CHAPTER 6

When she saw him walking towards the vehicle; she followed him. He opened the door for her before walking around the front of the car and then getting into the driver's side. She sat back in the cool leather seats before sliding on her seatbelt. He seemed like he was actually being kind. Seconds later, he drove off down the road.

Out of the corner of her eye, she allowed herself to gaze upon his features. He looked like the type of guy to get whatever he wanted. If there was an unattainable female due to the amount of attractiveness that radiated off of her, he'd end up with her. A Greek god would be an understatement to the way he looked.

She wondered who his mother was. Obviously, the looks of his father were clear, but there was something about his face that looked very different from his dad. She couldn't pinpoint exactly what, but maybe it was the slight amount of freckles that littered his skin. Maybe it was coldness in his eyes that his father seemed to hide. It was something.

Turning her attention to the window, she noticed that she could still feel her heart thumping wildly in her chest. Her breathing was still rapid, but it was only because of her nerves. She was scared because she was so confused. Trying to pinpoint exactly how she got into this position was scary. The man beside her was scary.

It didn't take long for the silent car ride to come to an end. The moment she did, she opened the door and felt like she could finally breathe again.

"Fidanzato?" he asked lowly. She didn't know exactly what he said, but she didn't speak about it. Isabella believed that he said that more for his sake; rather than hers.

[ translation: boyfriend ]

She closed the door behind her and walked up to the modern two-story house. Andre lived in the home all by himself due to the fact he was a college student and his parents left him the house before they passed away. It was one of the reasons why it felt so good to confide in him after the loss of her father. He understood in a way no one else could.

Isabella knocked on the wooden door. Her eyes then looked behind her to see if Alex was still there and he was. She didn't know if she could trust his act of kindness. It seemed out of his character to actually let her stay with her boyfriend rather than with him.

When no one answered, she knocked again. This time, the door opened up. A girl came to the door wearing a long t-shirt. It resembled a t-shirt she had once bought Andre. Her short blonde hair was messily laid out on her head as she looked at Isabella with a smile.

"What can I do for you?" She asked. A slight country accent could be heard as she let the words drip from her tongue. Isabella trusted her boyfriend enough to not immediately jump to conclusions. So, she settled with a smile before glancing back at Alex's car.

"Where's Andre?" She asked the girl.

"Andre!" the girl shouted out.

Moments later, Andre came towards the door wearing sweatpants. He was completely shirtless allowing his dark brown abs to glisten with sweat.

The minute he saw Isabella, his entire smile dropped. He looked at the girl before returning his gaze back to his girlfriend.

"Isabella, what are you doing here?" He asked. She noticed how he called her Isabella instead of baby, or babe. He never called her by her first name before.

"I need someplace to stay. Something's happened and I-" her voice began to crack.

"I'm going to go shower. Come join me when you're done, okay babe?" she asked Andre before pecking his lips. Isabella wanted to break down and cry. She watched as the girl walked away and felt every step she took as a pull on her heart.

"Oh, never mind," was all she could say. She turned on her heel and walked back towards Alex's car. She wanted to scream and cry. The embarrassment she was facing, plus the amount of heartbreak she had to withhold in just 24 hours was becoming too much.

She pulled open the passenger side door, and she climbed into his car. He looked over at her, and luckily he didn't say a word. He just drove off down the road as she curled up to face the window.

Her eyes were begging to just let her cry. They were begging to relieve them of their pain. Her throat was crawling for a sob. Her body wanted some type of reaction. All she could do was close her eyes and hope for something better.

Hope for something better.
