The morning sickness hit me like a storm. The moment I opened my eyes, nausea rushed through me so fiercely that I barely made it to the bathroom in time. My body trembled as I held on to the sink, my face pale, my lips dry. When I looked up at the mirror, the woman staring back at me looked like a stranger—skin pale white, eyes swollen and red from the tears I had cried earlier.

Before I could steady myself, my phone began to ring. The sound pierced through the silence of the room, dragging me back to reality. I staggered to the bedroom and picked it up.

It was my secretary.

“Mrs. Markston,” Jeannie’s gentle voice said. “The CEO wants to see you immediately. There’s a very important meeting today.”

The CEO. My husband. Vincent.

I let out a bitter smile that hurt more than it comforted. Only this morning, he noticed I wasn’t feeling well. He had told me to go and see the family doctor. But now… he was summoning me as if nothing else mattered.

I closed my eyes for a moment, forcing the pain away. Then I dressed quickly, hiding the pale sickness of my face under layers of makeup.

Jeannie was waiting for me in front of the office, holding a cup of coffee.

“Are you feeling better now?” she asked softly, her eyes full of worry. “I got you some coffee.”

“Much better now,” I lied with a strained smile, taking the warm cup from her hands.

But something was off. “Jeannie, tell me, what is this meeting really about? There was nothing scheduled this week.”

Her expression stiffened, and her gaze dropped to the floor.

“There is no meeting,” she whispered.

I froze. “What?”

“It was Ms. Lillian… She told me to call you. She said she needed the design for the Enchanting Necklace.”

My chest burned with fury. Did they think I was just a doll, to be dragged here and there?

“The project isn’t due until next month,” I said through clenched teeth.

“I told her that,” Jeannie admitted. “But she insisted. And… the boss agreed. Even when I told him you were sick.”

I bit my lip hard enough to taste blood, holding back tears. My legs moved on their own as I marched straight toward Vincent’s office. I didn’t need Jeannie to point the way—I could already hear Lillian’s laughter spilling through the door.

I pushed the door open.

Vincent was on the sofa, reading through documents. Lillian sat proudly in his CEO chair, wearing a short, expensive dress that probably cost more than I had ever dared to spend.

“Oh, look who’s here,” Lillian’s voice dripped with malice. “How are you, sister? I’m so glad to see you.”

I ignored her. My voice was directed only at Vincent. “What is the meaning of this?”

Without even lifting his head, he spoke. “Do whatever she says.”

My anger boiled. “Don’t go too far, Vincent. You know very well that the necklace project isn’t due for another month.”

“I need it today,” Lillian cut in, smirking. “You’ll design it now.”

“Watch your words,” I snapped. “I don’t work for you. That necklace is a masterpiece for our partners in China, not your personal toy.”

“She says she wants it,” Vincent finally looked up, his gaze sharp. “Do you have a problem with that?”

“Yes. I do,” I said firmly, my voice stronger than even I expected.

For the first time, they both looked surprised.

“Repeat that,” Vincent growled, dropping the papers in his hands.

“I said I have a problem with it!” I yelled, my voice cracking but steady. “First, I’m on sick leave. Second, she is not my boss. And third, that design does not belong to her!”

My hands trembled as I stepped closer. “And you, Vincent—you knew this morning I wasn’t well. You told me yourself to go to the doctor!”

Lillian suddenly stood, her face painted with fake concern. “Oh no, sister, you’re sick? I didn’t know…”

Moments later, Vincent left the room, leaving only me and her.

Her expression changed instantly. The sweetness vanished.

“A loser will always remain a loser,” Lillian spat, her voice sharp as knives. “Do you remember when you were dumped in my mother’s care because your poor, useless father had no money?”

“Don’t you dare talk about my father like that,” I warned, my voice low.

“I can talk about him however I want,” she sneered. “I’m Mother’s favorite. And Vincent? He listens to me. Whatever I say, he will believe.”

I smirked bitterly. “We may share the same mother, but I will never be like you. You think traveling abroad covered up your sins? Not for me. I know what you did.”

Her face twisted with rage. “Your father is nothing but a greedy home-wrecker. He knew my mother had someone she loved and he still chased after her just for her family's money. He should be dead by now, paying for his sins—”

“Slap!

My hand landed across her cheek before I could stop myself. The sound echoed like thunder. And then—another slap.

For a moment, silence filled the office. Lillian’s face burned red. Then slowly, a wicked grin spread across her lips.

Her eyes darted to the door.

Before I realized what she was doing, she dropped to her knees, tears spilling as she cried out, “Sister, forgive me! I was only worried about your father!”

The door opened.

Vincent stood there. His cold eyes cut straight through me.

“Vincent, it’s not what it looks like—” I began.

But Lillian had already rushed into his arms, sobbing, her face swollen and red. “Brother Vincent, I only wanted to talk about our childhood. I asked about her father’s health, but she attacked me. She beat me so badly…”

“Vincent, that’s not what happened!” I cried.

But he didn’t even listen.

“You’re disgusting, Alice,” he spat, his voice like ice. “She’s your younger sister. You should treat her with care. Without her help, you wouldn’t even be here.”

Something inside me snapped. “Shut up, Vincent! Do you think I’m happy working in this cursed company of yours?”

For a brief moment, something flickered in his eyes—pain, maybe doubt—but it was gone instantly. His face hardened.

“Apologize,” he ordered. His voice was sharp, dangerous.

“I won’t.”

His expression darkened. “Then you leave me no choice. Pack your things. HR will handle the rest.”

