Chapter 33: Willow tree

There was only one place I could go. Only one place where I wanted to go.

I walked past the fighting rings, where demons were preparing for their battles. I was unseen.

Drunk demons stumbled and fell around me, but none dared to enter the silent, dark maze. I was completely alone here. Alone in the darkness.

"Hey, buddy." I said to the willow tree in the middle of the maze. This place was already becoming a sanctuary to me. The leaves of the gigantic tree swayed slowly in the soft wind, almost as if it was greeting me back. My usual, lonely seat was empty and I sat on it, hidden by the tree on this cold night. Faint sounds of an epic party echoed in the distance, and flickering lights indicated that the night was far from over. I sat and stared in silence.

Until an uncomfortable feeling washed over me.

A chill ran down my spine, the hairs on my neck rising, and my body woke up with shock. A demon was close. Very close.
