Chapter 1

The doctor studied the report, his expression grave. "Ms. Vega, Mr. Bowman has multiple fractures all over his body. If he doesn't get treatment right away, he won't be able to race again."

My fiancee, Heather Vega, replied coldly, "He won't be needing the treatment. Christopher has a healthy, strong body. I'm sure he'll get better on his own."

The doctor tried to reason with her. "Fractures don't heal by themselves. The longer treatment is delayed, the worse his recovery will be later down the line."

Heather's impatience was becoming obvious as she snapped, "I said he'll be fine. Are you deaf or what? Don't you know overtreatment is illegal now?"

With how firm Heather was being, the doctor turned to me and sighed helplessly before leaving.

During those three days and nights of pure torture, those women had taken turns riding on top of me, and as they were as fat as pigs, they had bent my spine out of shape.

They struck me repeatedly with whips dipped in scalding oil, which aggravated my bite injuries so much that I blacked out from the pain more than once.

There were countless times when I wanted to bite my tongue and end it all in despair. But whenever I thought of Heather and my sister, Claire Bowman—their voices and their smiles—it gave me the will to hang on.

What I never expected was that the two women I trusted most were actually the ones behind my descent to hell.

I had endured all that inhuman torture without shedding a single tear, yet at this moment, tears streamed uncontrollably down my face.

It felt like my heart had been pierced by a thousand arrows, rendering me unable to breathe.

From behind the curtain, my elder sister, Claire Bowman, whispered, "Heather, aren't we being too cruel to Christopher? Racing is his lifelong dream."

In an icy voice, Heather said, "Don't forget that if Samuel hadn't saved us back then in that car accident, we'd both be dead right now.

"We're indebted to Samuel. Saying that he gave us a second chance at life wouldn't even be an exaggeration. And that's why I can't let Christopher get surgery right now. If he recovers, he'll be Samuel's biggest threat."

Hearing that made my heart ache painfully. So to them, Samuel Payne mattered a million times more than I ever did.

A while later, as I drifted off to sleep, someone pressed a pillow over my mouth all of a sudden. The moment our eyes met, I knew it was Heather.

As if afraid I'd recognize her, she switched places with someone else. But when I saw the birthmark on the other person's neck, cold sweat broke out all over me. It was Claire.

Without warning, the Achilles tendon in my right ankle was severed, and the muscles in my calf were sliced.

My whole body trembled uncontrollably, but I couldn't move at all due to my injuries.

I screamed in agony, but the pillow muffled my voice completely. No one came to save me.

In that moment, despair overwhelmed me. For a racecar driver, losing one's right leg meant one could never hit the brakes again, and one's career was over from then on.

Just then, Claire brought over a syringe and injected something into my arm. Heather immediately snatched it away. "Why are you giving him anesthesia? Christopher's a grown man—he can handle this bit of pain."

Afraid I had recognized her voice, Heather grabbed a nearby vase and smashed it hard against my head out of panic. Everything went black immediately.

When I woke up again, my head had already been bandaged. Heather and Claire were by my side, looking worried.

Seeing that I was awake, Heather quickly comforted me. "Christopher, don't be scared. The families of those women must have come to take revenge earlier. I've already had people take them in."

Claire went along with Heather, telling me not to worry and that they'd stay by my side. It felt like my heart was being crushed by a giant hammer, causing it to bleed profusely.

The very people who had just hurt me were now pretending to care about me. At that moment, I didn't even know what in this world was real anymore.

