Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day Prt2

Dean's house sold for twenty-thousand dollars less than what he had expected, and it seemed like Dean had changed into a greedy, spiteful, condescending jerk. He was constantly showing up at her business to check up on her. He would make lame excuses as to why he didn't want to go out. Then he would say 'If you pay for our night out I will go,' and of course he would order the most expensive thing on the menu. That incident had happened a few weeks ago.

Before he had dumped her so dramatically today. Earlier in the a.m. she had received a phone call from a undisclosed female. Who had informed Coral that he had been ‘hooking up’ with her behind her back, all the while she had been working her ass off to make ends meet and start her own business. It seemed that Dean had been cheating on her with multiple people. She was also informed Dean may have given the female that called a sexually transmitted disease. She had already paid a visit to her gynecologist.

Luckily, she hadn’t caught anything from him. She never thought she would be cheated on or having to be screened for STD’s. She thought she had done everything right. She had always been a good girl. She had been a great girlfriend. She confronted him about the affairs before she had gone to work and he had reassured her that he was done cheating on her. He was sorry and wanted to make it work. She felt like a used idiot now, standing on her parent's front lawn, carrying in her personal items and half packed boxes into their home that had been thrown out by Dean himself. He had dumped her without so much as a heads up. She didn’t know which emotion she should feel more heartache or anger.

The neighbors hadn't come out to look, yet. Thank goodness Coral thought, but she still saw the front window curtains from a few houses open and close. She was so embarrassed. This was the last thing her parents needed to be dealing with, or watching her deal with it for that matter. Her friends had warned her about Dean.

They all had told her he was full of shit and was lying to her, but she chose to stand by her man, and her man had chose to leave her without so much as a word. Her father had called her right after she had showed the Benson Lodges property to a newly relocated family. She was informed that Dean had pulled up with a huge U-pack truck and dropped off every single item she owned out of their condo and right here. Since she was only twenty-six with very young credit she had needed a co-signer on the condo, and Dean had been that. He didn't even have the decency to keep his name on the lease so she could have a place to stay, or to tell her he was leaving her so she could find one.

She felt knots form in her stomach, and she wanted to scream and cry right there in the middle of her parents yard. Her mother gently patted her on the back. That startled and snapped her back to reality.

"Darling, you didn't have to rush over here. Your father and I would have gotten this cleaned up."

"I know it mom, but it isn't your responsibility. It's my mess to clean up."

"Yes, it is dear, but you have work. Really honey, it’ alright."

Coral downcast her eyes in shame and felt the sting of unshed tears in the back of her throat as she saw all of her personal items in messy piles across her parents front lawn. "This is so embarrassing."

“Oh dear, everyone has been through a messy breakup.”

"No mom, it's not that.” She said quietly.

"What is it then, sweetie?" Her mom asked.

"It's the fact that I have been paying this slime ball's way for the past year. I have dealt with his judgmental family. His crazy and jealous ways. I still defended him after he cheated on me, and the best he could do was to leave me and throw my crap all over your lawn. I feel so violated, and disrespected. I have nowhere else to go. He knows that. He could have dropped this off at my office. He could have called me. Why didn't I listen? I'm sorry Mo-"

Her mother cut her off. She knew her daughter was babbling and on the verge of panicking. "Don't be,” She chimed in. “Everyone is entitled to find their way. That's what you're doing. You have somewhere to go. You can always stay here. You're a part of this family. This is always your home." Her mother smiled at her lovingly.

It made Coral smile, and a tear of gratitude fell at the same time. She re-situated the box she held in her arms and took it into her parents house…
