Robert Hoffman is a man that wakes up early. An early bird. I tend to wake up early myself, especially when studying my subject. I heard him, when he stirred awake, stretched, and rolled out of bed. All while feigning to be asleep of course. I may or may not have fallen asleep a few minutes after he left. Unintentionally. But when I woke up again, the room was infused with more light than it was before, and the smell of bacon wafted in, through the ajar door.

Sluggishly, I murmured incoherent words, rolling over to my back, and outstretched my stiff limbs. Eyes darting around the room. It was decorared in a minimalistic way. Clearly, it was hardly ever used to have been decorated into a homely space. I swung my feet off the bed, bare feet touching the shiny dark brown wooden floor.

Feet paddling across the room into the enjoined bathroom suite, I rummaged through the cupboards, until I found a spare toothbrush. I had not planned for a stay over, so this was relatively spontaneous. Onc

Learning how to swim was gruesome. After Gary informed me about his new inflatable swimming pool in the third grade, I had inquired Madeline the headmatron of the orphanage I grew up in, for swimming lessons. The next day she called me at the playground and said we were to take a walk. Madeline was a grumpy old woman, with a scary, oversized mole just above her upper lip. The walk was silent, daunting, and nerve wrecking. Skinny eight year old me, was barely walking with trembling knees through the small trail in the woods. Twinks cracking under the weight of my sandals.Once we came to a stop in front of a lake, her green piercing eyes looked down at me, lips snarling up into a mock of a smile, a thin drawn brow quirked upward. “You said, you want to learn how to swim, right?” Her voice was always grouchy, cold, and detached from all emotions.I gulped and nodded my head, my nasty attempt of a ponytail bouncing with every movement that my head made. She then shoved my chest, arms f

When he declared not to wait up, he was being literal. The clock striked till eleven at night, and still he was not yet back. I was not quite worried, I was straight up pissed off! He dragged me from Germany all the way to Netherlands, for what? To leave me alone in a big mansion.I hate mansions! They are too quiet, and make me feel uncomfortable and anxious. I have a hyperactive imagination which leads to me getting unsettled and jumpy. I prefer small spaces. Where I can see everything surrounding me. If I am in very spacious places, I prefer to have company around. So, it literally took me long to fall asleep.Despite that, the last time I checked the time was 1:45 a.m and Robert was still not back. I must have dozed off a few minutes later. Yet when I woke up, he was not around again. He did come back though. I know this because his side of the bed was messy, his cologne had diffused to fill the entire room, and he had left a stupid note on the nightstand. ‘You looked so peaceful.

He actually managed to get Matilda to agree to grant me a week off. Even after I told him, no. After I told him not to talk to her. That I just can't go to Amsterdam. He still went and talked to her behind my back. Convinced her to grant me a week off. None of the two were willing to share the details of their agreement. However, Matilda had a wide grin on Thursday when she told me, I can have next week off, including this upcoming weekend.Well, this current weekend. Since I am already on a private jet which is to land in an hour or two. “I have my ways, sweetheart. I wouldn't be where I am if I cannot convince a masseuse to give my woman a week off,” says the arrogant man next to me, while holding up the glass of champagne, staring at the content as if it was more interesting.I scoff looking out the window. Nothing interesting but just the blue sky, littered with a few fluffy white clouds. “I still think it is rude to in

I wake up extremely late the next day. And bump my head against the headboard, followed by a loud groan. I think that is the moment Robert stirs awake. But I am already stumbling off the bed. Sheet hooking around my ankle, and I stumble over, hands thrown forward to prevent my face from crashing against the white tiles. Left hip coming into contact with the hard floor. A sharp jolt of pain cruise through my entire left leg.Omph!I hiss with my teeth clenched tightly. I hear something between a snicker and a hiss behind me. But I do not pay much attention to it. I already feel embarrassed. I want to disappear from this room instantly. So, haphazardly, I am kicking the sheet off my ankle, scratching myself with my toe nails in the process. “Will you calm down already.”Robert’s voice is grouchy, deep, yet soft and quiet, because of the sleep still clinging onto it. “I am late!” I hiss, jumping onto my feet

I swing side to side on the chair around three in the afternoon. Matilda staring at me as if I was the solution to all her worldly problems. Of course she gave me a hard time about missing work yesterday, but after hearing me groan while massaging my lower back just so I could have a seat, her scoldings turned into interrogations. “I still can't believe you missed work so you can fuck all day,” she says for the umpeeth time since this morning.I glare at her, picking at my nails. My feet are aching after standing all day. Customers coming in and out. Today was mostly filled with requests for a Brazilian wax. “We did not fuck all day. Maybe like three times but that it!” “You said four!”“Once, the evening I arrived on. The three the next day,” I exclaim before screaming out of frustration, “Argh! Why am I even arguing with you?” &n

As Robert had instructed me, I headed to the closet and indeed, on the left closet were female clothes. Gowns, blouses, pants, skirts, blazers and all sort of other items including scarves. My eyes blink at the different colours, patterns, and fabrics. They smelt of a perfume as well. I cannot pinpoint the brand, but it is sweet, flowery, and strong.Although, I am unsure, unsettle, and mostly uncomfortable, I still pick a dress. A flowy, Carribbean brown and white print dress. It fit although a little loose, but it is still flattering. A slit right in the middle, stopping midway my thighs. The tiny straps crossing at the back, leaving most of it revealed. “You look absolutely gorgeous. Perfect pick. Like I expected,” says Robert when he enters the room, with nothing but a towel around his abdomen.I briefly glance at him, refusing to allow myself to oggle at him. “Does this dress belong to someone?” I ask and then turn to face him, finding him applying lotion to his body. “The cl