The air left my lungs. My whole world crashed around me.

“You’re… dismissing me?” My voice broke, but I forced my chin up.

His silence was the final knife.

“I understand… sir.”

I turned and walked away, my heart breaking with every step.

But deep inside, I knew… this wasn’t the end.

I raised my hand and pointed directly at the dress Lilian had just claimed herself.I disowned that dress. The words didn’t echo, but the reaction did.The whole crowd erupted in whispers, muttering, asking if I was crazy or what. The sound rose like a swarm—confused, sharp, cruel. I could hear my name being dragged through mouths that didn’t even know me. I could feel judgment pressing down on my shoulders like invisible hands.Lilian was already frozen there shivering. For the first time since I walked into that hall, she didn’t look confident. Her smile cracked, just slightly, but enough. Her fingers clenched around the fabric near her waist, knuckles whitening, breath uneven. She tried to compose herself, and she stared at me.Her eyes weren’t triumphant anymore. They were afraid. She asked me what was I saying, like if I was insane or what." Are you sick upstairs, Ms Alice?" She asked with a forced smile. Her voice sounded louder than it should have, sharp and brittle, like glas

The day of the competition arrived without ceremony. No thunder. No warning. Just a quiet heaviness in my chest as I stepped out of the car and into the venue, the sound of cameras and voices crashing into me all at once. The building was already alive—investors, designers, critics, journalists, assistants rushing back and forth with clipboards and tablets, heels clicking sharply against polished floors. This was it.I had imagined this day so many times before. Dreamed of it when I was younger, when competitions still felt like opportunities instead of battlefields. Now, standing here, I felt none of that excitement. Only clarity.Cold. Sharp. Unwavering.I knew what I was doing. And more importantly, I knew what she was doing.I walked inside calmly, my expression neutral, my back straight. I could feel eyes on me—some curious, some judgmental, some openly hostile. The whispers followed me like a shadow. That’s her.The one from the scandal. Is she really still here?I didn’t reac

By the time I left the boardroom that noon, my legs felt heavier than they should have. Not weak—just tired in a way that went deeper than muscle. The kind of exhaustion that settled into the bones after holding yourself together for too long. I walked down the hallway slowly, heels clicking against the marble floor, every sound echoing louder than necessary. People passed me, some nodding politely, some offering small smiles that carried relief more than warmth.Relief that the storm had quieted.I didn’t return any of it with enthusiasm. I simply nodded back, professional, composed, distant.Inside, my mind wouldn’t stop turning.Someone did this. Lillian That thought followed me like a shadow as I stepped into the elevator. The doors slid shut, cutting me off from the rest of the floor, and for the first time since morning, I was alone. Truly alone. The silence pressed in.I leaned back against the mirrored wall, my reflection staring back at me—eyes tired, lips pressed together,

  • We Divorced Now He Wants Me Back (Billionaire Contract Wife)   Afraid Of Losing Her

Noon light spilled through the sheer curtains of the hotel room, pale and uninvited, cutting across the polished marble floor like it had every right to be there. Vincent sat on the edge of the bed, jacket discarded, sleeves rolled just enough to expose the tension in his forearms. He hadn’t slept. Not really. Sleep required peace, and peace was a luxury he hadn’t afforded himself since the morning exploded. The city outside was alive—cars, people, noise but inside this room, everything felt suspended. Waiting. He stared at his phone, screen dark now, though he’d checked it more times than he could count. No messages from Alice. None from the penthouse either. He hadn’t expected any. She wouldn’t come to him. Not after everything. Still, the silence pressed against his chest harder than any accusation ever could.A soft knock broke the stillness.“Come in,” he said, voice low, controlled. The door opened, and Noah stepped inside, tablet in hand, expression sharp and business-focused—b

The chaos hit him like a silent explosion. He didn’t even need to look at the tablet in Alice’s hands to know the disaster unfolding outside these walls. The tension in the kitchen, the tightness in Alice’s jaw, the slight tremor in her fingers as she gripped the device—he felt it all without a word being spoken.Vincent Markston, CEO, the man everyone feared and obeyed, the man who could command armies of employees, financiers, and legal experts with a single word, now sat frozen in the middle of the breakfast room, watching a storm he hadn’t anticipated.A storm with Alice at the center of it.He had seen attacks before. On businesses, on stocks, on public figures. But this? This was personal. This was reckless, precise, and malicious. Someone had aimed for Alice, and they had done it quickly—too quickly for any ordinary reaction. He noticed every detail. The headlines, the faces, the tone, the videos—scouts, competitors, the way people shouted her name only to condemn her. Plagiari

Breakfast had started calmly enough. For a moment, for a few fleeting minutes, it had almost felt normal. Almost like nothing was wrong. Almost like the boys were just… kids. Like the sun was shining, the kitchen smelled like food, and the world hadn’t conspired against her yet.But the quiet tension, the fragile peace she had worked so hard to maintain, evaporated faster than she could swallow her first bite.Mary Jane appeared at the door quietly, almost ghostlike, eyes wide and cautious, a small figure trying not to intrude. Her hands were shaking slightly as she held out a tablet.Alice’s heart clenched instinctively.“What is it?” she asked, rising slightly from her chair.Mary Jane’s voice was soft, hesitant. “I… I’m sorry, Alice. I didn’t mean to ruin breakfast. But you need to see this.”Alice took the tablet slowly, as if it were a fragile object that could break in her hands. The boys, absorbed in their own plates, glanced up curiously, sensing that something was different.
