Penelope pov

I blinked as the morning light crept through the curtains. My eyes felt heavy, but the first thing I saw snapped me awake—my dad, sitting silently in the chair by my bed. His face was calm, but his hands clenched his knees like he was holding back a storm.

The events of the day before came crashing down on me. My heart clenched. I didn’t need to say a word. I threw myself into his arms, clutching him like he was the only lifeline in a raging sea. Tears spilled over as I sobbed into his shoulder.

“Dad... thank you,” I choked out between sobs. “I missed you so much, Dad.” i cried and he held me.

He held me tightly, his voice soft but firm. “It’s okay, it’s okay,” he murmured, his hand stroking my hair. “But I need you to be okay too, sweetheart. I need you to be stronger. Right now, I need you to trust me.”

I sniffled, pulling back to look at him. “What do you mean?”

He smiled faintly, brushing the tears from my face. “Come on, I have a surprise for you.”he said as he held

I couldn't bear the thought of what I would do if they weren't; I just knew it would be devastating.Upon landing at the airport, I spotted my parents waiting for me. My mother rushed toward me, enveloping me in a warm embrace.“My baby... my daughter... it’s going to be alright,” she cried, holding me tightly. I was at a loss for words, standing there frozen, yet relieved to see that she was okay. Then, I broke down. She held me against her chest as I sobbed.“Shhh, it’s going to be okay. We will find them,” she reassured me, even though I knew she wasn’t entirely certain. Still, her words did little to ease the torment within me.“What if they’re

It was night, and the darkness wrapped around the mansion like a protective cloak. My earlier confrontation with Vespera had surprisingly left me feeling at ease, even happy. It was gratifying to witness her experience the consequences of her actions, to see her suffer, and I could only hope this was merely the beginning of her torment. At last, I had succeeded in putting her in her place, and for the first time, I felt a sense of triumph.“You should get to bed,” my father’s voice resonated behind me, steady yet firm. “Tomorrow will be a long day. We’re leaving,” he added.I turned to him and let out a soft laugh, even though I knew his words weren’t meant to be humorous. I laughed only because it was so difficult to accept.“Do we really have to leave?” I asked quietly as he sighed and sat down beside me.“You're not safe here. I know these mafias; it isn’t over until you’re dead. Eve may have a lot on her plate now, but there are others who might want you gone,” he said, and I look

I remained by my mother's side; she was still in a coma, while my father was constantly busy trying to sort out our papers to get us out of the county. It was noon when I heard a voice I despised more than any other.Vespera.“Father, please, you can't disown us! The Castillo family will eliminate us, please!” I heard her loud voice coming from the direction of my father's office.“Leave, before I have you thrown out,” my father's voice boomed so loudly that it startled me.“You
