Fourteen

I stared at the chicken breast on my plate for the fifth time this morning. Gwen had insisted I eat up because I was growing thin. Logan had been worried and called for doctors who said I was okay and that I just needed to eat well.

“You know, looking at the food won’t make you have an appetite, just dig in” Gwen said, sitting across. Gwen was the only person Logan allowed to sit that close to me.

I poked out my tongue at Gwen and she grinned. “You are one hell of a big baby Amelia.” She said and gulped down her wine. I watched as her throat moved and raised my glass to my lips and sipped. The wine flavor hit my tongue and suddenly I felt hungry.

“I am hungry” I announced and Gwen burst into laughter.

“Seriously Amelia?” She said with a grin, “I thought you said you didn’t have an appetite” she teased and I smiled.

“The wine is something else” I said, raising my glass and she chuckled. Gwen leaned closer, suddenly serious.
