LOGINNada’s POV
“He’s going to donate sperm for Alisa?” I repeated, trying to process why the sperm donation for her to get pregnant.
Harvey had known Alisa from the start, from his childhood days while I only met him in college. While I was his girlfriend, he still maintained the closeness with Alisa, as his bestie till they joined the police while I graduated to be a stay-at-home wife, so I could give him all my time and affection.
I studied law and my dream from childhood has always been to become a lawyer and then a judge one day. I, a lawyer, him, a cop. We would have made the cutest of law couples in our uniforms. However the moment I fell for Harvey, my dream began to go down the drain, particularly after we married. I dropped it till further notice, I wanted to care for my big baby.
Being from a wealthy family of multi-billionaires real estate investors, I didn’t need to work for a living, I could only chase my dream for the love of it but Harvey had swallowed that love. He became my one and only love. For his sake, despite my wealth, I forsake everything to stoop low to his level, an ordinary wife, giving all my attention.
I always believed they were just best friends no matter how close he was to her and how clingy she was with him, I never thought they could come up to him wanting to get her pregnant.
“For what exactly?” Betrayal was screaming in my mind. Or could it be that her husband is impotent? But Alisa doesn’t have a husband, nor a fiancee.
I turned, racing towards them. I needed answers to all these. Harvey paused and turned around in shock. Alisa with a smirk.
“Harvey, you’re breaking your promise to my dad again? Why does this have to be today, after the recent promotion I got for you?”
“Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here?” I screamed, bursting into tears, afraid to lose my husband after so many years. I didn’t care much about the labor pains that were beginning to rumble in my stomach.
“I thought you came here for me but now I’m seeing you with Alisa?”
By his silence, reality slowly crept in. “You mean you didn’t come to see me give birth to your kids?” I repeated and he nodded.
“What do you mean?” I grabbed him by the wrist, trying to drag him, believing this whole thing was a prank. While I was going to surprise him with triplets, he was here to surprise me as well.
But he stood still, resisting. Then Alisa stormed towards us, grabbed his wrist and he followed. Shock was an understatement. I still didn’t want to believe what was going on until I followed them to the ward Alisa took him to.
SPERM DONOR.
It was boldly written at the top of the door. The doctor walked out to meet them with a file in hand. Slowly, it was getting real.
“What are you here to do? Harvey?” I growled, now furious. My heart quivered.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before now, I never wanted to hurt you until the day I confirmed you’re playing me and you will never be able to make me a father. I paid Nada to take in, carry my baby and give birth for me. We already had a contract marriage the day you told me your fibroids had turned to triplets.”
“That day I realized I wasn’t ready to be played by you any longer.”
“So get lost!”
His voice cruised through me, rude and brutal. His brilliant eyes turned red. Alisa flung the diamond ring on her middle finger, something I’d never noticed.
“If you knew I was eyeing him from the very start, you would never play with him.”
My world collapsed seeing the husband whom I thought loved me so much not believe me upon bringing a doctor’s report from the best hospital in Brooklyn, the very hospital he thought to come for his sperm donor.
It was clear he had always been more than a best friend to Alisa, he’s just using my fibroids before as an excuse.
My heart cut.
Suddenly, pain began to rumble inside of me, extending to my tummy and waist. My head spinned as I grabbed it, feeling dizzy. I began to gasp for breath, then grabbed my tummy.
My water broke.
“Ahh—hhhhhh.” My voice rang up in agony. Then I lifted my eyes, staring at Harvey with pleas in my eyes. The world was crumbling on my feet at the moment and I needed someone to come to my help.
“Mr. Harvey, I don’t have much time left. The sperm is best donated after thirty minutes of the female getting injected. This can only be done once in a year for the health effects.”
“It’s almost past thirty minutes. You either do it now or forget about it for the rest of your life because she isn’t going to conceive again.”
With the last ounce of energy in me, I yelled at the doctor. “You’ve seen a woman in labor and instead of asking him to help me, you are talking about—“ I pointed at Alisa. It was all I could say before my words failed.
“You must be his mistress, ma’am. He clearly states this is his wife so we have no regard for any other woman aside from his wife.”
The scene began to blur before me but my ears arched to the words of the doctor. I catched my last glance of Harvey pondering if he was supposed to help me or go in with Alisa. He wanted to come to me but Alisa grabbed his hands firmly.
