Kira then picked up the phone handle and pressed a button that connected her to the boss. After a short while, Kira said to Tony, "Just go in. Mr. Grey is waiting."
Tony nodded and knocked twice on the boss's office door. It was a rule in that place. The number of knocks indicated the purpose. If the knock was twice, it meant that it was related to an employee. If the knock was done three times, it was related to work.
After knocking, Tony turned the doorknob and opened the door. When the door opened, a man was seen bowing in front of the desk, signing some papers. Tony approached, as did Keyara.
"Sir, I want to introduce the new staff in the Character Design division."
The man who was bowing raised his face, and at that moment, Keyara's eyes widened, even without her realizing it, her mouth opened.
Although it was dark at that time, Keyara would not easily forget the man whom she had either kissed or been kissed by at the Nightclub. Now, amid a room with clearer lighting, Keyara only realized that the man was so handsome with sharp eyes, thick eyebrows, a sharp nose, and slightly thick lips.
When Grey saw Keyara, the boss was surprised that his chair shifted. But he managed to control himself.
Grey never expected that the woman who stole a kiss from him at the club would appear before him at that moment. Grey had tried to chase the girl out of the club. But the mysterious woman disappeared with the roar of a metallic sedan.
It was not usual for Grey to stand up to welcome new staff. Usually, he just looked from behind his desk, without standing up, spoke briefly, and then asked the new staff to leave and immediately join their team.
However, this time was different. Grey stood up from his seat, then he came out from behind his desk and buttoned his jacket. His eyes swept over Keyara carefully, making her feel uneasy.
"What's your name?" Grey asked before Tony introduced himself.
"My name is Keyara, Sir."
"Hm, Keyara ... Key ... your nickname must be Key?"
Keyara, whose heart had been uncontrollably pounding since earlier, tried to hold herself back.
The girl nodded when Grey mentioned her nickname. Grey's eyes were still fixed on Keyara as if scanning her entire body. Key felt like his gaze pierced through to her innermost being.
Grey smiled and then moved his hand towards Tony. "Tony, you go out first, I want to ask our new staff something." Grey's words made Keyara's heart beat faster like a shuttlecock ... damn, why did it have to be so scary?
Tony, who was standing next to Keyara, looked confused.
When Keyara looked at him, their eyes met, and Keyara felt sorry for him. It was as if Tony's eyes were saying that Keyara had to face her problem.
Keyara winced, feeling all the hair on her body stand on end suddenly due to the tension.
Tony followed the boss's orders and immediately left the boss's office, leaving Keyara alone with the cold lion in the wilderness.
Grey walked towards his desk, leaning his hip against the side of the desk. He folded his arms across his chest while looking at Keyara, who seemed to have shrunk in size.
"Last night I was looking for you," he said briefly as a perfect opening that made Keyara hold her breath for two seconds. "You're very good at running away. Maybe your parents were former runners, which is why you disappeared so quickly," Grey sneered, making Keyara stiffen in place.
Keyara Gulped, her words seemed to lump in her throat and were unable to come out. The language got stuck in her head and her usually talkative lips were tightly sealed. Grey seemed to enjoy the intimidation he gave to Keyara, even casually throwing sharp glances in her direction.
Then, Grey casually took the phone handle and pressed the button connected to his secretary, "Kira, please bring Keyara's data. She's a new employee in the Character Design division." After saying that, Grey then hung up the phone and stood up again, still staring at Keyara. Grey knew that the woman in front of him must feel awkward and helpless facing him. Grey felt proud that he had managed to suppress the daring girl who had dared to kiss him at the club.
Not long after, Kira came in carrying a data sheet. For a moment, Kira was surprised to see Keyara standing and her boss sitting leaning on the side of the table.
Unconsciously, Kira also felt sorry to see such a position. Everyone in the office knew what Grey Reed was like. A wealthy bachelor, CEO of Gametopya. He was as fierce as a guard dog catching a thief, and his decisions were brilliant. A man who was loved by many women and feared by employees.
"Here it is, Sir, the data you asked for," Kira said while handing Keyara's data sheet. Grey took it, read it quickly, and then moved his hand to signal Kira to leave the room. Kira then left, throwing a glance at Keyara for a moment, then the secretary frowned and left the room.
"Well, Keyara Jhonson, you're 24 years old, a graduate of IT. You're interested in character design and skilled in drawing and design. Your birthday is in two months, right?" Grey read the data he brought to Keyara, making the girl even more helpless.
Grey put down the paper, then walked towards Keyara, "Do you know why I'm keeping you here for so long?"
Keyara immediately raised her head, which had been lowered since she entered Grey's room. For the first time in ten minutes, Keyara dared to look into her boss's face.
"Sir, if you want to discuss yesterday's incident, I'm sorry. It was just an accident. I swear, if I knew it was you, I wouldn't have done it..." Keyara stopped her words, swallowing her bitter saliva before continuing, "I would never do that to you..." Keyara replied softly.
"So, you would do it to any other man? Is that what you mean?" Grey asked, making Keyara even more restless and nervous.
"No, Sir, it was just a game...a game I played with my friends," Keyara's voice grew quieter.
Now Grey nodded, "I see. I understand. So, you lost in the Truth or Dare game and accepted the challenge to kiss a man--any man? Is that right?"
Keyara's face turned red with embarrassment, and as she had no right answer, she just nodded.
"Lift your head, Key..." Suddenly, Grey pressed Keyara's chin until she looked up. "If you like games, I'll give you a similar game to your Truth or Dare. You have to answer my questions, and if your answer is wrong, you'll receive a punishment. Do you understand?"
