"Elena..."

Seeing my face covered in blood, a clear hint of guilt flashed in Pheisar's eyes.

His hand froze mid-air, looking like he wanted to reach out and touch me. He hesitated, then finally took a step toward me.

Selene put a hand on her forehead, swaying slightly, as if she might collapse any second.

Her voice was fragile, like it would scatter in the wind. "Go check on Elena, don't worry about me..."

"Selene!"

The moment Pheisar saw her stumble, he immediately turned to support her, his entire focus snapping back to her.

That swiftly passing guilt was like a shooting star—it appeared and vanished.

It made sense.

In his mind, I wouldn't die. I wouldn't leave him.

Selene was different. She was the she-wolf he had cherished since he was a boy.

No matter how disappointed or heartbroken he made me, he could never watch her suffer.