Everyone present gasped at the sight of my injuries, shock evident on their faces. They started taking pictures, and some even started livestreaming.I rolled up my pant leg, exposing the injuries on my leg.Slowly and deliberately, I asked Heather, "Have you forgotten who severed my Achilles tendon in my right leg? How could I possibly forgive someone who hurt me like this?"Claire quickly jumped in, trying to smooth things over. "Christopher, we already dealt with Samuel. The torment he suffered before he died was a thousand times worse than what you went through."The crowd was stunned. Smelling a story, the gossip-hungry reporters tried to make their way back toward us, but the bodyguards blocked them firmly.Heather suddenly pulled a small eyebrow razor from her bag. Slipping off her high heel, she cut her own ankle.Gritting her teeth, she sliced her Achilles tendon despite the pain.Writhing on the ground in agony, she yelled, "Christopher, now that I've done this for you

Just then, the butler rushed in to show a video to Heather. In the video, Samuel could be seen talking to me in the hospital room, along with the scene where he stabbed himself to gain sympathy.Claire couldn't stop crying as she watched. "Christopher, if only you were still alive… I can never see your face or hear your voice again…"Grabbing the fruit knife on the table, Heather thrust it toward Samuel's stomach. "It's your fault Christopher is dead! You'll pay in blood! If you hadn't lied and said you were the one who saved me in that accident, I'd never have hurt Christopher like that."You even acted like Christopher had hurt you in the hospital, and Christopher was left to die alone in the rainforest because of that!"Claire stormed over as well to kick where Samuel was hurt.He collapsed instantly, writhing on the ground like a worm and groaning in agony.Heather ordered her bodyguards to lock Samuel in a cage with two mastiffs. The mastiffs growled menacingly at him.Hea

Once they reached the rainforest, Heather ordered her bodyguards to split up and search. "Christopher has to be found today, no matter what. If he isn't found, no one can leave!"When Claire saw the bloodstains on the ground, she could no longer hold back her tears. "Heather, have we been too cruel to Christopher? What if wild animals followed the scent of his blood and took him away?"Heather's heart was pounding as well, but she tried to stay calm. "Let's split up, Claire. I'm sure we'll find him soon."Claire and Heather searched everywhere, shouting until their voices went hoarse, but no response came from the vast rainforest. Before they knew it, dawn had broken. Everyone was exhausted. That was when Heather suddenly broke down, screaming, "Christopher, if you're nearby, please answer me! You can hit me and scold me all you want! Just don't ignore me!"Tears had long ruined Claire's makeup. In a hoarse voice, she shouted, "Christopher, after Mom and Dad died, we've only had e

When Heather heard the news, the wine glass in her hand slipped uncontrollably, red wine spreading across the floor like blood. With a look of utter disbelief, she stared at the bodyguard. "What did you say? Christopher may be dead?"Claire immediately lunged at the bodyguard, slapping him. "That's nonsense! How could anything happen to my brother? How useless can you all be when you can't even watch over a single person? Go find him right now!"The bodyguard shakily handed the torn, blood-stained shirt to Claire.Dashing over, Heather snatched it. When she saw the little bear embroidery she had personally sewn on the sleeve, panic instantly hit her.She held the shirt out to Claire. "This is bad… Christopher's definitely in trouble. We need to search the rainforest right now."At that moment, Samuel stopped Heather. "Don't be fooled by Christopher, Heather. He's just trying to use this little stunt to lure you away and ruin my celebration."Heather, who usually treated him kind

When Claire and Heather noticed that I was awake, they immediately stopped talking. Heather stammered in a probing tone, "C-Christopher, you didn't hear anything just now, right?"I shook my head, and it was clear they were relieved.Heather came over to hold my hand. "Christopher, don't listen to what anyone says. With me here, no one dares speak badly of you."I gazed at her, my heart already broken. Wasn't she the one behind everything that had happened to me?Not only did she destroy me physically, but she also broke me mentally. She was the one who didn't want me to recover and wanted me to become a complete wreck.Heather cleared her throat before speaking hesitantly. "Christopher, our engagement photos won't turn out well with all your injuries at the moment."Why don't we have Samuel stand in for you, and we'll just edit your face onto his?"Since the person in the photos could be substituted, maybe the groom could also be changed. The moment I opened my mouth to protes
