~~~ Arriving at Cruz's house, the taxi pulled to a stop in front of an estate gate. Cruz got married to Maddison Brooklyn, a rich man's daughter, and she was too pompous and proud. She got along with my older sister, Elora. Sighing, I walked up to the gate to meet the estate security man. "Yes, who are you here to see?" The tough-looking security man in black asked me. "Um, I am here to see my older brother, Cruz Brooks. He lives in the estate," I said, as I was already exhausted. On a Saturday morning like this, I knew that I should have been at home resting. But here I was, standing in front of an estate gate. "Call him," the security man said before he ordered me to stand aside, and I knew that I wouldn't be allowed entry into the estate gate. Pulling out my phone, I called my older brother, Cruz. However, I was stunned when I saw a black Rolls Royce driving into the estate gate, as the White Estate was known to habitate many wealthy billionaires in this Dominic City. Gulping, I was stunned when my gaze locked with Ethan Owen. The same man who had a one-night stand with me a few hours ago. What was he doing here? Did he live inside this White Estate too? I gulped and immediately looked away from him as I pretended like I didn't know him. But his gaze bored into me, as I could feel the intensity of his gaze on me. Another security man pulled the magnificent gate open, and Ethan's car drove in, and not just his car alone. I noticed the bodyguards in another convoy following behind him, and I gulped and released the breath that I didn't know that I was holding. "Hello, Cruz, I am at the estate gate now," I said to my older brother on the call, and he said, "I will be there now." The call ended, and I took out my white handkerchief from my bag and wiped off the sweat on my forehead. A few minutes more of standing, my brother arrived with a red sports car and parked, and the security man finally let me enter into the gate. "Eva, take a look at your face and neck. What the heck?" He gasped, and I was stunned as I hadn't taken a look at myself in the mirror. "What happened to myself? What do you mean?" I asked my older brother, laughing as I was nervous. So I walked up to his car and peered at my reflection in the mirror. I was shocked by the sight that beheld me. My cheek was painted red, and there were hickeys all over my neck. "What???" I gasped, embarrassed by my own state. "I didn't know I looked this bad. I am sorry," I said, and my brother shook his head, still laughing at my embarrassed state. "This is enough for Jacob Stone to break up with you. Who did you get laid with?" My brother asked, his eyes peering at me, and I lowered my head as my cheeks flushed. "It's not important to talk about him. It's a one-night stand," I said, my voice trembling as my older brother towered above me. "One-night stand, and he painted you this red? Do you happen to know him?" "No… I…. I mean, I don't know him," I said, my voice quivering. "Can you take me to your house and stop asking me questions?" I said, wanting to escape my brother's inquiry, and he peered at me with a calculated gaze. "Why do I feel like you're lying to me, and you know the man you had a night with? Well, in case you are not aware, Jacob canceled the engagement, and he is demanding the sum of 10 million dollars as compensation for all the money he spent on you," my brother said as he moved over to pull his car door open for me. "What? Ten million dollars? When did Jacob spend such a huge amount for me? The university cost only $200,000 times four years, and a few more expenses. Let's say a total of $2,000,000. When did he ever spend up to $10,000,000 for me? Even the money he spent on me isn't up to $2,000,000," I said, my voice sharp, and Cruz exhaled. "Well, that's what he is demanding as compensation for you cheating on him. As for Dad, he broke off the partnership and demanded that Dad pays him 5 million as his support f*e. So that's a total of 15 million dollars that we have to pay Jacob now," Cruz said with a calm voice as I sat in his car. "I will not pay that amount. We dated, and I don't owe Jacob anything. Where is it written that you have to pay for a breakup as compensation? I didn't intend to cheat on him. Layla set me up, and I ought to have her arrested. How can Jacob not understand? Instead, he blocked me from contacting him," I ranted, wanting to visit Jacob and Layla, only that I looked so flushed at the moment. "Mmm," My brother exhaled and said, "It's why you should have kept your guard up. You already made the mistake, and Jacob caught you. But how about the man you slept with? Did he see Jacob and you? If he is able to afford a room at the Owen's luxury five-star hotel, then he must be a big shot," Cruz said, his gaze calculative. "I don't want to talk about the man. He said that I owe him for taking advantage of him," I said, and my brother burst out laughing. "He took advantage of you, and he blamed you for taking advantage of him? Well, I will say you let him go, but if you happen to know him, you could have made him explain to Jacob that it was a setup," Cruz said, but I shook my head. "Just take me home. I will confront Layla and Jacob later," I said, exhausted, and my brother closed the car door. Walking over to the driver's seat, he got into the car and fastened his seat belt. "About my wife," he said, and I knew that Maddison and I didn't get along. "You have to put up with her tantrum and not argue with her," he reminded me, and I sighed. "Why will she be the one controlling you? You didn't marry her for her money. If you didn't help in her father's company, Almond Tech wouldn't have grown to the height it is today," I said, knowing that my brother works for Maddison's father before he got married to Maddison. But she controlled him to the point that she didn't allow their baby to answer my brother's surname. Her baby is Chris Brooklyn instead of Chris Brooks. "It doesn't change anything, so long as we love each other," Cruz said, but I didn't have the time to advise him. He was 30 years old and old enough to make his