Brad came down from his horse and helped the young female wolf. She had stopped bleeding but was still too weak. He brought her down and carried her into the palace.

Cage had already left with Desi. He took her inside as the guards ran to the healer's home to call on him. They prepared a room for the mother and daughter while they waited.

The healer rushes into the room, thinking something had gone wrong with one of the twins. He was surprised when he saw them hovering around two girls.

"Your Majesties!" He yelled as he entered, calling their attention to his presence. They glanced at the door and saw him.

"Come on, she's dying!" Brad waves him over. The healer sighs in relief when he sees both of them strong without any injuries. He walked towards the bed and saw the ghastly injury on the young woman.

He quickly dropped his things on the ground, opened his medical kit and started working on cleaning the injury so it doesn't get infected. The healing process was too slow, he noticed.

He covers the injury with a soft cloth to fasten the healing process. He raised his head to the two pairs of eyes looking at him expectantly.

"She isn't Lycan, Your Majesty?" They glanced at each other.

"No, she is a werewolf we rescued from the hands of some hunters," Brad explained.

"Check on the child, John," Cage ordered, not interested in explaining anything. John moves over to the child and places two fingers on Desi's neck, checking her vitals.

"She'll be alright, just a little weak. I'll get a syrup for her to drink before the night is over," he tells them as he stands up.

"What about the mother? Will she be alright?"

"Yes, Your Majesty. I'll come to check on her again in the morning," he picked up his kit and turned to leave. He was shocked they had saved a werewolf willingly. Everyone knew Cage hated them. They all did. He walked out still surprised.

"You should have slowed down a bit. I'm sure the little girl must have gotten hungry again and too weak to tell you," Brad cautioned his brother. Cage folded his arms together on his chest.

"It didn't matter. I'm sure she will thank me for not stopping," he said, making Brad roll his eyes. "Every second we wasted would have killed her mother."

"She would not have died, Cage. It was only a matter of time before we got here. Look at her," he pointed at Desi. "Her tiny arms are bright red from holding tightly onto the reins of your horse. She must have been scared too."

Cage stared at the little girl's hands as a pang of guilt hit him. "Well, it doesn't matter anymore. We arrived on time," he murmured.

Brad frowned at his brother's lack of feelings. He knew Cage wasn't fond of werewolves and wasn't happy they had brought one home. He didn't know why but he had the urge to protect both mother and daughter.

"I haven't seen Ted and Alexis. They should be here by now," Cage said. As if they had been summoned by Cage's words, they knocked on the door of the room, opened it, and walked inside.

"Your Majesty," they bowed to the twins.

"I expected you both to be in the palace when we got here," Cage said to them, acknowledging their presence. They raised their heads but didn't look directly at their Kings.

"I had to take care of my daughter, Your Majesty and Ted volunteered to join me. We were not expecting you tonight," Alexis answered. Cage parted his lips to speak but Brad cuts in before he could say another word.

"And how is your daughter?" Brad asked.

"She is alright, thank you, Your Majesty."

Cage frowned at his brother, shaking his head. He had a sharp tongue and was ready to use it when necessary. Brad shook his head. Ted and Alexis were their friends before they became their subordinates. It wasn't nice to treat them harshly.

Ted glanced at the bed and saw the mother and child. His eyes widened in surprise and Cage caught his expression.

"Yes, she is a werewolf," he answered before Ted could ask them the question that was at the tip of his lips.

"Werewolf? How did she get here? And why?" He asked as he walked closer to the other side of the bed. With Alexis following behind him.

"We brought her here. Brad here saved their lives," Cage answered and sat down on the chair beside the bed. He was not pleased with the outcome though. Saving their lives was more than enough mercy.

"Oh, and you don't know where they come from?" Alexis asked as she held Desi's hands. Her palm was bright red and very tender. A little piece of paper could make a big cut on it due to how soft it was.

"No, they were deep in the woods. I'm pretty sure they did not know where they were, else they would not have been there," Brad said. He was glad to have saved them. They both were, his beast and him.

"So what happens now?" Ted inquired knowing that the presence of werewolves was not fully accepted in their kingdom.

"We'll wait for the mother to wake up and then know about her origin. We'll send them back to their pack once she heals completely," Brad explained.

Cage glanced at the woman lying on the bed, curiously. He couldn't get the sight of the marks he had seen on her body out of his head. But he was sure she would not like to go back to where she came from.

"It seemed to me like they were running away," he told them. "They had their belongings with them on the horse. I don't think she would want to go back to her pack."

"But they can't stay here. Werewolves are not accepted here," Alexis frowned.

I know that, Alexis."

"It doesn't matter. They'll have to leave once she heals," Brad insisted. Cage glanced at his brother wondering what was running through his head.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"We have some information about the whereabouts of the gems. Let's leave the room to give them some space to rest," Brad suggested and turned to walk away from the room. Ted and Alexis joined him and left the room.

Cage stood up from the chair, turning to leave but a hand stopped him. He glanced at the hand holding his trousers.

"Thank you," she whispered before letting go of him. He glanced at her but she was still asleep. She must have been dreaming.

"Cage?" Brad called out from the door. Cage turned around and walked out, not thinking about the female wolf's words.

