Chapter 2

Author: Summer
“I will plead our case to Alpha Bennet. The Silverwood Pack will also do its best to find a way out of this alliance agreement.”

Ethan looked at the parchment in my hand and suddenly let out a soft chuckle. “Willow, were you trying to beg your father to force me to mate with you? He must have made you suffer in the ice chamber because he’s so stressed right now.

“Go inside. Once I make sure Chloe is safe, I’ll mate with you as agreed. You no longer have to worry about this matter.”

After saying this, Ethan turned to look at me tenderly and gently patted the back of my hand.

He behaved just as he had when he was a young pup.

Perhaps he may have liked me as we grew up together in the pack.

However, after living through everything in the previous timeline, I knew that he truly belonged to Chloe.

We would inevitably torment each other and run into a bitter end.

“You don’t have to worry about me.” I pulled my hand away from his touch.

Ethan frowned and snatched the alliance parchment from me to take a quick look.

“What are you talking about, Willow? Haven’t I worried about you plenty since we were pups?”

That was true. Our mothers had arranged a betrothal between our families when we were young. Thus, we grew up side by side in the pack.

After my mother died, I relied on him and his wolf more and more.

But it was long past time that I woke up from my daydreams.

I pushed his hand away and took the alliance treaty back. “We’re all grown-up wolves now, Ethan. This time, we’ll all get what we want.”

“What are you talking about? The betrothal between our families is set in stone. Who else would you marry?”

I looked at him silently.

In this timeline, I would be the one to leave the pack. Thus, Ethan would not die under the claws of the Rogues.

Even though I knew that everything in the previous timeline had ended in pain and heartbreak, the love and trust I had felt for Ethan was not so easily erased.

In the end, my body gave out from the severe frostbite of the ice chamber, and I fainted onto the snow-covered ground.

Before I fully lost consciousness, I saw Ethan’s golden eyes flash with panic as he pulled me worriedly into his warm embrace.

When I woke up, I smelled the sharp, metallic scent of herbs and antiseptics in the pack infirmary.

Ethan was resting in a wooden chair beside my bed, his calloused hand resting on the edge of my blanket.

As I looked at him in that quiet moment, I would have believed that his wolf really loved me, too—if not for his final words in the previous timeline.

As if his wolf sensed that I had awakened, Ethan quickly opened his eyes. He frowned and scolded gently, “What’s the matter with you? I was just telling you to rest, and you fainted from the cold. Don’t you know your wolf has always been weak?”

“Ethan.”

“Yeah?”

“Do you remember the Silver Lake we always went to as pups?”

“Of course. The first time you tried to chase small fish near the shore, you slipped and nearly fell into the deep water crying. You only stopped bawling after I shifted into my pup form and pulled you out.”

I looked at him and forced a faint smile. “Take me there one last time, please?”

Ethan looked a little displeased. “Why are you talking like that? We can go to the lake as many times as you want after our mating ceremony in the future.”

‘There’s no more future for us,’ I told myself in silence. But I did not say that out loud.

Surely it would be a huge surprise to him when Chloe becomes his Luna instead.

“Let's go this evening. My wolf feels fine now.”

“Alright, just this once. After that, I still need to deal with that alliance agreement between your family and the Bloodmoon Pack.”

Ethan did not stay long. He returned to the pack house to handle some boundary matters after arranging to meet me at the edge of Silver Lake.

I returned to my private cabin to pack up my belongings.

After my mother died, Father brought Chloe and her mother into the Pack House, so I moved out to live on the pack's border.

Before Chloe showed up, Ethan would make me a hand-crafted moonstone charm every year for my birth-moon.

These charms came in various forms. One was carved in the likeness of a wolf pup I used to play with, and others were woven with delicate lunar crystals from the pack. There was even one depicting my mother and me in our human forms.

This tradition only lasted until my eighteenth birth-moon, when Chloe was brought into the pack.

From then on, all the hand-crafted charms went to Chloe. The gifts I received were just cold, formal trinkets bought by his Delta.

I kept only the moonstone charm of my mother and myself in my cloak pocket. The rest I left behind in the cabin.

When everything was done, I stood at the edge of Silver Lake and waited for Ethan.

But even after the moonlight faded and the night grew pitch black, Ethan still did not show up. There were no mind-link messages or signals from him on my phone.

A heavy downpour broke out over the lake, but I had no cloak to shield myself and no pack warriors to escort me home.

The icy rain soaked my clothes and drenched my hair. As the freezing water poured down, it brought back vivid, painful memories of the brutal Rogue attack in the previous timeline.

My heart clenched with unbearable agony.

I took one last look at the dark shores of Silver Lake behind me—the place where Ethan and I had shared so many happy memories as pups.

‘Goodbye, Ethan. I hope our paths never cross again. I hope you and your wolf find happiness in this life,’ I thought.

Before I could turn to leave, someone shoved a wolfsbane-soaked rag over my face. Everything went black.

