Se connecterMirelle's POV
I sighed weakly, my shoulders dropping in defeat as reality slowly set in my head. I hated wishing I had made better choices after doing something I initially thought was the best, but here I was, drenched in the feeling of guilt. Sincerely, what does someone even do in this kind of situation? Of course, there wouldn't be any clear answer because this was the nastiest thing ever. My whole body twisted in disgust at the thought that he knew who I was and still accepted having sex with me. I pushed his hand away from my chin and straightened up. My move made him adjust back a bit. “I will not waste my time here with an old horn-dog.” I hissed, proceeding to walk away, but he grabbed me by my wrist and pulled me back. I grumbled and stubbornly wriggled my hand out of his grip again, but knew so well not to dare move as his gaze pierced through my face. “Old horn-dog?” He sighed in disbelief, “I am barely even thirty-three,” He scoffed bitterly. I blinked my eyes up to see the way his jaw tightened. “Don't accuse me like that when you were literally begging me to have you for the night despite the way I rejected you. And for the first time in my life, I was trying to be a gentleman by bringing you over to relax since I thought it might be what your body needed. When we got here, you confessed that you needed intimacy because my nephew was cheating on you with a freaking maid. I had to give in to a woman in need. You can't blame me, Mirelle.” He said those so sharply that I could hear him mock my hypocrisy. I winced as the room went quiet. “I am sorry about what happened last night.” “You are not apologizing for the right thing, woman!” He scolded, making me shiver at the way he suddenly raised his voice. This fellow can't be serious right now. Why does he think he can speak to me like I am his little sister? You are his little niece. My head corrected me. “I don't know what you want, but don't tell anyone. It needs to end here, and that's it. You are old enough to understand what I mean,” I said calmly, waving my hand in between the two of us. A teasing smirk spread on his handsome face as he nodded his head with his eyes focused on the open part of my chest. “I am not old enough to forget the woman who was screaming for me to stop slamming deep into her while begging for more at the same time, Mirelle. And of course, I don't share such sweet moments with anyone because it's only mine to fantasize about.” His voice was firmly possessive. The way he said each word slowly in his husky voice made my stomach heat up. All of a sudden, an image of my legs spread up on each side of his shoulder as he pushed in deep into me, making me moan loudly in pure ecstasy flashed through my head. My lips dropped at that wild scene. “I am out of here,” I gulped nervously and rushed out of the room. "A driver is waiting for you outside to take you back!" I heard Asher's soft manly laugh as he called after me, but I didn't look back at all. I was gasping for air so badly. I swear, it will take me years to erase what happened between us from my head. Only his to fantasize about?! That was just too much. At least he had already mentioned that he didn't share his intimate moments. Mature enough, I guess, but I will try my best to avoid him as much as I can. Thankfully, the way out of the mansion was self-explanatory. It was easier to find the car that would take me back because the driver signaled to me. I just lowered my head so that my hair would cover my face, and when we were a few metres away from the estate where I live, I told him to drop me off. I didn't want to get into more mess, so I just rushed towards the direction of my home with my leg, running as fast as I could. I tiptoed inside, making sure that I didn't make any sound. "What do you think you are doing?" A voice snarled behind me, making me freeze with my hand on my room door. It was my father's unhappy wife. Well, actually, my adoptive father as he had been the one taking care of me after my father's sudden death. I slowly turned around, raising my head high. "I am trying to get into my room, of course," I said, pointing at the door. Damn, this woman is so ugly. I couldn't believe that I once cried when she scolded me not to call her mother. "Where were you last night when we were searching for you? We thought you fled because we know how much you've hated being in a relationship with Lucas" I wouldn't have waited till engagement night if that was my plan. Ugh. "So?" I shrugged my shoulders, unable to hide my annoyance. "The party had ended when I left. Who would have wanted to see me?" She scoffed, giving me the dirtiest stare from my head to my toes. "Your fiancée, of course. In fact, you do not deserve such a sweet and kind man. He was the one stressing over how to help your father last night after his condition got worse, and even drove him all the way to the hospital. You are nothing but a disgraceful slut who should have been dumped in a trash bin, but my silly husband thought it was a good idea to take you in because he thought you would be a good daughter. You are a wasted effort!" She shouted angrily, pointing an accusing finger at me. Those days when my heart would shatter at such piercing insults were gone. "If you know that, why didn't you give him a child he could count on, you wicked, barren old hag!" I said those words one after the other while looking deep into her eyes. A loud gasp escaped from her mouth. Her hands slowly pointed to herself, trying to be sure that the insult was for her. I folded my arms and confidently nodded my head. “Yes, you” Her eyes reddened at once. "How dare you!" She cried out and rushed over to grab my hair; her fingers tangled into my hair, yanking it so hard that pain shot across my scalp.MIRELLE'S POV I watched quietly, ignoring the way my body was shivering with horror.