That night I sat on the sofa in the apartment, emotions still tangled inside me. Alpha Gregor’s words kept echoing in my head, discarded wolf, disgraceful daughter-in-law. I lowered my head, clutching my knees tightly.

The door creaked open. Liam walked in, his jacket already off, the collar of his white shirt open at the chest. He moved calmly toward the table, poured himself a glass of water, and drank it without a word.

I swallowed, gathering the courage to ask softly, “You’re not angry with me? Because I spoke in front of Alpha Gregor.”

He turned to me. “Angry? No.”

I lifted my face, startled.

Liam walked closer, standing tall in front of me. “I’m not angry. In fact, you had the courage to speak in front of him. That’s more than I expected.”
