LOGINEva Brooks:
Arriving at the White Estate gate where Cruz lives, the taxi driver pulled to a stop. I settled my fare and stepped out. My only brother got married to Maddison Brooklyn, a rich man's daughter, and she was too pompous and proud. She went along with my older sister, Elora. Sighing, I walked up to meet the estate security man. "Yes, who are you here to see?" the tough-looking security man in black asked. "Um, I am here to see my older brother, Cruz Brooks. He lives in the estate," I said, already exhausted. On a Saturday morning like this, I knew I should have been at home resting. But here I was, standing in front of an estate gate. "Call him," the security man replied, ordering me to stand aside. I knew I wouldn't be allowed entry into the estate. Pulling out my phone, I called Cruz. However, I was stunned when I saw a black Rolls Royce driving into the estate gate. The White Estate was known to habitate many wealthy billionaires in Dominic City. Gulping, I froze as my gaze locked with Ethan Owen—the same man I had a one-night stand with a few hours ago. *What was he doing here? Did he live inside this White Estate too?* I gulped and immediately looked away, pretending I didn't know him. But his gaze bored into me; I could feel the intensity of it. Another security man pulled the magnificent gate open and Ethan's car drove in. Not just his car alone—I noticed bodyguards in another black convoy following behind him. I released the breath I didn't know I was holding. "Hello, Cruz, I am at the estate gate now," I informed my older brother on the call. "I will be there now," Cruz replied, and the call ended. I took out my white handkerchief from my bag and wiped the sweat from my forehead. A few minutes later, my brother arrived with a red sports car and parked. The security man finally let me enter. "Eva, take a look at your face and neck. What the heck?" Cruz gasped. I was stunned—I hadn't taken a look at myself in the mirror. "What happened to me? What do you mean?" I asked, laughing nervously. I walked up to his car and peered at my reflection in the mirror. I was shocked by the sight that beheld me. My cheek was painted red and hickeys covered my neck. "What???" I gasped, embarrassed by my own state. "I didn't know I look this bad. I am sorry," I said. My brother shook his head, still laughing at my embarrassment. "This is enough for Jacob Stone to break up with you. Who did you get laid with?" His eyes peered at me, and I lowered my head as my cheeks flushed. "It's not important to talk about the man. It's a one-night stand," I replied, my voice trembling as my older brother towered above me. "One-night stand, and he painted you this red? Do you happen to know him?" "No… I… I mean, I don't know him," I replied, my voice quivering. "Cruz, can you take me to your house and stop asking me questions?" I said, wanting to escape my brother's inquiry. He peered at me with a calculated gaze. "Eva, why do I feel like you're lying to me and you know the man you had a night with? Well, in case you are not aware, Jacob cancelled the engagement and he is demanding the sum of 10 million dollars as compensation for all the money he spent on you." Cruz moved over to pull his car door open for me. "What? Ten million dollars? When did Jacob spend such a huge amount on me? The university cost only $800,000 per year—times four years, and a few more expenses. Let's say a total of $4,000,000. When did he ever spend up to $10,000,000 on me? Even the money he spent isn't up to $4,000,000," I said, my voice sharp. Cruz exhaled. "Well, that's what Jacob is demanding as compensation for you cheating on him. As for Dad, he broke off the partnership and demands that Dad pay him 5 million as his support f*e. So that's a total of 15 million dollars we have to pay Jacob now," Cruz said calmly as I sat in his car. "I will not pay that amount. We dated and I don't owe Jacob anything. Where is it written that you have to pay for breakup as