Chapter 8: Saved from the Madness

“Good morning, sweetheart.” 

A familiar voice greeted me when I opened my eyes.

I looked for my mother. She was standing in front of the enormous window and had just opened the closed cream-colored curtain. 

“How long have you been here?” I asked, still lying on the bed. 

“Can you hear your voice, sweetheart? You sound strained. How much did you spend drinking in a pub?” she asked, walking in my direction. 

“I just drank eight glasses of Roberta, mom. I’m not that intoxicated with alcohol,” I groaned when I tried to sit up from lying. My head hurt, and my back was in pain. 

“Then, do you know who brings you here?” I stared at my mother, who was walking towards me. She sat down next to me and swiftly stroked my hair.

I tried to remember what happened
