Chapter Eight

My dad chuckled at my naivety, which pissed me off even more. Like this situation wasn’t bad enough, I didn’t need to be laughed at or treated like a child.

“Kiddo, they’re in full-blown Alpha mode right now. You have no idea what they’re capable of. They’re running on pure animal instinct and that instinct is telling them that you’re their mate and we’ve taken you away from them. They’ll kill us all!”

I stood in silence, glancing back and forth between my mom and dad. Their worried expressions didn’t waver and I found myself battling my own thoughts. I couldn’t believe that Chase or Jesse would kidnap me, or hurt me in any way, but seeing the way they had been manipulated by the spells painted on the walls, I couldn’t be sure of much anymore.
