Damon

I understand why Misha ran after Ana. I hope she is ready for the fallout. I'll just stay at the table and use my ability to know what's going on once they find Justin being himself. Yeah, I like women, don't get me wrong, but if I want an easy fuck I will go find a succubus. I don't use humans or those who think that they are human. Once I am King, I will put an end to this. There are plenty of supernaturals who are always ready, willing, and able.

Misha

What the hell am I doing chasing after Ana? Yeah, Justin is hot and quite charming, but there's always this nagging voice in the back of my head when it comes to him. ‘If it seems too good to be true, it probably is,’ I continually have told myself that after what happened with Jack, my ex. That thought is on a loop when I am around Justin so there has to be a reason for it. Indeed, Ana has never liked him. She'd always comment how plastic he seemed and that I could do better. Then, tonight, Ana shows up with Damon. She's all giggles and smiles, like a giddy teenager. I've never seen her like this since I've known her. I'm pretty sure she's trying to find me a date she likes. Damon...yeah. Damn, he's fine. He seems intelligent and perceptive too. Also, when we shook hands, there was this current that floored me. What in bloody hell was that?

I’d caught up to Ana just as the lock clicked. She shoves it open. “Oh, fuck no!” I yell as I see the waitress bent over the sink staring at her reflection as Justin fucks her from behind. I did want to have a date this Christmas, but fuck it. Nothing is worth going through this humiliation.

“We are so through, you cheating prick. Lose my number!” I screamed as I stormed out. I'm so frustrated and angry that I could cry.

From behind me, I hear Ana say, “You come near Misha and I'll end you!” I went to the bar and had the bartender line up three tequila shots. I'm on the second one when Ana comes over. “I'll join you. No one should drink alone.”

We down our three each and get another round to take back to our table. Damon looks at our glasses and then at our faces. “Judging by the amount of shots it didn't go well,” he says sympatheticly.

I throw back my shot. “I'm swearing off men.”

Ana glares at me, “Oh, no you aren't!” She looks over to Damon and then back to me. “You say that now but things will change.”

Damon winks at her. “We aren't all bad, you know, just like not all women are batshit crazy.”

Ana laughs and I can't help but smile. “So fucking true,” she replies as she downs her shot.

I shrug, “I guess.”

Ana pat me on the shoulder, “Babe, you hit bottom with Jack, and well, Justin wasn't much of an improvement. At least you didn't fuck Justin because you do realize he didn't even know her or use protection. He is such a skeeze!”

I laugh, “No glove. No love.” At that moment, Justin walks by and only glares at Damon. What the hell was that about? “What's his problem?”

Damon shrugs with a smirk, “Just a prick that got caught looking to blame everyone but himself.

Next, he'll be at your door claiming that the waitress seduced him and begging you to forgive him.”

“Oh girl, you had better not! You know damn well he went willingly because he disappeared first,” Ana said.

I laughed because I knew that she was right. It was absurd for me to think that Justin would have respected me and waited until I was ready to have sex with him. My head begins to swim as the effects of the tequila begin to take hold, “I can't drive now.”

“We can leave the car and get a cab,” Ana suggests.

Damon looks between Ana and me, “I know we just met and all, but I could drive you and just take a cab home. I don't mind and I'm only here until Christmas so you don't have to worry about me camping out at your doorstep.”

“Are you an elf or something and have to return to the North Pole?” Ana jokes.

Damon chuckles, “Not even close.” I do like his laugh. He's just easy to be around. I can see that now. Even Ana is at ease, and she hates everybody. Plus, he is attractive in a tattooed James Dean type of way.

Damon

Well, that worked out. I knew Justin would sabotage the relationship as that's just what he does. Granted, she wasn't his mate, but I wonder if he could even be faithful to his Queen. I'm pretty sure my Queen is sitting across from me, and she's going to be extremely hungover tomorrow too. Her cheeks are flushed from the alcohol, and I can't help but wish that I was the reason for it instead. Before I can urge them to leave, the girls have another round. Oh boy, this night will be interesting!

  • Christmas In Hell   Eye Opening

She opened her eyes. They were unfocused, glazed with exhaustion, but a faint, triumphant smile touched her lips. "I filled it," she breathed, her voice a mere puff of air. "With creation. With life." She reached up, her fingers ghosting over my cheek. "It's… placated. For now.""You shouldn't have," I choked out, a raw ache in my chest. The relief of being whole again, even temporarily, was eclipsed by the terror of what she had risked."I told you," she countered, her voice gaining a sliver of its usual strength. "We are bound, Damon. Your fight is my fight. Your life… is my life." She leaned into me, her head resting on my shoulder. I felt the profound exhaustion radiating from her, the sheer drain of power. The hum from the triplets was almost imperceptible now.Ava knelt, her hands gently touching Misha's belly. She closed her eyes, a deep furrow appearing between her brows. When she opened them, she looked relieved, but still concerned. "They're okay. Weakened, but stable. You d