“You aren’t a doctor. Her doctor should come help her if she’s not even pulling up an act. It must not always be her. Besides I’m your new—“
“I have no time to waste.” The doctor uttered, walking off. Then he paused by the door of the ward, my blurry gaze followed him. “If you still want to lose this chance of having a family, you can delay. You as well know Alisa’s condition.”
It hurts the worst seeing another woman gaining the attention of my husband when I’m battling to bring his babies into the world, when I’m just a step to making him a father of children, not just a child.
It hurt even more when I watched Harvey walk past me with Alisa in his arms. “I’ll call the nurses to come pick you.” He uttered in such a rude, indifferent manner, walking past me with Alisa.
So he finally accepts I’m in labor but still clicks with Alisa.
I groaned in misery.
It’s then the pain exploded and the babies were struggling to come out. In that faint moment, I remembered what the doctor said. I needed him to sign the document for the Caesarian section or have sex with me to give birth smoothly.
I wanted to call him but it was too late. He had already entered the ward with Alisa and the door slammed against me. The sound told it all.
Death lurked before my eyes. I was certain I wouldn’t make it. The pain was unbearable as it coupled with that of a broken heart. In vain hope, I passed out.
Darkness and stillness took over.
The next sound I heard was the beeping of machines, chattering of both male and female voices, then the cries of babies in the distance.
It felt like hearing this from another world. Then my body shook. Someone was trying to call me but I couldn’t wake up. The pain had gone which was one main reason I thought I’d died.
“Mrs. Harvey, please wake up! Wake up!” The voice was that of a woman, a whisper. “The period of anesthesia is over. You should wake up.”
When I didn’t respond, she added “Please,” saying it from a place of pain. “You know your husband’s new wife has been claiming you will die and she’s going to get married to your husband. Please wake up and prove them wrong, your babies need you.”
“They are crying for you. I know you can hear me.” The voice continued but it was coming from a place of hurt.
“If you die, he will marry her. I’ve been your closest nurse friend and always prayed for the day you will become a mother. Don’t fail my heart.”
In a flash, I sprang up with a gasp. My spirit came back to my body. I was trying to process everything in the room when the door opened.
The doctor walked in. Behind him were Harvey and Alisa. Seeing them, my face tightened with a frown.
“You’re awake?” The doctor asked and I nodded. “We had to try our best to deliver you naturally since your husband wasn’t available to sign the operation form.”
“Na—da.” Harvey walked forward, feigning or meaning some shock but I struck out my hand.
“Heyyy, stop there.”
His legs failed him, Alisa stood at the back, flipping her eyelashes up and down, trying to feign remorse. “You know, Nada, we couldn’t believe it until now. Such a case hasn’t occurred before. I mean we haven’t heard of it.”
I smirked at her.
“Doctor?” He raised his face. “Please get them out of here and don’t ever let them set their foot on this ward till I’m out of here.”
“Seriously? Are you really doing this to me, your husband? You know how much I’m loyal to you which is why I never wanted to have sex directly with Alisa but donate my sperm to her to conceive, as a backup.”
“I don’t give a fuck about you.”
Thoughts were crawling up my head, of what to do to him. He’d used being a sperm donor to evade divorce, should I go to court, he would only be fined for not telling me, he may not even be fined as he might scrap out being her sperm donor out of charity and not surrogacy.
“If you plan to divorce me, just know you’re fucked up.” He stuck his middle finger up in an angry gesture.
“I’ll get all you own, it seems you’ve forgotten that you’re richer than I am. You have no choice but to stay with me.”
I smiled, nodding my head, amused by the trick they just pulled up, Alisa’s reactions. This is really where they were heading to from the beginning, they knew I would be pissed and opt in for a divorce as every woman would do.
But no!
I’ll show them something worse.