"Uh, Sir, why?" Keyara protested immediately.
"Wrong answer!"
Suddenly, Grey kissed Keyara's lips, making the girl freeze.
Keyara felt almost choked up seeing Grey arrive. She hadn't expected Grey to come at all. How did he come? Keyara looked towards her father, her eyes betraying curiosity. Seeing Mr. Oliver's gaze, Keyara knew that Mr. Oliver must have been the one to inform Grey that he should come.Grey burst in, then swiftly pulled Keyara's body out of the chair and embraced her tightly. Keyara even found it difficult to breathe for a moment."I'm grateful you're back, I truly had no idea where else to look for you!" Grey exclaimed with joy.Keyara tried to hold her breath as Grey continued to hold her tightly, but at the thirtieth second, she couldn't bear it any longer. She attempted to convey to Grey that she was having trouble breathing in such a tight embrace.Grey quickly released his embrace. He smiled with happiness."Ah, now that Grey is here. Grey should also take a seat," Keyara said.Grey nodded and promptly took a seat on their sofa."Where have you been, Key? What have you been doing,
Keyara was startled, quickly gripping Ares' hand and then leaning over, getting closer to his face."Ares... you awake?!" Keyara asked with a mixture of anxiousness and joy.Ares' initial response was just a slow movement of his fingers, then his mouth moved gradually. Seeing Ares' lips moving, Keyara leaned in closer, placing her ear nearby. She could hear a faint and gentle voice."Yara..."Keyara immediately tightened her grip on Ares' hand. "Yes, I'm here...""Yara..." Ares' voice sounded weak. "Water..." He uttered, prompting Keyara to press the button to call the nurse.A few moments later, several nurses and doctors entered the ICU room. Keyara stepped back against the side wall, watching as the doctors busied themselves examining Ares, ensuring his condition, checking his vital signs, and his consciousness.Berry, standing behind the large glass window, looked on with joyful eyes. He was thankful that his boss had awakened from his coma. After a while, the doctor turned to fac
Grey was seen fixing his tie and then admiring himself in the mirror. Today wasn't Sunday; he had rearranged his schedule and would arrive around noon. His plan for the day was to visit Keyara, take her out for a while, and then return to the office.Grey decided to take it slow, considering that Keyara hadn't regained her memories yet. It must have been quite a shock, but Grey was confident that if he reassured Keyara, their marriage could be restored. Thus, Grey whistled happily, imagining all the positive things in his mind. As he descended the stairs, his cheerful demeanor caught the attention of his mother, Ms. Maple."Grey, why do you look so delighted? Is there something pleasing you?" Ms. Maple inquired upon seeing Grey's joyful attitude.Ah, Grey smirked and realized he hadn't shared the joyful news of Keyara's return with his parents yet."Well, you could say that," Grey replied, then approached and joyfully kissed his mother's cheek."Oh, are you going to share it with me?"
"Miss..." Berry tried to gently pull Keyara back to prevent her from falling."Now, where is he?" Keyara asked, her voice trembling. Tears had already started streaming down her cheeks."Mr. Ares is currently at the hospital," Berry replied.Keyara clenched her fists, her hands pressed against her lips in distress. "Bring me there, Berry. I need to see him," Keyara said, her voice quivering as she fought back tears.Berry nodded. He would do just that. Berry guided Keyara towards his car, where the headlights still illuminated them. He opened the back door for her to make it easier for her to get in. Keyara looked uneasy as she got in, sitting down with shallow breaths. For the first time, Keyara felt as if her heart had plunged into a dark swamp. Upon hearing the news of Ares being in a coma, she felt like quicksand was pulling her down and ready to swallow her.Berry drove with occasional glances back through the rearview mirror. He saw Keyara's pale face. Berry was actually relieve
Keyara held her breath. She had accidentally stepped outside her room, intending to go downstairs for a drink, but the conversation between her parents was audible from where she stood. Her heart felt wounded. Even though they were her parents, hearing them say that the child she had given birth to was unwanted hurt deeply. Keyara slowly retreated and then re-entered her room.Keyara curled up on the bed, burying her face in her knees. Her feelings were crushed. While she knew the truth about Ares and Lion, who were considered her birth parents, were unremembered entities to her. Even Grey. Although Keyara had once been infatuated with Grey and thought about him, her memories of Grey were limited to their meeting in Spain.Keyara felt like she didn't belong here. She didn't recognize this room. Despite her many photos displayed on the walls, she didn't know any of those faces.Keyara pressed her face into her knees, drowning her confusion and sadness. It seemed like just yesterday her
Keyara fell silent in her room, tears streaming down her face. Her memories hadn't returned yet, but the recent events had hit her heart hard. She had been deceived, for a very long time.Keyara suddenly bit her lip, how could she have been in love with Ares back then? Letting that man claim her, while he had already committed a grave wrong against her.Keyara still seemed visibly shaken. Trying to process all the new information was like attempting to digest an overwhelming wave. She felt the need to be alone, closing and locking her door. Though her surroundings felt unfamiliar due to her memory issues, she recognized that this was her room. From behind the closed door, a knocking sound reached her ears. Keyara hastily wiped her tears away. Clearing the traces of her emotions that were still lingering."Who is it?" Keyara asked, her voice slightly louder than usual."Key, it's me..." Grey's voice sounded.Keyara fell silent, her face now pale. The barrage of incoming information fel
