Harvey’s POV

The house was quiet the next day, but the quiet did not feel soft. It felt like a warning. Every sound I made, even small ones, felt too loud. My body still hurts from last night. My back burned where the belt had landed. My wrists felt sore. My chest felt heavy, like I was carrying something I did not know how to drop.

Nada did not speak to me that morning. She walked past me like I was not there. But even when she did not look at me, I felt her. Her presence filled the room. I followed her around without being told. It was what I did now.

She sat at the table and drank her coffee. I stood behind her, waiting. The smell made my stomach tighten. I was hungry, but I did not ask for food. I did not even think of asking. Asking always brought pain. I learned that already.

She finished the coffee and left the cup on the table.
