Emily sighed and brushed a few strands of hair behind my ear.

“You went into a coma again. It’s been two days. The doctor just left a few minutes ago. He said you’d wake soon… and he was right.”

She paused then continued.

“Also… Titan visited.”

My eyes snapped open, wide with disbelief.

He’s alive?!

“Where is he?” I croaked, my voice barely above a whisper.

She gave a soft nod toward the door.

“He’s outside the room, leaning on the wall. He’s been there for two days straight. Hasn’t eaten, hasn’t moved. Just sat there, hoping for you to wake up.”

She looked at me, unsure. “Should I call him in?”

Why does it feel like someone just unclenched their fist from around my lungs? Like a burden was suddenly removed from my shoulders.

I shouldn’t care but yet why do I feel a strange sense of happiness swelling in my chest that he is alive?

How did I get this attached to him without even realizing it?

    He looked up and saw me, then stood immediately, offering a handshake.“You must be Aria's new bodyguard. I’m Daniel.”Daniel.The name hit a nerve.It sounds quite familiar, but I am certain we haven't met. I didn’t take his hand.     Just then, a nurse came in to get me ready for discharge.She gently untangled the IV lines and checked my vitals one last time."You're good to go," she said with a warm smile.I nodded, exhausted, my body still feeling twice as heavy as it should."Where's Emily?" I asked as I slipped on my shoes."She left earlier," the nurse replied.I gave another tired nod and carefully stepped out of the bed. The nurse followed behind, holding my handbag.My legs felt like jelly-weak, unsteady. I could barely walk properly.The moment I stepped outside the clinic, the harsh sunlight hit me like a slap. My head spun instantly.My stomach growled, loud and angry. If I don't eat soon, I am definitely going to collapse all over again.Titan was already there at the parking lot, standing by the car, his left arm still in a sling.Driving one-handed didn't seem to be a problem for him.The nurse handed me my bag and turned back into the clinic.Titan opened the car door for me without saying a word.