compensation? I didn't intend to cheat on him. Layla set me up, and I ought to have her arrested. How can Jacob not understand? Instead he blocked me from contacting him." I ranted, wanting to visit Jacob and Layla, only I looked so flushed at the moment. "Mmm." My brother exhaled. "It's why you should have kept your guard up. You already made the mistake and Jacob caught you. But how about the man you slept with? Did he see Jacob and you disagreeingat the hotel? If he is able to afford a room at the Owen's luxury five-star hotel, then he must be a big shot." Cruz's gaze was calculative. "I don't want to talk about the man. He said that I owe him for taking advantage of him," I replied, and my brother burst out laughing. "The man took advantage of you, and he blames you for taking advantage of him? Well, I will say you let him go. But if you happen to know him, you could have made him explain to Jacob that it was a setup," Cruz said. I shook my head. "Just take me home. I will confront Layla and Jacob later," I replied, exhausted. Cruz closed the car door, walked over to the driver's seat, got in, and fastened his seat belt. "About my wife," he said. I knew Maddison and I didn't get along. "You have to put up with her tantrums and not argue with her," he reminded me. I sighed. "Why will Maddison be the one controlling you? You didn't marry her for her money. If you didn't help in her father's company, Almond Tech wouldn't have grown to the height it is today." I knew my brother worked for Maddison's father before he got married to her. But she controlled him to the point she didn't allow their baby to answer my brother's surname. Her baby is Chris Brooklyn, instead of Chris Brooks. "It doesn't change anything, so long as we love each other," Cruz replied. I didn't have the time to advise him. He was 30 years old, old enough to make his own decisions. I sat silently, watching the road as Cruz drove his red sports car down the White Estate road. He finally arrived at a white gate and parked.EVA'S POVAs I stood aside, preparing to dial Ethan's number, I watched the CEO of Johnson Group, Gabriel Johnson, stride up to meet me."Eva, you look so stunning tonight," CEO Gabriel said, as he wore a black tuxedo and a deep red undershirt. He extended his hand for a handshake, and he took my hand and placed a soft kiss on my knuckles. My heart fluttered, and I wanted to withdraw my hand away from his hold as I recalled that he is a womaniser."What are you doing standing out here?" CEO Gabriel asked me softly as he stood with his bodyguards beside him."Um, I want to call someone," I replied, and he smiled."Alright. Will you be quick about the call, or should I wait for you? I do not mind taking you in as my plus one," he grinned, and I looked over at his men who stood behind him."The call will take me a while. Actually, I want to help my brother with something," I said, as I watched Cruz and Maddison step forward."Oh, Mrs. Brooklyn. You didn't inform me that you are in connec
ETHAN'S POVIn the field, I held the golf stick and struck the ball, aiming for a goal; however, the ball rolled over and didn't fall into the hole."Let me try," Cade said as he stepped forward, took the stick, and struck another ball that the coach had set on the ground for him.As Cade's luck would shine, the ball flew a long distance and rolled into the hole. He scored against me."Yes!" Cade gasped with excitement, and my lips curled in a smile watching him."This deserves some truth. Ethan, tell me," Cade said as he strode to meet me, but I didn't say a word. My lips remained locked, and I looked over at the distance, calculating how to strike the ball."If you miss your target, you are telling me the truth of what's ongoing," Cade pressed, his tone serious. I laughed and held the stick with a firm grip."Deal," I agreed, and Cade's eyes widened."No backing out," Cade said as he stepped aside for me to strike the ball.As the coach set the ball, I held the stick and struck it.