  • Christmas In Hell   Into Darkness

Ava knelt beside us, her face grim. Her eyes, usually so sharp, held a haunted look. "The wards are weakening. I can feel the Chronovores… they're aware of us again." She glanced at Misha, then back at me. "He's burning out, Misha. Or freezing out. Whatever this void does, it's speeding up."Misha ignored her, her gaze fixed on mine, fierce and unyielding. "No. You don't get to give up. Not now." Her fingers traced the edge of the void-wound on my shoulder, a feather-light touch that still sent shivers through me. "There has to be a way. Another way to stabilize you. We still have time.""Time is what it eats," I pointed out, a morbid humorless laugh escaping me. It sounded like static. "And it's having a feast." The world tilted. A wave of nausea, cold and profound, swept over me. The desire to simply lie down, to let the sweet, blessed nothingness take me, was almost overwhelming.Misha's jaw tightened. She looked from my fading form to her own trembling hands, then to the faint shi

  • Christmas In Hell   Chronovore

A laugh, weak and raspy, died in my throat before it could form. Ava’s attempt at levity was a welcome anchor, but the void in my shoulder didn’t find it amusing. It flared with a sudden, agonizing cold that had nothing to do with the dimension’s ambient chill. It was a cold recognition. Of hunger.“Something’s coming,” I gritted out, my eyes scanning the oppressive darkness. Misha’s head snapped up, her own senses kicking in.It wasn’t a sound or a sight, not at first. It was a distortion. A patch of the void ahead of us seemed to… curdle. Space bent and warped around a point of absolute nothingness that was somehow darker than the darkness around it. Time itself seemed to stutter, my perception flickering like a dying candle. Then it unfolded. It was less a creature and more a living blind spot, a vaguely insectoid silhouette carved from the absence of light and time. It had too many limbs, each one ending in a point that seemed to fray reality.“Chronovore,” Misha whispered, the na

  • Christmas In Hell   The Wards

Ava's POVI realized with a sickening lurch that the cloaking spells, the spiritual camouflage we'd woven, were tearing. The Maw's oppressive influence, its soul-devouring energy, was shredding them like old paper. Our presence, normally veiled, now felt stark, exposed."It's too strong," I gasped, clutching my head. The pressure was immense, a physical weight on my skull. The knowledge that we were visible, naked to whatever horrors lurked in this cosmic graveyard, added another layer of icy dread. The journey seemed to last an eternity, every microsecond a brutal assault on my senses. I could feel the Maw's ancient, abyssal gaze on us, a slow, predatory awareness shifting, focusing. We were raw nerves exposed to a cosmic storm. Then, with another gut-wrenching lurch, we were deposited onto a new surface. This time, the ground beneath my feet felt softer, yielding. I stumbled, catching myself on a massive, curved surface. My vision was still swimming, but the black and white static b

  • Christmas In Hell   God-eater

Ava's POVDamon coughed, a dry, rattling sound. "Just enjoying the… scenic route." His eyes, usually sharp with sardonic wit, were unfocused, distant. "Reminds me of… well, of nothing. This is worse than nothing.""The energy," Misha breathed, her hand going instinctively to her stomach. The faint shimmer of her protective ward seemed to flicker, struggling against the pervasive negativity. "It's draining everything. My power… it feels… muffled. Like screaming into a pillow."I felt it too. My own demonic energy, usually a vibrant, rebellious hum, now felt subdued, heavy. The Maw was a vast, cosmic siphon, draining every spark of life, every hint of resistance. It was a place where existence itself was an act of defiance."This is the God-Eater's Maw," I stated, articulating the dread. "Justin said it right. It's where things go to die. Permanently." I swept my arm out, indicating the desolate panorama. "Stars, nebulae, deities. All of it.""And it lives up to the name," Damon whisper

  • Christmas In Hell   Maw, a First Look

Ava’s POV"Lead the way, Anchor," Damon ground out, his voice hoarse, but his eyes, fixed on Misha, held an unyielding defiance.I rolled my eyes, a familiar muscle memory. "Someone has to. You two are too busy making out in a cosmic graveyard." I turned, my boots scraping on the obsidian platform. The gate, a swirling maelstrom of iridescent gases, shimmered with an unsettling invitation. Beyond it, I could already feel the cold, an absence more profound than any vacuum. "Hold on tight. Justin's jump-points are less 'elegant transit' and more 'cosmic blender.'"I stepped toward the shimmering veil, not bothering to look back. Damon and Misha would follow. They always did. They were the lovebirds, the world-enders, the ones who needed me to keep their feet on the ground—or at least, pointed in the right direction. As I reached the edge, the fabric of reality stretched, groaning like ancient metal. A familiar tug, a sensation of being drawn through a keyhole too small for my frame. The