own decisions. I sat silently, watching the road as Cruz drove his red sports car down the White Estate road, and he finally arrived at a white gate and parked.Ethan Owen ~~~The previous Friday night, after completing a business deal, I decided to stay in my hotel.What I hadn't expected was for a woman to rush into my room and climb onto me on my bed."Take me," she begged, her voice alluring, her hands reaching over my robe to strip it off.I was stunned for a moment, not knowing if she was a setup sent to destroy me.I am a billionaire CEO in Dominic City. Although my parents were pressing me to get married and had even arranged a bride for me—Freya Dallas, who was my father's best friend's daughter—my family wanted me to marry her because her grandparents and my father's parents were close friends.Freya was a model here in Dominic City, and she also worked as a television broadcaster.I had an aversion to women. I felt they didn't love me and were only after my money and fame.In short, I hadn't taken a liking to anyone. I hadn't been in a serious relationship either. It was just business and empowering the youth in Dominic City. My f
Eva Brooks ~~~The car ride was silent, as there were two policemen in the car. One was driving, while the other sat calmly and watched the road."You should have thought of the consequences when you chose to cheat on your boyfriend," the second policeman, who had dragged me into the car, said."Officer, I didn't intentionally cheat on Jacob. This is against the law. You all should have gone to arrest Layla, not me. She set me up!" I raised my voice at the policeman, who scoffed."You didn't come to the police station to report your friend, so why should we arrest her? You are being arrested for fraud and deceit, and that's your crime. So you better keep shut, unless you want me to add to your punishment," the policeman said, and I gulped back all the words that I wanted to use to defend myself.I watched the road silently as the police car drove off to the police station.After a few more minutes of driving, the police car arrived at the police station branch and parked in the parki
Eva Brooks ~~~"I've been honest with you, Maddison. Ethan doesn't like his secretary coming late to work or fumbling at business meetings. You know that Owen Groups has many businesses, so he is very busy. Also, he hates when his secretary gawps at him. His rules are much like I heard, but it's good for me. He hasn't cheated since we started dating. It's our family who set up our engagement, so I consider myself lucky to have a man like him," Freya said happily, and I nearly coughed out my lungs hearing that Ethan hadn't cheated on Freya.Wasn't he the same man who plastered me with hickeys all over my body? Well, I thought I was the one who rushed to meet him, so maybe he might not have cheated on Freya truly."Mmm, that sounds nice. But my husband's sister is a hooker. She broke up with her ex-boyfriend to sleep with a man for money, so I will advise you to keep your man in check before she snatches him," Maddison said, her voice stern as she glared at me.Freya laughed it off. "F
Eva Brooks ~~~"Hello, sir. This is Eva Brooks calling," I said swiftly, my heart pounding faster in my chest. *Why am I like this, because of a simple call?* I pondered as there was silence on the line, before Ethan's deep voice reverberated in my eardrum."I am aware. Have you made up your mind to work for me? I gave you my personal contact card, so I know you're the one calling," he said, his deep voice making my thighs clench together, and I gasped. "Oh! Well, I thought about your offer, and I accept working as your secretary. Are you sure you will pay me two million dollars per month?""Yeah. Or have you changed your price?" he asked smoothly."No. I accept. It's fine. I just want to be sure that you will pay me that amount," I said, and he sighed."I will keep to my term of the deal. You should keep to yours. I expect to see you in my company by Monday—note, not the hotel," he said, and I gulped hard, looking at the company's address."I will be there, boss," I said, and he lau
Eva Brooks ~~~"Cruz, is this what you want? To break up with me because of your slut of a sister?" Maddison shrieked, but Cruz stood unfazed."Your brother got kicked out by your parents because of his bad boy lifestyle at college, and you accommodate him. Why cannot you accommodate my own sister?" Cruz asked, his tone sharp, and Maddison fumbled to find words."You cannot compare my brother to your sister. Noah's issues are different. Fine, if Eva stays, I don't want to see her anywhere around the company. She is fired!" Maddison declared and turned to go back upstairs, and my brother sighed and turned to face me."Come on, let me show you to the guest room. Tomorrow, I will accompany you to go and see Mom and Dad when they must have calmed down," Cruz spoke softly, and I stood there worriedly."I don't want you and your wife to be having marital issues because of me," I spoke calmly, but Cruz smiled."Don't worry. I will talk to her," he replied calmly, while I watched Noah sit on
Eva Brooks ~~~Arriving at the white gate, Cruz parked the red sports car at the frontage, and I asked him, "How about the other houses? Are all the houses in this estate the same?""No. Houses in this White Estate are expensive and costly, and only billionaires can afford to live here," Cruz replied calmly as he waited for the gate man to pull the gate open for him."So your wife is a billionaire? Then tell her to pay Jacob Stone for us?" I asked my brother, and he laughed."It's easier said than done. She is not really a billionaire, and moreover, you incurred the debt. You should think of how to earn money to pay Jacob off before he comes to arrest you," Cruz said as he ignited his car and drove into the compound."Why will Jacob come to arrest me? I didn't steal from him or intentionally cheat on him. Moreover, where do I want to get the work that will pay me the money to cover for a ten million dollars debt? At Almond Tech, I was offered a job with a salary of $200,000. How many
