~ DAISY'S POV ~

I do not say anything as I am completely frozen, still sitting on the couch. Even my phone feels like it added more weight in my hand and it is one of the reasons I pulled it away from my ear.

I can even hear my own breath.

Why will she call me now to tell me all this?

I slowly return the phone to my ear and then I move my lips to speak, to demand answers and to unleash the storm building in my chest but before a single word can leave my throat, she does not give me the chance

  • Five Years Too Late, Ex-husband!   Wake Up, Dad!

~ DAISY'S POV ~My worried eyes are still on my father's face. I am so scared for him because the monitor is still beeping loudly and sharply.I mean, his lips move, but no sound comes out. I want to ask him what is wrong. I want to tell him to stay calm but before I can speak, his eyes close slowly and his head falls to the side against the white pillow. He passes out immediately and goes completely quiet and still.“Father!” I cry out, reaching out immediately for his cold hands. But then, a loud noise breaks the silence as Vanessa’s piercing scream for help fills the air. It is a very loud sound that cuts through the silent room. It makes my ears hurt. She screams again and again, sounding like she is in total terror.I turn around fast to see her. She is standing right by the door, her hand over her mouth and her eyes wide. She looks like she is watching a horror movie but to me, she is making a very big scene. But I do not look at her fake tears. I think about the moment before m

I slowly return the phone to my ear and then I move my lips to speak, to demand answers and to unleash the storm building in my chest but before a single word can leave my throat, she does not give me the chance as the line goes completely dead. She ended the call on me and she did not bother to wait for my response if I actually got her message. But all in all, she did not even ask if I was okay and she did not care about the years when no conversation happened between us.She just dropped a bomb into my ears and walked away.Of course she did… The Typical Victoria Sterling. I look at the dark screen of my phone and a cold anger starts to fill my heart and it burns hot inside my chest. Why does my fat

  • Five Years Too Late, Ex-husband!   The Fun Is Ruined

~ DAISY'S POV ~My eyes cloud with tears as I gaze at Sebastian.A little of my makeup seems to fade at my lower lashes, blurring the magnificent sight of the grand dining hall, the glowing amber chandeliers and the massive walk of white roses spelling out my name.I gasp as my breath catches in my throat. I stand completely frozen in the center of the vast dining floor not knowing what to do or say. I just stand there as a few stray flower petals slide down my bare shoulders, pooling around my feet like drops of colorful rain.My heart is beating faster now and I can hear it in my ears. I even wonder if Sebastian can hear it too because it sounds so loud in my ears, and it's all because of the shock I'm feeling that leaves me utterly defenseless.I look at him… I really look at him… as the rich, resonant chords of the grand piano continue to swell throughout the empty hall, wrapping around me like a blanket of romantic warmth.I mean he remembers my birthday.Realizing that alone se

  • Five Years Too Late, Ex-husband!   Happy Birthday, Beautiful.

~ DAISY'S POV ~I know Damien played behind the scenes to endure Vanessa's planned work and just the thought of it, the cold realization settles deep in my bones, hardening into an icy resolve as I recall the clues that led me straight to his door.He thought he was a ghost, a master or a puppeteer pulling strings from the dark while Vanessa took all the blame for the initial attack on me.He stood back, acting like the innocent man in his white doctor's coat using it as a shield to not be tagged as a suspect and he was completely convinced that his tracks were buried under his profession as a doctor.Even when he spoke to me about Vanessa… I also caught his lie about seeing Vanessa with the waitress.I remember the exact moment the fabrication fell from his lips. He had sat across from me in that secluded, quiet coffee shop, leaning forward with an expression of deep concern as he claimed he had randomly spotted them talking near the service entrance. He thought he was being clever,

  • Five Years Too Late, Ex-husband!   Reap What You Sow

~ DAISY'S POV ~I recount back to when Mason had reacted to the drugs.I had nostalgic recollections of the past as the memory hit me like a sudden, freezing wave of panic. I remember the high, piercing beep of the heart monitor in his room.I remember the way his tiny body had convulsed under the white hospital blankets, his lips turning to a terrifying shade of blue while I rushed to get Damien to come to his aid and help him out.He told me then it was just a standard allergic reaction, probably a sudden spike in his weak system. But I was suspicious.A mother knows when something is wrong. Mason has never reacted that way before. The medications have always helped him, calmed him, made him feel a little better, so what happened then? That was when I noticed the medicine vial on the tray. It looked different. I saw it through the light that shone on it that day. My gut was screaming at me that someone was tampering with my boy's fragile life, but I had no proof. I had to wait and

  • Five Years Too Late, Ex-husband!   Big Twist: Damien In his Own Shit

~ DAISY'S POV ~Everything Sebastian's told me back at the VIP room sounds so annoying to me that I don't want to hear him speak anymore.I wonder who he thinks I am now? Has he ever sat down to reflect and think about his past actions toward me? I mean, why will you keep thinking I'm the same girl you once knew despite my actions and attitude? He should know I hate him by now and he should know I don't want anything to do with him again, so why the fuck does he still keep disturbing me? Why is he still trying to make me trust him and see him as the good guy? Does he expect me to forget the years of rejection, the years of humiliation I suffered at his hands while he kept choosing Vanessa even till now.I walk away from him as I don't want to hear anymore of his manipulations and the way he has always believed he will have his way.Not anymore.I get to my car, unlock the door, enter and then shut the door, slamming it so that it makes a loud sound. The car blocks out the cold evenin