ETHAN'S POV"It's complicated, man. You wouldn't believe that Freya called my mother and reported to her that I was cheating on her," I started to say as I peered at Cade's face. He burst out laughing hard."I wanted to ask you too. What's going on with you, Ethan? Do you check the news at all?" Cade asked, his tone serious."What do you mean?" I asked him, my brows furrowed.Cade's lips curled up in a smile as he brought out his phone. His finger clicked on the screen, and he showed me a photo."Take a look at the gossip news about you. It clearly shows you, Owen's Group CEO, on his knees in front of his secretary, wearing a shoe on her feet. And you are saying that you have an aversion to women? I think you are not being honest with me even though I am your buddy."I snatched Cade's phone and peered at the screen. My jaw dropped because it didn't occur to me that someone had secretly taken a snapshot of me when I was testing the shoes on Eva's feet."These are just photos. They don'
ETHAN'S POVAfter I left my parents' place, I instructed my driver to take me to the golf center, while I pulled my phone to make a call to my best friend."What's up, Cade, how are you doing this weekend?" I asked him, as I listened to his response."I am fine. I wanted to call you now, but I don't know what you're up to. Are you hanging out with your fiancée?" Cade asked, and my brows furrowed."No. I am heading to the golf center. Meet me there," I replied before he agreed."Got it." The rest of the call ended, and I reclined in my car seat, my gaze out of the window.Arriving at the golf center in Dominic City, where Cade and I hung out to catch up on our lives, I watched the car pull to a halt and I climbed out.A man in black welcomed me, as he was a security guard, while I responded to his greetings before striding to the field to take a look at the vast surrounding. The open field, the thick forest far ahead, the high mountains, and the birds chirping around.A few elderly men
EVA:"Eva, what took you so long to purchase a watch for Ethan's sister?" Elora asked after I arrived at the car and unlocked the front passenger door. I plopped into the front seat and apologized, "I am sorry. I just thought to purchase something more expensive." I blushed; my sister shook her head and ignited the car."I get it. For your boss's sister, you have to give her something worth it. Otherwise, I am sure she will reject it," Elora said as she drove out of the parking lot. She headed for the Owen's Hotel."Yeah," I replied with a smile. My gaze remained outside the window as I avoided looking at Elora's face. My heart was thumping loudly in my chest as I pondered if Ethan would misinterpret my gift for his sister.I kept looking outside the car as my phone vibrated. My heart raced, thinking it was Ethan calling me, but a wave of disappointment crashed down on me when I saw that it was Jacob. With Elora in the car, I drew a deep breath and answered his call."Hello, Jacob."I
EVA:After Elora went into her room, Mom looked at me adoringly and asked, "Eva, are you sure that there's nothing ongoing between you and your boss?"Meeting her gaze, I replied, "Nothing.""Mm. Alright. You should stay safe at the birthday party, and it's better that you stay close to Elora to avoid stories that touch the heart," Mom advised me as she made her way to the corridor."Got it, Mom," I replied as I moved back to perch on the black couch in the living room while waiting for my sister to finish changing her clothes. How could Ethan give me a bag and shoes worth 10 million? What game is he playing? I had tried to pay him the money I owed him, but he refused.Did he truly want to keep me as his mistress? But he is engaged.I sighed while checking my last conversation with Ethan on my phone. The living room door unlocked, and my dad strode in. His eyes widened in surprise, just as Mom's and Elora's had."Eva, you look stunning. What are you waiting for? You should go to the p
EVA'S POV:When I rang the doorbell, my mother came over and pulled the door to unlock it for me from within."Eva, you are back," Mom said, her lips curled up in a smile as she stepped back for me to enter the living room."Yes, Mom. I am back. Good evening," I greeted her, as the smell of fried p
-Eva's POV-"Eva, how was your day today at work?" Mom asked me happily when Elora and I walked into the living room. The time was past 7 p.m., and Elora groaned, "Mom, you did not ask me how my day went? You are only concerned about Eva? Am I not your daughter too?"Mom, clad in a red top and blac
(Eva's POV) Walking over to the dining table, I settled into my chair across from my sister. As my mother walked out of the kitchen, she smiled and said, "Let me call your father. Dinner is almost ready." "Alright, Mom," I smiled, watching her hurry into the corridor to summon my father. A few mi
-Eva's POV- "You have a very beautiful secretary, Ethan," Mr. Johnson said, as he smiled at Ethan and looked at me. My face flushed red at his compliment, but I stilled myself and focused on my job. "What's your name, Miss? Come over and bring the drinks," Mr. Johnson gestured for me to bring the
