Alexa's eyes slowly opened, groggily taking in her surroundings. She was met with the unfamiliar sight of a luxurious hotel room, her mind foggy and disoriented. Panic set in as she scrambled to remember how she got there. The last thing she recalled was going to a club with her best friend Olivia to forget about her cheating boyfriend, David.

As she sat up, a sharp pain shot through her vagina, making her cry out in shock. She looked down to see herself stark naked, her clothes scattered around the room. Tears burst forth as she realized the unthinkable had happened - she'd lost her innocence to a stranger.

Alexa's mind raced with questions. Who was this mysterious person? Why did she feel so used and violated? She hastily dressed and fled the hotel room, her heart heavy with shame and anger.

As she ran, the words of her ex-boyfriend David echoed in her mind. "You're unattractive, and I don't feel anything for you." The pain of his betrayal and rejection was still fresh, and now this unknown violation had left her feeling worthless and broken.

Tears streamed down her face as she ran, unsure of where she was going or what lay ahead. All she knew was that she needed to escape the darkness that had consumed her life. In her desperation, she didn't notice the road ahead and blindly ran into its path. A trailer was fast approaching, its speed and size a deadly combination. Alexa's life flashed before her eyes as she froze, unable to move or escape the impending doom.

And then, everything went black.

**************************

She woke up the next morning, and saw her best friend Olivia, sitting by her bedside. Her eyes all watery from crying for long.

"You're awake!" Her eyes all lit up.

Alexa tried to get up, but felt a sharp pain on her forehead. Due to the impact of the fall, she bumped her head and sustained a bruise.

"Thank goodness you're okay. You only sustained a minor injury." Olivia beamed.

Alexa smiled and tried to remember all that happened yesterday. She couldn't believe her boyfriend had broken up with her. She tried to suppress the tears that welled up in her eyes. And who was the stranger that shamelessly took her innocence away from her?

She had taken a lot of alcohol, that Olivia couldn't stop her. She wanted to escape from the pain that her boyfriend had caused. In the course of the years that they had spent together, he had loved her so much.

So what changed? Why did he suddenly detest her? Was he lying to her all this years?

Alexa had a lot of questions going through her mind, that she needed answers for. But those questions would never have answers. She had stopped calling when she realized David had blocked her number.

" Where the fuck were you last night? I searched for you everywhere." A frown appeared on Olivia's face.

How was she going to tell Olivia all that transpired between her and the stranger last night? She was too tipsy to remember all the details, but she remembered the heavy breathing, and husky voice of a man above her. She could remember her legs being parted, and the stinging pain that followed after the penetration.

"I wandered off I guess." Alexa shrugged, massaging her temple .

Was Olivia going to judge her if she told her the truth? Olivia was her best friend and would never judge her for something like that. After Alexa's parents died, Olivia became like family.

"You wandered off half naked Alexa." The frown still visible on Olivia's face.

Olivia wasn't going to let her be, until she got to the root of the matter. It was just better she told her.

"I was very tipsy, I didn't know how come I ended up in a hotel room with a stranger. It was in my confusion that I ran into the road, and got hit"

Olivia's face looked like I had just dropped a hell of a news.

"I don't understand. You ended up in bed with a stranger? Did he touch you?" Olivia shot back.

Alexa nodded in affirmation. Her face looking guilty.

"Do you know this man? You can sue him you know? Did you give consent?" Olivia kept asking, not waiting for Alexa to answer.

"I I don't know" Alexa stammered, her head bowed in shame.

"Of course you

wouldn't know. You were too drunk to give consent, and the man took advantage of you!"

The anger in Olivia's voice was noticable. She had every right to be angry though.

"I thought you wanted to clear your head. After all David did to you, cheated and lied to you, you went ahead to sleep with a fucking stranger?" She continued.

Tears welled up in Alexa's eyes. She blamed David for all that happened to her. David was the reason why she had gone to the club in the first place.

Olivia bent over and gave Alexa a tight hug. Tears kept flowing freely, as she remembered all she had been through in less than 24 hours.

