I rushed back to the bed, my heart pounding like a war drum in my chest.

My fingers fumbled inside the bedside drawer, searching for his pistoL, then the door creaked open.

Shit.

I spun around instantly, trying not to act suspicious.

A tough looking, armed guard in an all-black uniform, stood at the door.

"Boss?" he called out.

"He's resting, as you can see," I said sweetly, gesturing toward Bruce. "Come back another time."

I bent down and kissed Bruce's stiff forehead, trying not to gag.

Straightening, I smiled at the guard again.

But his eyes lingered on the body. Then back to me. I could see the suspicion and doubt in his eyes.

My gut twisted.

Could he tell from that distance? I needed to act fast. He was armed, and I had no weapon within reach.

"Some privacy, please. Come back later," I said sharply, folding my arms with a frown as I moved forward to block his view.

The guard suddenly raised his gun and aimed it at me.

A slow smirk on his lips, made it even worse.

  • CRY OR BETTER YET, BEG   I WAS READY

ZAYNE'S POV The moment I turned back toward the bed, my balance betrayed me. The floor shifted under my boots, like I was standing on a swaying boat. The injury was starting to affect my body. I clenched my jaw and kept walking anyway. I would rather tear myself apart than let her see me falter. Not her. Not this woman. “I’d rather let rats chew me alive than let you make a sound between my thighs. You’re pathetic! I hate you… I hate you!! I swear with my life I will kill you, bastard! Even if it takes years. Even if I have to crawl through hell to do it.” Her voice echoed in my head, replaying itself. I knew she was playing games with this whole memory loss. I wouldn’t underestimate Vince’s assassin doll. I wouldn’t be foolish enough to fall into that trap and let my guard down. That bitch hates me to death. Nothing could ever make her forget her hatred for me. My heart started racing in a strange way—something I hadn’t felt in a long time. She wouldn’

  • CRY OR BETTER YET, BEG   YOU ARE HURT AND I AM WORRIED

Aria froze, the meaning sinking in slowly, painfully. Zayne watched her expression shift from shock to disbelief. A cruel, humorless smile—one that didn’t touch his eyes—spread across his face. “You look surprised,” he said. “As if you didn’t know you’re standing in front of the man responsible.” Aria swallowed hard. “Why are you telling me this? I… I can’t hate you for something I don’t remember. Besides, you keep talking about it like you regret it and it haunts you.” Zayne paused for a heartbeat, then let out a quiet, disbelieving laugh. “Haha! You’re unbelievable,” he said softly. “Truly. A good actor, I must confess. You have talent not only on now to make a dick pulse but also how to make a brain pause". Her confusion deepened. “What are you talking about?” “You think I’d feel anything about what happened,” he snapped. “Regret? Guilt?” He scoffed. “I don’t regret removing obstacles. Not then. Not now.” Aria remained silent. Zayne dropped his hand. T

  • CRY OR BETTER YET, BEG   YOU CAME BACK

That night Aria was sleeping on her hospital bed, curled up on her side, with the blanket half-slipped from her shoulder. The room was quiet until her nose twitched softly. “...Titan? Is that you?” she murmured, still half-dreaming. Zayne froze. Her lashes fluttered open, and she caught him there—standing beside her bed, one hand hovering inches above her hair. She smiled, sleepily and warm. “I knew it was you,” she whispered. “You still smell the same.” Zayne’s chest tightened. It was on purpose, he thought. I used the same cologne Titan loved to wear. A stupid choice. A stupid reason to come here. What the hell am I doing here? Watching her sleep? Reaching to caress her hair? How could I have allowed her to affect me so much? Could it be the moment I almost gave up the ghost and she was the only thing I could think of? He clenched his jaw. Zayne’s entire convoy had been ambushed thirty minutes after leaving the meeting—an insider’s betrayal. He had foug

  • CRY OR BETTER YET, BEG   DISTRACTED

She took a long pull from her thick cigar and stared at him. There's only one reason he is acting this strange, she thought"That Vince's pet slut has gotten into him badly. I wonder what happened three days ago at the emergency room.He hasn't been himself since thenWhat could I do to save this bastard from failing as a leader. He is the heir, any distraction will get him eliminated by the enemy and this empire taken." She sighed and released a cloud of smoke. “Lord Zayne,”she said gently, “your decision?” Zayne lifted his gaze slowly, like it took effort. “Repeat the numbers,” he said. Arkan blinked. “We… we… already did.” “Repeat them,” Zayne said again, voice flat. “All of them.” They all exchanged uneasy glances. Zayne never forgot any detail during a meeting, but today he was drifting—badly. What could be the matter? "You heard him! Repeat it." Venom roared. Bael cleared his throat and read off his tablet: “Four.....four... shipments lost. Sixty-two

  • CRY OR BETTER YET, BEG   CAPITAL MEETING

LOCATION: BLOODFANG HEADQUARTERS (Capital City) The conference room on the 47th floor overlooked the entire capital. A tall tower of shining glass walls, steel beams, and a massive black table where twelve dangerous mafia leaders from around the globe sat, each wearing the crest of the region they controlled. Documents, ledgers, maps, and blood-signed contracts littered the table. No one spoke over another. Except tonight. Tonight, they were already yelling, guns holstered beside their chairs as casually as wallets. “We lost four shipments this month — that’s sixty-two million gone!" Arkan, a member of the group, slammed a stack of printed spreadsheets on the table in anger. Numbers highlighted in red. Another one, named Bael, didn’t even look up from his tablet before replying to the furious one. “Maybe try hiring men who graduated primary school,” he said dryly. “Oh shut up,” Arkan snapped. “My division is the only one pulling its weight—” “Clearly not,” Bael

  • CRY OR BETTER YET, BEG   OUTSIDE THE GATES

Finally, Miren replied. “Can we have a minute with each other, my lady?” Aria blinked with a piece of cake in her mouth. She swallowed. “Of course you can.” They quietly excused themselves to a corner, arguing in hushed tones. “Are we allowed to?” Stacy whispered. “Well, she requested. We are supposed to follow her orders,” Miren whispered back. “She could fall, or hurt herself! What if she wanders off?” Hannah fretted. “But we can’t just deny her… she’s been trapped in that room for days!” Selena protested. After a long moment, they reluctantly agreed to supervise her. Miren returned to the bedside. “My lady, your wish is our command. Of course we can escort you to see the outside.” Aria’s face lit up instantly. “Thank you! Thank you so much!” The same moment, the door opened, and Dr. Eugene stepped in. “What’s going on here?” Aria bounced up from the bed slightly. “Doctor! You promised! I can go out—just a little, with them. I’ll be careful!”
