ATHALIAH

The cold was sharp and merciless, snow whipped against my face, stinging my cheeks badly. I pulled my shirt even tighter, wrapping my hands around myself, my body shivering as we all stood waiting for Damian's next orders.

“I'll stay behind them,” he solemnly declared.

“Get Everly and the twins in the car immediately!” He barked out.

“Everyone else. Go back in and wait for help to arrive!” He ordered, sending the servants scrambling back into the resort.

The guard immediately hurried o

RHETTThings genuinely got better between Athaliah and I after that night. She no longer looked at me like she hated my guts or like I was someone out to ruin her life. She became livelier and smiled more. That made me realize I'd been the one holding back her smile all these while she's been here and that genuinely made me beat up myself a bit.She started going out often and exploring the pack. Sometimes, all on her own. Other times she went with Octavia. Their relationship has gotten even better. I feared they'd be joined to the hip soon. All I prayed to the moon goddess for, is to not make her anything like Octavia. Otherwise I'd lose my mind.It was hard not letting my men trail after her from a distance every time she stepped out. She was pregnant, and still looked a bit sickly. Her safety was my priority. But each time I try to give out the order for her to be trailed after, I keep recalling I'd promised not to let her get followed. It took every bit of self restraint in me to

DAMIANAthaliah being accused of treason even after she already lost her life was something I couldn’t tolerate. She’d given up so much for my pack and yet I failed to notice. The more I thought about how she’d complained over and over again these past few weeks before her passing, I realized I’d been so unfair to her.Over the next few days, I kept packing up her things and keeping up on my private investigator’s reports. That afternoon, I was packing up her medicine shelf, when an empty container fell down. I picked it up, staring blankly at it. Then my eyes caught something. The description on the label. It was meant to be taken by a pregnant wolf. I stared at it in a daze for a few seconds. Dropped it and moved on to other things. Suddenly realisation dawned on me. “Why would Athaliah have pregnancy medication?”It made no sense. So, I turned back, grabbing it and reading the description again. Was Athaliah pregnant?Confusion filled my mind. I knew one person who’d have an answe

RHETTI've led this pack from a very young age. Most Alphas three times my age doubted I could do it. But I made the decisions, proved them wrong and ascended to becoming the Alpha King. In all my years of being an Alpha, not one soul has looked me in the eye and said no to me. Or even argue with me.But one tiny woman I'd pulled out of a storm did.Stubborn, that was the only word to describe her.I'd softened myself for her, to make her feel welcomed and even went out of my way to decide on things that'd actually help her. Yet this one stubborn wolf didn't seem to appreciate any of that.Walking out of her room, I stood on the terrace, overlooking the pack. Lighted up a cigarette and puffed the smoke out into the air.I mindlinked one of the maids and soon she stood before me.“Go to Athaliah. Tell her she can go out alone since she wants that so badly,” I instructed.I saw her eyes widen in surprise before she scrambled off. I'd never bent for anyone and yet here I am doing that all for one

DAMIAN When time to pack Athaliah’s things and lock them away came. I couldn't let the maids do it. I didn't let anyone touch her things. If her things were going to be boxed and locked away like she never existed, I preferred to do it myself. That was the least I could do for her.I went into our bedroom, opened the closet to begin folding up her clothes. That was when I realized her clothes weren't there anymore. Every trace of her in the room had been taken over by Everly. I found her things in the guest room where she had been staying, immense guilt and regret gnarled violently at my chest. I began taking her clothes out from the closet and setting them on the bed. I lingered so much on her clothing, memories of her filling my mind. I'd break down, cry and continue yet again. When I finished folding up her clothes, perfumes, and bags and putting them away. I began packing her documents. Going through those documents, I realised she hadn't been just the Luna in name. She had throw

ATHALIAH I stared down incredulously at the note on my hand. Reading it over and over again like the writings in it would suddenly change. Rhett had invited me to join him for the council meeting tomorrow, under his supervision.I scoffed, he'd framed his letter like he was doing me a favour by finally giving me what I wanted. But going out under supervision isn’t freedom. As far as I'm concerned, it is control, the worst kind of it.The maid had already turned to leave. But I called out to her, making her halt and turn back to me.“Relay my message to the Alpha,” I said. She let out a small smile and walked back to me.“Tell him I am not going.”Her eyes widened.“My lady?” She panicked. But I kept my head straight and spoke again.“You heard me. Tell him I won't be accompanying him anywhere.”The maid looked down at her fingers nervously, terror flashing her features.“I…I…I don't think I can tell him that,” she mumbled, her voice dropping so low.“Then go about your day. I'll tel

DAMIANI led a search myself. I couldn't let anyone else do it. I'd told Athaliah I'd come back for her. But I couldn't. Everly was in so much pain. I just couldn't let go of my sense of duty to her. So I sent my men to get Athaliah and the others. But then they came back with just the maids. Athaliah and the guards I left with her, didn't arrive with them. I thought she was playing yet another silly attention pulling trick just because she was jealous of how I take responsibility for Everly. But then, my men pulled the nearly unrecognisable bodies of the guards left with her that night. I realised this wasn't some trick.“Alpha, we found this.” They handed me a piece of the shirt she'd been wearing that night, covered in blood. I scented the blood and indeed it was hers. My finger curled into fists, I staggered back, pressing the clothing to my nose, scenting it again and again like that would change the outcome but none of that happened. It didn't take long for the council to declar