"Shhhhh now now don't cry Alexa it'll be fine." Olivia assured her, stroking her hair.

Alexa's heart was heavy with regret. Regrets of meeting David, and every other thing that followed after. David had been her high school crush. They looked out for each other, and kept their relationship mutual. He finally asked her out after college, and she gladly accepted. Their relationship was the envy of many as they were almost never seen without each other.

Suddenly David started becoming cold, distant, and was always busy ( at least that's what he says) .

His absence was driving Alexa crazy. She couldn't process all that was happening between them, until One day she caught him cheating on her with another lady. Her whole world came crashing down. There and then, he confessed that he didn't love Alexa and never will.

It was after this event that she had gone to the club, to grab a few drinks.

"Good morning ladies" The doctor smiled as he flung the door open, startling the girls.

"How are you feeling now miss?" He continued.

"I'm feeling a lot better now, thank you." Alexa replied.

"That's good to hear. Thankfully, you sustained a minor bruise on your forehead, and nothing more. I'll prescribe some pain killers and antibiotics, and you'll be just fine by tomorrow." The doctor said.

"Are you sure she's fine?" Olivia asked, concerned.

"Ofcourse she's okay. Now she is going to be discharged. You can get the drugs at the clinic down the hallway." He handed them a piece of paper before walking away.

As they walked down the hallway, they noticed four men on black suits and dark sunglasses; bodyguards.

The men looked stern and intimidating.

From the glass window, a pair of blue eyes stared back at Alexa. Those were the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. Why did it feel like she had seen those eyes somewhere. They looked like the color of a calm sea, after a great turbulence.

She could barely see the rest of his face, he seemed familiar.

"Girl what the hell?" Olivia gasped after noticing the back and forth going on between Alexa and the stranger. She wrapped her arms around Alexa, and pulled her down the hallway.

"What?" Alexa bust out laughing.

"Girl you're something else. What the hell was going on back there?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." Alexa cackled.

"You don't know who that is? You flatter me honestly. That's the body guard of the most ruthless mafia boss in the city." Olivia whispered.

"Girl you tripping." Alexa scoffed, not believing a word that Olivia said.

"You think I'm lying? What's up with the body guards then?" Olivia asked, trying to convince her.

"I believe you Olivia, but alot of important people visit the hospital too. So why should I be surprised?" Alexa smiled.

The silence on the way home was intoxicating. The last 48 hours had been dramatic, but they had to be there for each other.

Olivia was also an orphan, but she was living with her grandma. They were like sisters, and people hardly knew that they were not related. Alexa's pains were also her pains, and she shared them with Alexa gladly.

Olivia gazed at Alexa's face. Her eyes were closed. She must have dozed off. She held her hand, and squeezed it softly. She felt sorry for Alexa. All this had happened in the space of 48 hours. From her cheating boyfriend, to being raped. And who was the mother fucker anyway? He had violated her friend, and if he was ever caught, she'd make sure he paid dearly.

The taxi pulled up at the front of Alexa's apartment, and the two friends alighted, with Olivia supporting Alexa with one hand. As they climbed the fleet of stairs, Alexa rested her head on Olivia's shoulder.

As they got into the apartment, Olivia prepared a bath for Alexa, and made her some warm oats.

Antonio was waiting in the garden when Olivia and Alexa returned. He stood with his arms folded, suit jacket still on from work, tie loosened but posture rigid. His expression alone made Olivia’s stomach drop.He knew. Not everything ,but enough. As soon as Alexa slipped upstairs to rest, Olivia braced herself. Antonio didn’t speak until he heard Alexa’s steps fade. Then…“You went into the city,” he said, voice low. “Without guards. Without telling me. And without Gabrielle’s clearance.”Olivia exhaled. “Tone down the General Casanova routine. We had errands.”He didn’t buy it for a second. His jaw flexed.“Olivia, you think I’m stupid?”She winced. “No. Just… overprotective.”“Overprotective?” Antonio stepped closer, eyes dark with restrained anger. “Olivia,I thought we trusted each other enough to talk about things before they escalate into something dangerous.”She opened her mouth, but he raised a hand, holding back his frustration.“Tell me the truth. What happened out there?”O

