CHAPTER SIX

I stood still, caught in between and trying to process his words and everything that's been going on. Julian was a puzzle— a dangerous but beautiful puzzle. I wasn't sure if I wanted to solve him or simply let myself get lost in it all.

“ I don't know if I should be flattered or worried” I said in a low voice

“A little bit of both wouldn't hurt” he said, his lips curling into a playful smirk

I looked away for a moment, needing space to think, his words held such a weight that I wasn't ready to carry.

“ I-I should go” I said as I slipped out of the side and towards the fireplace.

His eyes followed me as he stood there, his gaze unwavering

“Is that what you really want?” he asked

My throat suddenly felt dry. Of course it wasn't what I wanted but what I should do if I were to avoid being just a pawn in this game.

“This is complicated. I haven't made progress with the painting and I have fewer days counting down for me. I-I think I should be more focused on that” I said

    Mr Blackwood was still running away with his injured shoulder, accompanied by one security guard as they met with the back up squad detective Garrett requested for.     Marcus stood there with the gun in his hands and couldn't say a word but as soon as he was about to mention a name, Mr Blackwood cut him short. “Dont worry, I know exactly who is responsible for your mother’s death” Mr Blackwood said.He took Marcus’s hand that held the gun and pointed towards David his father. “There, there…..the man responsible” Mr Blackwood said.Marcus became comsfused as to why the gun was pointed ti his father.“No, no….it can't be my father, its Lexi’s fault that my mother died” Marcus argued.“Of course not! I should have—I should have come clean about everything with you, I am so sorry son” David apologized sincerely.“No, mom wouldn't have died if you had listened to her! All of this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't brought Lexi home!

Detective Garrett came over to the residence as he was aware of the message sent. “Here, this is a tracker.
