Zafira cleared her throat and licked her lips, trying to sound calm, "Sir! I don't know how long you will keep me here, but can I have a chair to sit down on? I can't stand it any longer".
He studied her for a moment as his expression was unreadable. Then, with a slight nod, he motioned for a chair.
As she sat down, relief washed over her but the tension in the room didn't fade.
Zafira could feel his sharp and assessing eyes on her, which made her heart race again. She pressed her legs which were aching badly as she removed her shoes and shocks, letting the coldness of the atmosphere soothe her pain.
His eyes observed her actions while standing silently there. The henchmen stared at Zafira as they were gaping like a fish.
Zafira checked her wrist watch and eyes slightly widened as she composed herself immediately.
His eyes were observing her every movement, expressions and counting her breathings as well.
She looked at him again and said, "Sir! It's 7 in the evening and I have been taking medicine at nine after dinner. Can you give me my medicines?".
His eyes flickered for a second and had an unidentified glint in it.
"Why do you want to know how long I will keep you?", He asked in a low and smooth voice that played with the tune of her heart.
Zafira took a deep breath and was trying to steady herself and replied to him, "I just want to prepare. It's simple because I am ready to stay here but no one will hurt me in any way. If someone does wrong to me, I will not leave anyone".
Her words caused him to laugh loudly as she was startled by his laugh.
"You don't seem like the type to break easily", He said in a straightforward manner and Zafira met his gaze defiantly as she refused to let him see any hint of fear.
"And you don't seem like the type to care", Zafira replied in a straight tone and surprised herself with her boldness.
A flicker of amusement crossed his face as he said, "You are right. I don't care about much, but I do care about strength. It can be useful in this world".
His words intrigued her.
'Was he saying he valued resilience?'
She couldn't quite read his intentions, but she sensed he was different from the others.
"Can you please answer me? Why am I here? I told these suit men that I will not say a word to anyone. So there is no need to abduct me but...", she said while taking a deep breath.
He stepped even closer and lowered his voice so only she could hear, "Do you think, after witnessing the murder and seeing my face you will roam freely like nothing happened?".
She stared deeply at him and then said, "Okay! I understand your point but How long do I have to stay here?".
"As long as I want", He whispered softly while his gaze traced her facial features and flickering over her lips.
"But why? I have already said that I will not say a word to anyone about you then why did you take me?", she demanded in a bold voice despite the fear simmered beneath the surface.
"Because You've caught my attention, little one", the man said and his voice turned huskier and the way his dark eyes lingered on her, flipped her heart.
The rough men exchanged nervous glances again as they were clearly unsure how to respond to this shift in focus.
The man who was standing close to the girl they abducted only because she witnessed their boss killing a few people mercilessly was their - The King, Their ruler.
Zafira felt the weight of their eyes on her but couldn't shake the feeling that this man might be her best chance at survival.
Zafira stood her ground confidently as she faced the man who had kidnapped her. She sensed a deeper story hidden behind his intense gaze.
"Can I know your name?", Zafira asked him as her instincts were urging her to gather information about the man standing before her.
Something about him made the others uneasy, and the power, position, and authority radiating from him made her realize she needed to tread carefully if she wanted to survive.
His dark eyes seemed to pierce through her and were searching her soul, and a smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth, making him even more alluring.
"Azrael... Azrael Sartori", He replied in a deep voice, causing her eyes to widen in shock and surprise.
Azrael Sartori, a name that sent chills down her spine. He was known to be dark and deadly, born of the angel of death, with a cold and dangerous character that commanded both fear and respect from those around him.
Zafira swallowed hard and the weight of his identity settled heavily on her.
"You... you are Azrael Sartori?", She stammered while trying to process the implications of standing before someone so powerful and feared.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by her reaction. "Yes, that's me. Surprised?"
"More like terrified", she blurted out and her heart was racing as she considered what this meant for her. "I had no idea who you were".
"Most don't. And that's how I prefer it. But you seem different, Zafira. You're not just another frightened girl", Azrael said in a smooth and confident voice.
Zafira's pulse quickened at his words.
"I'm not afraid of you", she said softly.
Azrael stepped closer and said in a lower voice, "You should be. But fear isn't always a weakness. It can keep you alive".
"What do you want from me?" she asked while her mind raced as she tried to piece everything together.
"Don't know", He replied and his tone was serious as he continued to speak, "But I'm not here to hurt you- at least, not in the way you might think".
Zafira narrowed her eyes and she was still uncertain about so many things, "And what does that mean?".
She was confused about Azrael and the way he was playing with words, making her uncomfortable under his scrunching gaze.
"It means I want to offer you a choice", He said and he gazed intensely at her.
She stared at his handsome face and appeared perplexed. Staring at her bewildered look, he finished speaking, "I want you to be my woman."