Alexa barely slept.Even after the messages stopped, even after Olivia insisted on staying in her room until dawn crept slowly and uncertain across the windows, Alexa’s mind wouldn’t quiet. The warning replayed in her head like a broken chant:You’re being followed.Don’t trust the new guards. One of them works for Voss.It felt unreal and yet frighteningly, painfully real at the same time. Every shadow in the hallway seemed to stretch longer. Every familiar sound now felt like a threat in disguise.By morning, Alexa had made her decision. She needed answers . real answers, not guesses and fears. She needed to know who the man in the gray coat was… and why he was following her.Olivia wasn’t thrilled about her plan, but she didn’t stop her. She never did. Olivia was the kind of friend who would follow her into fire without asking a single question and that was exactly what Alexa needed now.***********They left the mansion mid-morning, pretending they were going out for brunch. Alexa read the message again, even though she’d already deleted it. The words clung to the inside of her mind like a stain:He’s not safe. Don’t tell him I warned you.The kitchen felt suddenly smaller, shadows stretching long across the counter. Outside, thunder rolled again, but this time she wasn’t sure if the sound came from the sky or her heartbeat. She checked the windows. Nothing but the restless sway of the rain-heavy trees. She checked the hallway. Empty. Too empty.A memory flickered of the guard last night, the flash drive, the whispers behind Gabrielle’s closed office door. Someone was close enough to enter their home. Someone was close enough to send her this. But who?Ava returned from her break, humming softly as she wiped her hands on her apron. Alexa snapped upright, forcing her breathing into something normal.“You okay, dear?” Ava asked, brows lifting.“Yes,” Alexa lied. “Just tired.”Ava didn’t push. She rarely did. The city market was alive with color that morning , the kind of chaotic beauty Alexa hadn’t seen in weeks. Instead of going to the mall, they chose the market so that she could take mind off things. The scent of fresh bread, roasted coffee, and cut flowers mixed with the chatter of vendors and the clatter of carts. For once, there were no guards shadowing her openly. Gabrielle had insisted on a discreet escort, but they kept their distance, blending with the crowd. It felt almost normal. The rain had returned. It rattled against the tall windows of the Casanova mansion like impatient fingers, quick and insistent. Alexa stirred in the dark, sensing movement long before she heard it. The digital clock on the nightstand glowed 2:14 a.m. Beside her, the other half of the bed was cold. Gabrielle had gone to his study hours ago. Then footsteps. Soft. Measured. Not his.She slipped from the sheets, pulling on a robe. The hall lights had been dimmed, but the glow from the security lamps painted the walls in long silver streaks. Down the corridor, the faint beam of a flashlight cut across the carpet, then vanished. Her heart kicked. One of the new guards. She followed, bare feet silent against the floor. The man moved quickly, glancing over his shoulder as if expecting someone. When he reached the study door, he knelt, produced a small key card, and slid it through the reader. The lock clicked open.Alexa pressed herself against the wall, waiting for him to go inside. When he

Sigh. The mansion no longer felt like home. Two days had passed since Gabrielle’s appointment, and already the air inside the halls had changed. Guards she didn’t recognize patrolled the corridors, silent and expressionless behind mirrored glasses. Doors that once stood open were now locked. Even Ava moved more carefully, her cheerful chatter clipped short whenever one of the new men walked by.Alexa stood at the window of their bedroom, watching the black shadows of the guards idle beyond the gate. The rain had stopped, but the sky still hung heavy with clouds. It felt as though the weather hadn’t yet decided whether the storm was over. She could hear Gabrielle’s voice from the study below low, measured, all command. He spoke that way now even when he wasn’t angry. The softness she loved in him had been buried under the weight of the title. Each call ended with a variation of the same phrase: “Handle it quietly.”When he came upstairs at last, he looked as though he hadn’t sl
