Chapter 4 His First Love

Gabriella clutched her phone tightly to her chest. Her heart ached so much that she could not breathe.

It turned out that Henry had brought Hannah to meet his friends right after he got off the plane.

All of them knew about it and expressed their blessings.

Gabriella was the only one who had been kept in the dark.

Throughout the past three years, only the Toussaints knew about her marriage to Henry.

He had never introduced her to his friends.

Even if she met them occasionally, they only knew her as the Toussaint family's adopted daughter.

When the driver came to the garage and spotted Gabriella's car, he called out in confusion, "Mrs. Toussaint?"

Gabriella immediately wiped away her tears and pretended as if she did not hear him.

Moments later, she drove away. She was not someone who would let personal matters affect her work.

At the moment, she could only use her work to divert her attention from the divorce.

Gabriella sent the proposal plan to Henry's email.

Soon, she received his reply. It was succinct as usual.

"Approved. Follow up on it closely."

Stunned for a moment, Gabriella typed a response.

"Okay."

After that, she proceeded to assign the tasks.

When it was time to get off work, Henry sent her a text.

"I have something to deal with later. You can go home first."

Gabriella pursed her lips as sadness welled up in her heart again.

With trembling fingers, she responded, "Alright."

Gabriella could be considered one of the senior executives in the company.

In the past, Henry would always keep her informed about the social events he attended and the clients he met.

However, over the past two days, he simply said he had something to do.

Well, he was probably meeting Hannah.

Another text from Henry came up.

"I bought you something during my business trip. I forgot to give it to you. It's in my luggage. You can get it yourself," it read.

"Okay," Gabriella replied.

Upon seeing the short reply from Gabriella, Henry felt a little irritable.

He leaned back in his chair and massaged his brows.

Steven Gray knocked on Henry's door before entering.

"Mr. Henry, Ms. Hannah is here."

When Gabriella stepped out of her office, she overheard the conversation among the employees who had yet to leave the office.

"Was that Mr. Henry's girlfriend who came looking for him? She has such an attractive figure!"

"It's too bad she had a mask on."

"Hey, don't you think that Mr. Henry's girlfriend's eyes look a little like Hannah Bennett's?"

"You mean the international celebrity? Seriously? Hasn't she been furthering her career overseas all this time?"

"I think she's a good match for Mr. Henry!"

"Ms. Carrington," someone greeted upon noticing Gabriella.

The rest of the employees stopped chatting at once and followed suit.

"Ms. Carrington."

Gabriella lowered her eyes and said faintly, "Working hours are over. Go ahead with whatever you're doing."

Then, she walked away. Her steady pace seemed a little hurried.

She could not wait to leave the place, as she feared that someone might notice the tears gathering in the corners of her eyes.

Gabriella wondered if Hannah had come looking for Henry.

She and Henry had not gotten a divorce yet. Had he forgotten that his legally married wife was still in the company?

Meanwhile, the employees began talking among themselves again.

"Ms. Carrington is so beautiful. I feel a bit nervous every time I see her. It's no wonder she's Mr. Henry's sister."

A new employee exclaimed in shock, "Ms. Carrington is Mr. Henry's sister?"

"Not a biological one. If it weren't for her father pressuring Mr. Albert to take her in to repay a favor, she wouldn't have been able to enter Toussaint Holdings."

"Where did you even hear this?"

"From the public relations department."

"Actually, Ms. Carrington is pretty nice."

Meanwhile, over in the basement parking lot, Gabriella was fastening her seatbelt. As soon as she looked up, she spotted two figures.

Henry was wearing the white suit she had picked out for him this morning.

Beside him stood a woman wearing a mask and a cap. She held his hand intimately as she looked up and spoke to him.

Henry listened attentively with a gentle expression.

The woman said something before shaking Henry's arm playfully.

Henry shot her a tender smile and nodded.

His first love, Hannah, had really returned.

The red tie around Henry's neck stung Gabriella's eyes.

She had chosen that to celebrate the news of her pregnancy, but now he was wearing it to go on a date with his first love.
