Chapter Six

Elena's POV:

Anna was the only one who has a boyfriend. Sharon stayed in short relationships with a few boys but they didn’t last long because of her tough schedule. Anna and I have been friends since preschool and we meet Sharon in high school when she transferred to our school from England.

My both friends are beautiful; Anna has naturally burgundy hair and black eyes, her height is 1.56 m and she is the daughter of one of my dad’s business partners. She is strong, bold, and confident and doesn’t give a shit about what anyone thinks about her. Sharon on the other hand is a completely different story; she is a beauty diva struggling to make her name in professional modeling. Her main concerns are always about how she looks and what’s going on in the modeling industry. Anna and I believe that Sharon has been blessed with sharp features and a 1.77 m height which is her bonus point if she wants to be a model. But she is not confident about her looks and weight, even though she has perfect weight and a beautiful face. She has brown hair which is straight, and long and the blue-green eyes on her oval face make her look more beautiful.

“Elena, are you still here with me?” She asked.

I looked at her and frowned.

“You didn’t hear a word that I said.” She said throwing her hands up in irritation.

“Um, I’m sorry I was recalling again why we are friends.”

I said to her.

“We are your friends because we fill excitement in your boring life.” She said.

I rolled my eyes at her.

“Okay, that’s a lie. My life is not boring, I go to college, and do my assignments mostly before the submission date. Also, I work in a studio and hang out with my crazy friends.” I said.

“That’s how you define a boring life.” She said.

“Whatever floats your boat, little Annie,” I said using the name she hates.

“Don’t call me that.” She said.

I stuck my tongue out and shut down my laptop.

“Sharon, can you give me a few precious minutes of your life?” Anna asked.

Sharon sighed then got up and fell down on her back on my bed.

“We should go to a club tonight,” Anna suggested.

“Are you sure?” I asked her, getting up from the chair I was sitting on while working on my laptop.

“We have class tomorrow,” I added.

She rolled her eyes.

“I definitely need drinks, tonight,” Sharon said to herself and Anna smirked.

I was still unsure.

“Elena, we are going to the club tonight. Sharon and I need to go home and change so meet us at Nights around eight.” She said picking her bag from my bed.

Sharon followed crazy Anna out and blew kisses at me.

I decided to complete the editing of the pictures that I needed to hand to my boss tomorrow.

When I was done, I looked at the time and it was already seven. I got up and went downstairs to find my mom.

She was in the library, reading and enjoying her hot chocolate.

“Mom,” I called her to get her attention, getting inside the library.

“Yes, princess,” She asked, closing the book.

“I’m going out with Anna and Sharon. I might come late tonight.” I said.

“Elena, your dad gets worried if he doesn’t find you in a house before midnight.” She said.

My face fell.

“But I will try to keep him busy tonight for you.” She said with a mischievous smile.

I knew what she meant by keeping him busy.

“Mom, that information is too much for me. You’re turning into dad.” I said.

She smiled and said, “I’ve spent thirty years of my life with him so there’s nothing to be surprised about,”

My parents amaze me; they’re the reason why I still believe in fairy tales and true love. When most of my friends’ parents’ are getting divorced or remarrying again with their third wife or second husband, my parents are happily married for the last thirty years and are still in love with each other.

“Mom, thank you and I love you,” I said, kissing her cheek.

“Love you too, but don’t be too late.” She said.

I nodded my head and ran back upstairs to my room. I pulled out my black off-shoulder, ruched-wrapped, and mid-thigh dress with the sweetheart neckline then got changed into it. After that, I did my makeup and curled the ends of my hair. Pulling out my silver hoop earrings from the jewelry box I hurriedly put them on.

My cell phone rang and I realized it was already eight.

“Hi, Anna, I’m on the way,” I said and ended the call before she could curse me.

Lastly, I strapped my stiletto and picked up my black

clutch then stuffed my cell phone in it on the way out of my room.

Then I got in the car and left the house to meet my friends at Nights Club.

I arrived outside the Nights and the valet parking guy took the keys to my car so he can park my car. I made my way inside the club, and instantly the loud music filled my ear. I knew where to find Anna and

Sharon, so I followed the private lounge; they were sitting near the bar.

“Hello,” I said and sat down beside Sharon.

“I thought you weren’t coming,” Anna said.

I rolled my eyes at her and stole the glass of fruit punch from Sharon’s hand. I drank it in one gulp but it burned my throat.