“Because you’ve done nothing to hurt me.”For the past few days, I had asked myself the exact same question. Why had I lunged forward without hesitation to save an Alpha fiance I had barely known for a month?Perhaps it was because while I was broken and bleeding, he had shielded me from the world, giving me a quiet sanctuary to heal.Perhaps it was because every gentle smile from this supposed 'bloodthirsty monster' warmed a heart frozen for years.Over the next few weeks, the Bloodmoon Pack was completely stunned. The famously cold, lethal Alpha Atlas turned down all regional council summits and military patrols just to stay by my side in the medical wing. He read ancient wolf lore to me in his deep voice, clumsily peeled winter berries, and handled his pack duties beside my bed. Before I was discharged, he personally pinned an enchanted silver brooch onto my cloak—a blooming iris flower carved from rare lunar jade, the supreme crest of the Ashwood lineage. It signaled to every wolf

Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, the heavy iron carriage finally came to a halt at the gates of a dark, sprawling fortress built deep within the crags of the Bloodmoon Pack territory. After stepping down from the carriage, I was brought to a quiet, heavily guarded stone estate nestled near the inner forest.“Miss Willow,” a scarred Beta warrior said, bowing his head respectfully. “Alpha Atlas hopes you can rest well here. I am his Delta, Eric. You are currently in the safest sanctuary in the entire Bloodmoon territory.”I offered only a faint, tired smile in response. If it were truly that simple and safe, this dark fortress would not have lost three of its previous prospective Lunas. The agonizing fatigue from the silver whips and wolfsbane burns finally caught up with me. Weak and exhausted, I collapsed onto the soft fur bedding, thinking of nothing at all as I fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.Over the next five days, nothing threatened my life. The dark, magic-infused salves pro

“Look! Isn’t that Alpha Bennet’s eldest daughter, Willow?!”“Is she being whipped?! Moon Goddess, her skin is scorched with wolfsbane! No wonder only Miss Chloe was brought out for the mating ceremony tonight!”“How sick! She looks like her wolf was almost broken in that projection!”Alpha Bennet turned deathly pale on the high platform. Meanwhile, sheer, murderous malice flashed in Chloe’s eyes as she backed away, her hands trembling violently beneath her white silk dress.“Honored guests, this... this is some sick illusion!” Alpha Bennet stammered, his voice shaking as he tried to exert his Alpha authority over the crowd. “Someone has ill intentions toward my family! My eldest daughter went to the Bloodmoon Pack voluntarily for the alliance! She is completely unharmed!”However, he was proven wrong in the very next second. The memory crystal flipped to its second phase, playing Chloe’s clear, unedited mental audio for the entire banquet hall to hear:“I want you to torment Willow hal

The grand hall of the Pack House was alive with music, fine wine, and cheering guests. Alpha Bennet stood on stage, bragging to visiting Alphas about his family’s growing power. No one mentioned Willow’s name. It was as if she had never existed.Upstairs in the dressing suite, Chloe stood before a mirror in her white silk dress, surrounded by a group of flattering socialites.“Is it true Willow was sent to the Bloodmoon Pack?” one girl asked with a smirk.Chloe took a sip of wine and laughed softly. “Isn’t it pathetic? She actually begged Father to save her. Three Lunas have already died in that brutal territory. A weak, crippled wolf like her won’t last a single full moon.”“She’s an idiot,” another giggled.“Willow was a fool,” Chloe sneered, dropping her sweet act entirely. “I spent a little gold, and my mercenaries tormented her until she looked like a walking corpse! My guards had to throw her into the border carriage like trash.”She swirled her glass, her eyes filled with malice

Ethan stared down at the trembling rogue chief chained to the stone wall, his face devoid of any warmth.“Alpha Ethan, please!” the rogue choked out, shaking violently under Ethan’s crushing pressure. “Alpha Bennet only told us to intimidate Miss Willow so she’d sign the territorial release forms! But Chloe Bennet came to us in secret. She offered us a massive fortune to destroy her!”Ethan’s eyes narrowed. “You’re lying,” he spat, his voice dropping an octave into a dangerous, deadly rumble. “Chloe is fragile and innocent. She wouldn't even hurt a stray pup. You’re lying to save your own pathetic skin!”“I swear on my rogue blood, I’m telling the absolute truth!” the rogue shrieked, backing his head against the cold stone as far as the chains allowed. “Why would I lie now?! Look at my pouch! She paid us with central pack Gold Marks! Check the seal! It’s Chloe’s personal mark!”Ethan stared at the velvet pouch Marcus held up. The wax seal bore Chloe’s family crest. His heart dropped in

  • Claimed by the Enemy Alpha   Chapter 4

“Oh, you still don’t know, Ethan?“The other day, Willow came to talk to me. She said she was willing to go to the Bloodmoon Pack to fulfill the alliance agreement. Ah, it was the day you were outside the Pack House together. You young wolves are all so impulsive.“I thought Willow told you about it. It’s a big deal for the pack, after all.”Alpha Bennet did not sound the least bit sad that his daughter had left.Afterward, he summoned Chloe to come over. “Ethan, I can tell that you favors Chloe. I’ve decided to play matchmaker and set up your mating ceremony.”Ethan had thought about this many times in the past. If not for his betrothal with Willow, he would have chosen to mate with Chloe. However, he could not listen to Alpha Bennet speak another word. He rushed out of the Pack House. What consumed his mind was the horrifying realization that Willow had actually left him.But didn’t I prefer Chloe? The only thing I had with Willow was our family’s arranged betrothal, wasn't it?Howev
