EIRA’S POV

Soren kept a firm hold on my elbow as he led me down the hallway. He wasn’t hurting me, but his touch felt strangely cold, and the way he kept guiding me as though I couldn’t manage a few steps on my own was beginning to irritate me.

I hated feeling helpless. More than that, I hated being treated like I was made of glass.

“You really don’t have to follow me everywhere,” I complained, trying to sound more confident than I felt.

Soren glanced down at me, his forehead creasing.

More than that, I hated being treated like I was made of glass.“You really don’t have to follow me everywhere,” I complained, trying to sound more confident than I felt.Soren glanced down at me, his forehead creasing.“Eira, you’re still recovering. Just let me help you.”“I can walk perfectly fine on my own,” I muttered, trying to pull my arm away. “I don’t need—”“Don’t need what?” he interrupted, his voice calm, although I could hear the warning beneath it. “Someone to look after you? Or someone to stop you from doing something foolish and ripping your stitches open just because you’re too stubborn to admit you need help?”I pressed my lips together. The annoying part was that he wasn’t wrong. I knew I wasn’t full

EIRA’S POVMorning light filtered gently through the curtains, slowly pulling me out of sleep. I blinked a few times, trying to make sense of the unfamiliar room. The sharp scent of disinfectant, the quiet noise coming from the air vent, and the heaviness in my body quickly reminded me that I wasn’t in my own bed.I tried shifting into a sitting position, but a hand gently pressed against my shoulder.“Easy. You shouldn’t be moving around just yet.”I turned towards the voice and found Soren sitting beside my bed. Seeing him there brought an unexpected sense of comfort. His brown eyes were fixed on me, and the worry written across his face was impossible to miss.“Soren?” I managed to whisper. My throat felt terribly dry, and my voice came out rough, almost as though I hadn’t spoken in days.He gave me a small smile, looking relieved that I was finally awake.“It’s me. You’re alright now. You’re safe.”Safe.I repeated the word silently, but it didn’t quite feel real. I didn’t feel sa

KAEL’S POVA couple of hours later, I was still trying to make sense of everything when Tom and Adams walked into the pack house. They were two of my father’s most trusted men, and judging by the way they carried themselves, they hadn’t come for a casual visit. They asked for Thorne.I had a dozen questions, but I kept them to myself and directed them to his room. I wanted to know what was going on, and I had a feeling their sudden arrival had something to do with whatever my brother was planning. When Thorne finally came downstairs, I stepped into his path before he could get any further.“What the hell are you up to, Thorne?” I asked, unable to hide the irritation in my voice. “I need you to stop playing games. We’re grown men, not children.”He paused on the stairs and looked back at me over his shoulder. That familiar smirk spread across his face.“Take it easy, Kael. I know what I’m doing.”“Really?” I scoffed. “Then what the hell did you tell the old man?”He ignored my question

SORENI came out of sleep with a sudden jolt, my heart thudding painfully against my chest. For a moment, I struggled to catch my breath, my fingers gripping the armrests of the chair as I tried to steady myself. My gaze immediately shifted to Eira. She was still asleep on the hospital bed, looking surprisingly peaceful despite everything that had happened. I watched her for a while, almost wishing I could trade places with her and enjoy that kind of rest. Then again, her body had been through so much that she probably needed every bit of sleep she could get.Unlike her, I felt completely drained. My muscles were stiff, and the tension running through my body made it seem as though I’d spent the entire night fighting.I rubbed my face, hoping to shake off the disturbing images still lingering in my head. But they wouldn’t go away. That endless darkness. The unbearable cold. The strange feeling that something was watching me from somewhere within the shadows. It was unlike any nightmar

SORENAn intense chill washed over me, and I immediately became aware of how cold my surroundings were. It felt as though the freezing temperature had found its way beneath my skin, settling deep in my bones. Each time I exhaled, a faint cloud of mist escaped my lips before disappearing into the air.I could barely see anything around me.Darkness stretched endlessly in every direction, so dense that even when I raised my hands, I couldn’t make out their outlines. I moved cautiously, my boots scraping against what felt like solid ground. The tiny sound seemed strangely loud against the unnatural silence.Where the hell was I?I turned slowly, examining my surroundings, but there was nothing to help me figure out where I’d ended up. The place seemed endless, an enormous stretch of nothingness without a beginning or an end.Yet something told me I wasn’t alone. There was something hiding in the darkness.“Hello?” I called, my voice coming out weaker than I’d intended. No response. My wo