“What the hell you were drinking, Sharon?” I asked them coughing.

They both burst into laughter and I glared at them.

“The sweet bartender Gage created this new drink with some vodka, mint, ice, and brown sugar. He asked us if we would like to taste it and tell him how it tastes. Sharon agreed to do it.” Anna told me giggling.

“It’s awful,” I said, making a face.

Gage has been working in Nights for the last two years

and he’s innocent and sweet with a baby face and blue eyes. He’s polite and always creates new drinks and then makes us experiment with them.

“Anna, just because it’s your boyfriend’s club, it doesn’t mean you can drink. It’s still illegal.” I said.

“My boyfriend is not going to tell anyone that we are drinking and neither will Gage.” She said taking a sip from her glass. She was right about that.

“Gage, can I have a margarita with blood orange juice?” I asked with a smile.

He nodded and started preparing my drink. I knew I

shouldn’t be drinking but one drink won’t do any harm, right?

Anna and Sharon were ordering drinks one after another and I felt like groaning at always ending up a designated driver.

They started dancing and joined them gulping down my drink. We were in a private area of the club so there were not many people because it will be a working day tomorrow. I felt like someone was staring at me and I glanced around to find the pair of green eyes lingering on every inch of my body.

He was in jeans and a black fitted shirt, the sleeves

were rolled up to his elbows showing muscles that he has gained in the last six years. His eyes didn’t leave me, not for a second.

“He has been staring at you for the last ten minutes without even blinking,” Sharon whispered in my ear.

“Go talk to him. He might turn out the soulmate that you’ve been waiting for since high school, Elena.” Anna said.

“He looks sexy. He has been looking at you with those eyes that say ‘I want to screw your mind out’.” Anna said.

“Let’s just ignore him and enjoy,” I said averting my eyes from him and turning my body back to my friends.

“If you’re not going to him then I can definitely show him some sexy moves and turn his attention on me,” Sharon said, winking at him.

Her words shook me. I wanted to punch her for even thinking about him this way.

Was that too harsh to think?

Have I lost my humanity for the sake of my crush?

Why doid I felt so jealous?

Where did that claim on him come from? It's not like he is mine or anything?

My mind and my heart believe he is mine even though when he doesn’t want anything to do with me.

“Sharon, you’re beautiful, but stay away from him.” I said with anger.

Her eyes widened in fear, and I cursed myself. Her head was making scenarios, building an imaginary thoughts in them. She was surely assuming I wanted to steal him forom her when I didn't.

“Do you know him?” She asked me.

“I know him. He is a close friend.” I said nervously.

“Okay,” She said.

Steve made his way toward us. “Anna, baby, are you drunk?” He asked her.

Instead of answering him, Anna attacked his mouth and kissed him.

Anna was blabbering something that Steve couldn’t understand. Sharon was gulping down her drink fast.

My eyes went back to Jake. His glass was again filled with crystal brown liquid. His eyes were swollen and face looked tired.

I felt like running towards him and slapping the damn glass away from his hand then knocking some senses in his muddled brain. But I stopped myself from doing anything.

“I think both of your friends are pretty drunk.” Steve said, breaking me out of my thoughts.

I turned to look at Anna and Sharon; they were making silly faces at each other and laughing their ass off.

“Steve, this is their kid version. Drinks always mess up with their minds.” I said.

“Come, I’ll drop you all home.” He said.

“I came here in my own car, and I’m not even drunk.” I said.

He frowned, looking at me in confusion.

"How?" He asked.

In confusion, he smelled the liquid in my glass.

"Smells okay." He said, rubbing his chin in bewilderment.

“You’re not lying, right? If Brandon will find out that you got drunk in my club and I let you drive back home, he will kill me.” He said, looking scared shitless.

"You don't remember how he broke my jaw for leaving you at the park." He asked, shuddering at the horific moment of the past where Bradon did lose control.

"What happened? Why can't I remeber?" I asked him.

"Don't you remeber what he did when i fell.

“I’m fine. Go, drop them home.” I said.

“Okay.” He said and walked to his girlfriend.

She protested at first then took his hand.

“Sharon, are you coming?” Steve asked her.

Sharoon looked at his like she didn't want to leave, but you were praying inside she would leave without creating any drama.

Sharoon had always been a dramatic kind of girl and maybe that is why she went to media. Her modling career was rocky, not very smooth despite the talent she bore.