“Why do you think you can keep doing that to me? We are not even on good terms,” She whined, pushing his hand away when he tried to touch her again.“What does that have to do with me?” Lucas smirked flirtatiously. My skin crawled with disgust at the way they acted like a perfectly normal couple. This is literally a stepmother and son in a secret relationship that no one knows how long it has been going on!I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, but I just wrapped my hand over my throat instead to stop myself from losing it. “You could have at least defended me when your father kept saying in my presence that Mirelle will soon become the madam of this house, even though he never allows me to have full control over the activities in here or fulfill any kind of intimate rights with me. I felt so insulted because he has always prioritized other women's needs and ignored me like a piece of trash.” S
MIRELLE'S POV All in all, ten years ago, Lucas was fifteen. So his father started making it clear that he had no say in his love life. How strange, and most importantly, why me? It's more concerning that he is opening up to me. Judging from the way he keeps stretching every word that comes out of his mouth, it's clear that he is currently under the influence of something. He doesn't sound normal. The wine that was served wasn't alcoholic. What could it be? “He is scared of losing you,” He began, his face twisting bitterly. “Really?” I let out a fake gasp just to keep the conversation going. “Yes. My father wouldn't be triggered by the whole relationship thing if it wasn't deeply important to him, and I guess it's all related to the empire that he holds dear to his heart.” Lucas shook his head, blinking his eyes drowsily. I think whatever was disturbing him has just begun to take a huge toll, because his forehead has become damp with sweat even though it's cold here. “Fathe
MIRELLE'S POV Lucas's father raised an eyebrow at his son, slightly pushing his jaw forward toward his wife in a way to silently ask what could be wrong with her. I shifted my eyes back to Lucas, who only shrugged his shoulders, indicating that he had no idea why his stepmother acted like that. I feel like it's because of my presence in the Villa tonight, or the joke about me becoming the mistress of the house soon. The elderly man walked forward, while we followed him behind. The moment I stepped into the huge villa, the cold air from the air conditioning brushed against my skin. The polished marble floor gleamed beneath the massive crystal chandelier, while expensive furniture and elegant decorations filled the spacious interior. We walked into the living room, where a long, luxurious couch sat in the middle beneath another beautiful chandelier. Everything smelled like money. Mr. St Ledger pointed towards one of the couches. “Both of you should sit down. We need to t
MIRELLE'S POV I couldn’t stop shaking after that little conversation with Asher. He caught me crying, and I was ashamed. I kept walking until I got to the side of the Villa that leads to the garden. I didn't want to go back there, and be with them. So, I turned to look at my reflection through the tinted window, noticing how teary my eyes had become. I quickly used my finger to wipe away every trace of tears, but my mind kept dragging me back to Asher. This was an opportunity to apologize to him, and it felt decent to do that now. It doesn't matter if things have ended between us, but it's better to admit to my mistakes. Without giving it a second thought, I turned around and started running back to the place he packed his car. I ignored the little pains in my stomach that were threatening to tear off my abdomen, and kept on dragging my legs forward. Asher was already in his car, and just as I got closer, he drove out past me at full force, but I think he saw me because he
ASHER'S POV Today had been a disastrous day. While coming here, I crashed my car into a huge pole because of the headache that has bean threatening to make me go psycho. The act of working until your skin starts peeling off has always been glorified in the medical world, but I had somehow managed to keep my schedule under control no matter what. Many of my colleagues used to envy me because I had always been able to stay healthy. It's been a different story ever since I came back to this fucking country. Maybe it's cursed.I now had dark circles under my eyes. What?!So many people are unhealthy, and the number of patients needing treatment in the neurology department was overwhelming.I haven't had a productive conversation with my private investigator ever since the day I shunned him. He tried to reveal some information to me, but I told him to pause. How could a job I had always vowed to give my all to, even if I were sinking in the ocean, become something I had grown bored o
MIRELLE'S POV I snatched my eyes away from Lucas instantly, my heart beating hard against my chest as I watched the man behind my restlessness for the past weeks. The warm glow from the elegant garden lights illuminated his reflection as he walked closer to us.He looked so worn out, and it was easy to guess that he had come straight from the hospital after a long day. Yet, he had still made time to honor his elder brother’s invitation to the little celebration.I stylishly pushed Lucas’s hand away from my chin as I lowered my eyes to my hands that were clasped on my lap.Why am I feeling so nervous?I couldn’t ignore how hurt I was by the fact that he hadn’t spared me a single glance.I raised my head again just in time to watch Mr. Williams rush to his side and pull him into a brief side hug. His reluctance was obvious in the way he responded to the gesture before gently taking his seat beside his elder brother. They exchanged a blank stare before turning their attention back to e