Harvey’s POVIt was the first time in years I felt the walls of my prison cracking. Not in the way a door swings open with freedom waiting on the other side, but like an old building giving way to time, ready to fall and bury anyone trapped inside. I could feel it in the silence, in the way the guards no longer looked steady, in the way whispers carried through the hall. Something was changing, and I was caught in the middle of it.I sat on the hard bench, my back pressed against the cold wall, and let my mind wander to the choice I never made. I had refused Nada’s punishment back then, thinking I was sparing myself. But sitting here, after all I had gone through, I wished I had chosen it. Maybe it would have been hard, maybe it would have broken me, but it would have been over. Instead, I had been used for years, drained of my strength, my time, and my will, and I had not seen a single coin for it.Every day has been the same. Donate until my bones become weak. Follow orders like a m
Harvey’s POVNo one wanted to hear the truth. No one cared that I had been taken against my will. From the moment they put the cuffs on me, I knew the world had already judged me guilty. Every time I opened my mouth to say I was abducted and forced to donate DNA, my words were brushed aside like they were nothing. It was as if I had no voice, no name, no history. I was just another shadow tied to Matteo, and in their eyes, that was enough to destroy me.The courtroom was cold. Not just from the air that came out of the vents, but from the looks of the people who filled the seats. Their eyes were sharp, hard, filled with disgust. I sat there in my chair, my wrists heavy with the metal of the cuffs, and all I could think was how quickly life can turn. Just years ago, I had started to accept my fate.I was willing to donate for eight years then start my life afresh,no matter how weak each donation made me feel I was still fighting for myself every single day. Now, I was branded as a crimi
Third povThe morning after Matteo’s arrest broke like a slow nightmare. News of the raid at the auction hall spread through the city like wildfire, but behind the headlines something darker moved. Interpol had been waiting for this moment for months. They had not only come for Matteo’s empire but also for the network hiding behind him.Matteo sat in a cold, grey room far away from the noise of the press. His hands were still cuffed, his wrists sore from the metal. Two agents sat across from him, their faces calm but their eyes hard. They had questions, and they had no patience for his games. The leader of the team leaned forward and placed a thin file on the table. Inside were photos of men, buildings, and bank accounts. Each page was a piece of his life. Each page was evidence.Matteo tried to keep his mask on. He told himself he would not give them anything. But Interpol was different from the city police he had once owned. They spoke slowly, firmly, in many languages. They showed
Third POV[THREE YEARS LATER] Three years passed in silence and shadow, but the world outside did not forget. Power never stayed still for long, and in the underworld, men waited for their chance. Matteo had lived with control, his name strong, his reach wide, but the balance of power was about to change. It happened not in the dark corners of the street, but in a place dressed in light and luxury. The jewelry auction was one of the grandest of the season. It was held in a hall with high glass chandeliers and floors polished until they shone. The air smelled of perfume, wine, and the faint trace of money that moved like a current through the room. Men in suits and women in dresses moved in silence, their eyes bright with greed. Each piece of jewelry that came out was met with whispers and sharp breaths. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls. All placed in shining cases under bright lights.Matteo had walked into the auction that night with his head high. He had grown used to being treat
Harvey’s POVThe days felt long, and the silence of the underground mansion pressed harder on me as the last year began. I had lived in this place for so long that the walls almost felt like skin around me. Yet no matter how much I tried to settle, the secrecy of this life was still a weight on my chest. Everything was hidden, every move was watched, and every part of me belonged to someone else. It was suffocating. I often sat on the bed, staring at the steel walls, wondering how many more breaths I could take before I broke. The thought of returning to her made my stomach turn. I could still picture her face, the way her eyes looked at me like I was less than a man. If I went back to her, I would have to kneel. I would have to bow my head and let her spit her anger on me. That shame was more painful than any needle they pushed into my veins here. At least in this prison, I still had my pride. If I went back to her, I would lose the last piece of myself. I told myself over and over t
Harvey’s POVThe first day in the underground mansion felt like walking into a cage with velvet walls. It looked rich, clean, and polished, but I knew it was still a prison. The guards walked me down a long hall, their heavy boots echoing. At the end of the hall, a steel door opened, and inside was a room set aside for me. Not too big, not too small. A bed, a table, a chair, and a drawer. No windows. No clock. Time would belong to them, not me.From the start, my life was not mine anymore. They told me when to eat, when to sleep, when to shower. I had no phone, no way to reach the world outside. They said it was to keep their secrets safe, but I knew the truth. It was to break me down, to remind me that every breath I took belonged to them. They had rules. Rules that were written into my body and into my blood. I was to donate regularly. At first, I thought it was only blood. But it was more than that. They wanted samples, they wanted tests, they wanted everything. They called it “don
