rushed to sit beside her. “Wow. This is the most beautiful castle I have ever seen in my entire life.”Elena giggled, covering her mouth, clearly proud of herself. I sat next to them and stroked her soft hair. She smelled like baby shampoo mixed with the sweetness of milk. It was one of my favorite scent

A few days had passed since the incident where Liam had to leave us because of an emergency call. After that, I could see how hard he tried to make time for Elena. He often came home earlier than usual, canceled some of his personal activities, and every night he tucked Elena into bed while reading her a story.Today was the day when Liam finally had real free time. No pack meetings, no night patrols, and no emergency calls. Since morning, he looked incredibly enthusiastic. He prepared breakfast himself, put on an apron, and proudly showed off heart-shaped pancakes he had made.“I want to spend today with my family,” he said with a big smile.Elena instantly clapped her hands in excitement. “Daddy really won’t go anywhere today?”Liam cupped her cheeks. “I promise. Today is only for Elena and Mama.”I smiled at the two of them. I rarely saw Liam without burden and seriousness weighing on his face. Today, he looked like an ordinary man, relaxed, happy, and full of energy. After breakfa

The following afternoon, Liam finally came home. I heard the sound of a car engine stopping in the garage, then his footsteps entering the house. I was in the kitchen, while Elena was sitting in the living room quietly coloring without a sound. As soon as the front door opened, Elena lifted her head quickly, but her body stayed still, not running to him like she usually did.Liam walked in with a tired face, but he was wearing a warm smile.“Hello.”I nodded a little. “Hello.”His eyes immediately searched for Elena. “Elena, sweetheart, Papa is home.”There was no answer. Elena only looked at him for a few seconds before bowing her head again, dragging her crayon slowly on the paper.Liam approached her and knelt in front of his daughter. “Papa is sorry for not being able to play yesterday.”Elena gripped her crayon tighter. “Elena knows Papa works,” she replied, but her voice sounded flat.Liam touched her small shoulder carefully. “Papa does not want to make you sad. Papa wants to b
