Running Off

Lisa sat in the cramped cage, her mind racing with fear and uncertainty. She had never been in such a situation before. Well she had, but it was just getting worse, and the thought of spending the night in this small, dark space was enough to make her break down in tears.

Suddenly, the door to the cage opened and Adrien walked in, his expression cold and unfeeling.

“Haha! Here she is.” He laughed to ridicule her..

Lisa shrank back, knowing that he was the one who had put her in there.

She looked up at Adrien, her eyes wide with fear and trepidation. She knew quite very well that there was no reasoning with him, and also that there was no way to make him see that what he was doing was absolutely wrong. All she could do was endure whatever punishment he had in store for her, for the mean time at least.

"What… what are you going to do to me?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Adrien smiled coldly. "Oh, I have a few ideas, you shouldn’t mind though," he said.

"But first, I want you to understand that you are completely at my mercy. You have no power here, Lila, and I think you also know that yourself. You are nothing but a prisoner in my world. You have no right to just move around as you wish and ask anyone for anything you want." Said Adrien, with his usually cold and merciless voice.

Lisa's heart sank at his words. She had always known that Adrien was a cruel man, but she had never imagined him to be so heartless. She wondered if there was any hope for her, if she would ever be able to escape his clutches.

As Adrien turned to leave the cage, Lisa called out to him, desperation in her voice. "Please, Adrien," she begged.

"I'll do anything you want. Just don't hurt me. Please don’t." She added.

Adrien paused and turned back to her, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Anything?" he repeated.

"Well, we'll see about that. But for now, you just sit tight and think about what you've done."

"I hope you've learned your lesson, girl. And if not, I guess I’ll just have to teach you the hard way." Adrien said, his voice dripping with venom.

"You disobeyed my rules, and now you will suffer the consequences. That’s one major certainty." He continued, winking at her to stylishly tell her he was enjoying her pain.

Lisa felt her heart sink. She had hoped that Adrien would show her some mercy, but it seemed that he was determined to punish her for her disobedience.

"Please, Adrien," Lisa pleaded again,

“Please.” She cried out, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't mean to disobey you. I just wanted to know more about you and why you're keeping me here. it’s not like I intend to use the information against you or anything. You know I’m totally incapable of that. I’d never try that, not in life. Please!" She continued to plead in extreme discomfort.

Adrien's expression softened slightly at her words, but the anger in his eyes remained.

"You know our rules, Lisa," he said sternly.

"And you chose to break them. I cannot let that go unpunished. If I spare you who knows the extent you might reach the next time. I’ll make sure you don’t even try it next time."

Lisa felt a sense of dread wash over her as she realized what was coming next. She had heard rumors about Adrien's punishments, and none of them were pleasant.

“I understand, but one more thing… it's okay if you punish me now," she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. She was still sobbing so seriously. "But please, don't hurt the other woman you locked up. Punish me altogether instead, but spare her. I’m to be blamed for her wrongs." She claimed.

She didn’t want her own misfortune to bring another person who was so innocent and kind as the other woman into all of these as well.

Adrien raised an eyebrow at her words, surprised by her willingness to take the punishment for someone else.

"Is that what you want, Lisa?" he asked. "To take the punishment in place of this woman?"

Lisa nodded, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Yes, yes that’s my choice," she said firmly. "I don't want anyone else to suffer because of my mistakes." She continued.

Adrien's expression softened slightly, and he let out a small sigh.

"Very well," he said, reaching out to unlock the cage door. "I will release the woman, and you can take her punishment in her place. But be warned, Lisa, this will not be easy."

Lisa felt a sense of relief wash over her as Adrien unlocked the cage door and allowed her to step out. She knew that the punishment to come would be very harsh as he had promised, but she was willing to endure it if it meant sparing someone else from Adrien's wrath.

She took a deep breath and looked around, trying to get her bearings. She had been in a small room with stone walls and a single window high up near the ceiling. The room was dimly lit, and she could barely make out the shape of a bed and a chair in the corner.

Her mind raced with fear and uncertainty, and she felt her heart pounding in her chest. She had never been in this kind of situation before, and the thought of it made her think of home. She felt a tear slide down her eyes, thinking how she should have just stayed back and gotten married to Collins.  Finding her real mate was now far worse than staying with that stupid scumbag.

As she walked away , she couldn't help but wonder what was in store for her that night.

“Would I be able to endure the punishment and come out the other side, or would I break under the pressure? Only time would tell. I guess.” She told herself.

She still remembered vividly all Adrien said when he released her,

“Very well then, get prepared for the night where I’ll punish your poor soul,” she remembered him saying. Immediately as well, he asked the guards to release the woman.

Throughout the rest of the day, Lisa's mind was in a constant state of panic and confusion. She knew she had to come up with a plan to escape, but the fear of the unknown kept gnawing at her.

“I think I have to escape, no matter what. But it’s so dangerous.” She said in her head.

“What am I exactly? A fool? How can I say it’s dangerous when it’s far more dangerous over here. I don’t know if I’ll survive after this, but I sure won’t know till I try.” She continued to reason.

As night approached, Lisa tried to steady her breathing and calm her nerves. She knew that whatever was about to happen, she had to be prepared. She searched the small room she was confined in, looking for anything that could be useful.

As she rummaged through the room, her mind raced with different escape scenarios.

“Should I wait until the guards were sleeping and try to sneak out? Or should I try to overpower them with a makeshift weapon?” She asked herself, soliloquizing unconsciously already.

The more she thought about it, the more she realized that any plan she came up with was fraught with greater danger and a greater possibility of fatal failure. The guards were armed and she was no match for them in a physical fight. And even if she managed to get past them, she had no idea where to go or how to survive in the wilderness.

As the day grew darker, Lisa huddled in the corner of her cell, feeling hopeless and defeated. The only thing she could do now was pray for a miracle, a way out of this nightmare. But deep down, she knew that the chances of that happening were slim to none.

With that realization, she was left on the edge of her lingering pains and negative emotions, wondering what fate had in store for her.