"Let's go," he murmured.

It wasn't what they wanted. Cage glanced at his brother. They needed Ted to get evidence for them else they'd have no choice but to put her in the dungeon for conspiracy. Kyla already knew about it and so did her mate. It was only a matter of time before the Noblemen heard about it. They needed someone they could trust. Ted was the only one capable of doing it. He wouldn't want his step sister to get hurt. He was a loyal Lycan. "I will try my best," he said and stood up to leave."Also, I'd like to know if she has been in communication with anyone outside the kingdom," Cage added. "Do not let Kyla know about this. She already suspects Lara and wouldn't believe otherwise," Brad told him. He nodded and left. "Is this necessary?" Brad grumbled. "Yes, we have to get ready to attack before he sends his men over," Cage explained. "Lara is the only one who knows the way to her pack. She could lead us to either a trap or to victory." Brad sighed. He didn't like this. *****************

Everything was going wrong and there was nothing Ted could do to assist. Cassandra was punished by flogging. The Kings took pity on her and had her flogged. Lara was locked in her room and no one apart from Desi was allowed inside. No one was telling him anything. He hated being in the dark but couldn't confront the Kings to ask about her. He went to Kyla. At least, she must have an idea of what was going on in the palace. For all he knew, the Kings loved and cherished Lara. Locking her up seems suspicious. As he got to her house, Alyson opened the door. "Sorry for coming unannounced, I would like to speak with Kyla." Alyson was surprised to see the General at her door. She nodded. "Please come in," she waved, taking a step back for him to go in. Ted entered the house. Alyson offered him a seat before going to their room to inform Kyla of her guest. A few moments later, Kyla came out. "This is new," she said as she sat in the opposite direction from Ted. He sighed. Never have be

Cassandra glared at Lara but frowned. Was she speaking about the gemstone she had shown her? Her hands immediately went to her neck as she held onto it. Ted glanced at Cassandra. "Cassandra showed you the gemstone?" Lara nodded, looking at him hopefully. "And it once belonged to your mother?" "Yes, her name was Evelyn," Lars whispered. Ted frowned, unable to understand how she came to that conclusion. His mum was a werewolf, he knew but he didn't know she had a child. A girl. Her words were confusing. A gemstone can't be the only evidence to support her claim. "Do you have any other evidence?" He asked her. Lara frowned and shook her head. She was scared but determined to convince him. The Kings might make a decision that would hurt her but she is willing to prove her innocence. If Ted could be beside her, she would be confident. Her hands shook. "It's true, Ted," Cage's voice rang out from behind Cassandra. They turned to the voice. Cassandra's eyes widened and her eyes were

What is going on, Brad? Your expression is scaring me," she told them. He hugged her out of nowhere.Kyla came into the throne room and couldn't believe what she was seeing. What were they hugging Lara? She is one of them! Cage turned to Kyla and smiled at her. She nodded her head although she was still confused. Did she just make them get closer to their mate or what? "Brad now is not the time," Cage told him. Brad pulled away from her. "How did you find out?" Brad asked him. Cage pointed at Kyla. "She did it. She found the man responsible for our tears and also the whereabouts of her cousin," Cage said proudly. Lara turned to her, shocked. "You found where my father and Max are?" She asked again. Kyla nodded. That was not the cause for celebration though. They needed to strategize on how to attack the Alpha before he attacked them again! "Who is he? Tell me, who the bastard is!" Brad asked Cage but Cage shook his head. "Kyla, tell them what you told me." Kyla came Forward.

George cracked open his eyes and glanced around. Where was he? He looked at the familiar room and immediately recalled he had gotten home before giving up. He tried to move but ended up groaning with pains. What the hell did they put in his back? It hurts. He closed his eyes and tried to stifle the scream that was about to come out. After a while, the pain was gone and he opened his eyes again. He opened his eyes to his Father, staring at him. He quickly looked somewhere else. Alpha Robert watched his son in pain but didn't feel an ounce of compassion for him. He needed George to be strong. He was too weak. How could he come back looking like an animal? "How was the trip that made you leave your position as an Alpha? How was the experience? Was it enjoyable?" He asked his son. George couldn't look at his father in the face. He regretted ever accepting Lara as his mate. He should have rejected her the day he found out she was his mate.He wished he could go back in time. All these

It was late in the night when Brad and Cage finally got home. Lara had slept off while waiting for them. She was tired. As they entered their joint room, they saw her sleeping while hugging some pieces of jewelry close to her heart. "What's that?" Cage asked Brad. He glanced at them."I think she was looking at them and fell asleep with it in her arms," Brad said as pulled his shirt from his body. They were very tired and after stressing out for a whole day, what they wanted was to curl up with their mate but it seemed she was tired too. They took their bath and climbed on the bed. Brad tried to take away the jewelry and ended up waking her from her sleep. "Hello, mate," he murmured and kissed her cheeks. Lara opened her eyes and tried to sit up. "I'm about to sleep, you don't have to sit up." "I'm already awake," she grumbled. "Where's Cage?" She glanced around. "He is still in the bathroom," Brad couldn't help but yawn. He was very tired. Lara thought about not asking but afte
