The Next Day

"Here it is!" Evelina jumped up in excitement as she showed her son the truck she had just bought.

Noah stared at it with a look of pure disgust because the truck was nothing like he had hoped for. It was an old, run-down 1957 Chevrolet Task Force with the ugliest shade of blue he had ever seen in his entire life. The vehicle looked like something straight out of Cars after years of being forgotten in a junkyard.

  • Coffee, Chaos and the Ceo   Chapter eighty-nine: Late night call

The day at the office had gone by in a blur. Both Adrian and Emelda continued with their work just as they had since the morning, and neither of them had spoken about what had happened earlier between Adrian and Rosalina. Adrian, on the other hand, could not stop feeling guilty.Adrian had never been the type of man who felt the need to explain himself to anyone, especially not an employee such as his secretary. Yet the guilt remained lodged in his throat, and he could not push it away. Every time Emelda asked him a question or reminded him about a task they needed to complete, Adrian felt as though the walls around him were closing in. He wanted nothing more than to scream."Can you just stop that?" Adrian suddenly ordered.Emelda, who had been neatly arranging some files on his desk, froze. Adrian knew she did not need to arrange them. He could tell that this was simply her way of making him feel guilty."I'm sorry, sir. Have I done anything wrong?" his E

The Next MorningThe Beaumont Urban Estate BuildingLast night had been a complete disaster for Adrian. What had started as a simple night filled with romance had quickly turned into a complete nightmare. Not only had he been forced to revisit painful memories of his first love, Rosalina, but he had also learned something about Evelina that he was struggling to accept. He had believed that Evelina was different... that she was the perfect woman. Yet, after everything that had happened, Adrian could not ignore the fact that she had hidden things from him.Adrian had never been someone who trusted people easily. In the past, he had always viewed others with a certain level of suspicion. Trust was something people had to earn, and even then, he rarely gave it freely. For some reason, however, he had placed Evelina above most people. Perhaps that was why the thought of her hiding things from him bothered him so much.As Adrian walked through his office floor that morning, his employees im

Evelina lay on her back, staring at the ceiling above her. She still could not believe what had just happened. After Adrian had returned from work, they had found themselves staring into each other's eyes before ultimately forgiving one another for everything that had happened in Hawaii. But that had also led to them spending the entire night making love to one another. They had broken the very rule that had been the foundation of their marriage. They were only supposed to pretend to be husband and wife in the presence of others. Their marriage was supposed to be nothing more than a contractual agreement on paper.Yet there they were... in Evelina's bed, with Adrian lying beside her."I hope you're not regretting what happened between us." Evelina froze when she heard Adrian's voice. She had thought he was asleep, but apparently, he was not. He was just as wide awake as she was.Evelina was about to open her mouth, perhaps to say something smart, but she pressed her lips together inst

“Uncle, you cannot allow Adrian to do this to me. People are going to laugh at me,” Alex complained to Adrian’s father. As soon as he heard those words come from Alex’s mouth, he reacted. Adrian’s father knew that the family’s reputation was important, and having Alex suspended from the company would cause problems and ultimately lead to scrutiny.“Adrian, you will do no such thing to Alex. He is family!” his father yelled, but Adrian was unmoved. The corners of his mouth twisted into a curve before he turned to look at his secretary, Emelda. The two of them shared a knowing smile that left Adrian’s father and his cousin confused.Adrian turned his attention back to his father and cousin and cleared his throat.“Cousin Alex, I think you were too in a hurry to read just the first part of the agreement. I think you should read further down.”“Why?” Alex asked angrily, and that mad

Beaumont Urban EstatesAs soon as Adrian walked into the building, everyone began making their way to their offices. Every employee straightened up as they realized their boss was back from his honeymoon, and that meant work was about to begin.Adrian did not waste any time. He immediately began going over the mess Alex had made. It was the kind of mess that could have bankrupted the company, just as it had almost done many years ago. Without researching the company’s finances, Alex had made his own agreements with a company that was never real. If Adrian had not gotten to it on time, the company would have lost millions.“Where is my father and Alex?” Adrian asked in a serious voice as his secretary, Emelda, hurried towards him.“They are waiting for you in your office,” Emelda answered in an equally serious tone. As much as she was happy that her boss had decided to take a week off for his honeymoon, she was even happier th

The next morningThe Island MansionAfter the ordeal Adrian had gone through, he had spent the night in the guest room instead of sleeping in the same room as Evelina. He was still burdened by the guilt he felt for putting his newfound family in such danger. He had always thought he could trust the director, who had been by his side since the beginning, but he was slowly realizing that not everyone was meant to be trusted.Adrian had spent the entire night alone, and none of the housekeepers had bothered him. They probably thought he was too traumatized by everything that had happened and needed to be by himself.Immediately after getting out of his room, Adrian made his way toward the dining table. Just as he entered, he felt a newspaper hit him against the chest. Before he could grab it, he looked up and saw Evelina angrily staring at him, her hands crossed over her chest.“What i
