Heartaches

Petra

“You are late.” Dalton said.

He looked and sounded annoyed. Some sick, twisted part of me liked it.

“I don’t like when you or anyone else defiles my order.”

God, his voice. How many times had I imagined him grunting my name while he tore me apart with his insanely thick cock?

“I’m only a few minutes late. Besides, it’s past 6 p.m. I shouldn’t be here at this hour, don’t you think so?” I fired back.

Deep down I wanted to get him pissed. I  like getting him riled up,  but I also liked obeying him more.

“I beg your pardon?” He raised an eyebrow. His deep, dark tone sliced through me, making me soak my panties. I discreetly, squeezed my thighs together to try and get some relief.

My cheeks flushed and I had to tear my eyes away from him.

Flinging my handbag onto a chair, it landed with a soft tud. I wrapped my arms around my chest and hummed. “You should be thankful that I agreed to come here when I should be at home resting… instead of acting like a jerk.”

He furrowed his eyebrows. “Is that so? What part of your job description and schedule don’t you understand.”  He sounded even more pissed.

“I am not one of your employees, Dalton… you don’t get to boss me around.”

“Mr. Winchester…  it’s Mr. Winchester”. He corrected. “And as long as you are handling this company's promotion, you fucking work for me and that means you have to be on your toes at all time… which includes reporting to the office whenever you are called in.”

Jeez! What the heck was his problem? Anger was burning in his eyes. I’d never seen him so mad over anything.

“I have fired many, many insolent workers. I’m sure you probably already know that. Most people don’t last very long working for me.”

“And that’s something to be proud of?” I muttered under my breath, taking a seat  opposite his desk.

“What did you say?” He snapped, his eyes flashing lightning bolts at me.

“Nothing. I said nothing…” I rolled my eyes away. “So, Mr. Winchester, what would you like me to do for you? What is this thing that made you pull me out from a peaceful relaxation?” I asked as nonchalant as possible.

He snorted. “Peaceful relaxation… indeed!" He stared at me for a few seconds and the rage I saw in his eyes sent shivers down my spine. “Or was there something keeping you relaxed?”

I knew it. It was Noah. He probably saw him kiss me he dropped me off. Was this jealousy?

I swallowed hard. I wanted to speak but couldn’t bring a word out. Not sure what to do with his unexpected question, but I didn’t think he was expecting an answer either.

“If you are not going to take your job seriously, then fucking peace out and don’t irritated me.” He said coldly, reaching for his phone that buzzed with an incoming call.

His tone and command gave me chill, but I managed to tamp down my lust. His words should rile me up, but rather it both turned me on and made me angry at the same time.  I didn’t know what to do with those conflicting emotions, so I stayed frozen in place.

Was if just jealousy or something else was wrong?

He was talking loud and angry over the phone. I saw his frustration, his raw vulnerability, I watched him tense up and shake with anger and there was  something else, something painful and buried way down deep.

He needed a shoulder, and fuck if I wouldn’t be the one to step in and provide him one.

“I don’t care what you need to do, you Fool… just fucking get it done.” He yelled at the person on the other end of the phone.

In a flash, he threw his cell phone across the room. The screen hit the ground and crashed onto the hard floor which made me startle.

What made him so mad? So much fury in one man.

My eyes trailed the phone as it bounced a few times, stopping in front of a red high heel shoes.

The sophisticated mystery woman.

“Well, hello my darling. Who got you so upset?” She asked Dalton. Her lips stretched into a broad smile.

“The conference is in exactly…” he looked at his watch, “ten minutes and the incompetent fool you hired isn’t here yet with those files.”

She leaned in and kissed him tenderly. “Please be calm, my sugar. I spoke with him some minutes ago. He is on his way.”  She ghosted another kiss on his lips and he kissed her back, deeply. “I have this under control.” She assured him, running her long glittery nails over his stubble affectionately.

Jealousy flooded my system, so much so that I was shaking.

I’d seen enough.

Gathering up my bag and phone, I got up to leave.  My heart couldn’t take any more.

I felt miserable and sorry for myself in the face of all those kisses and spit swapping.

He fucking did it right in front of me without remorse. No respect, no regards.

Did I really mean so little to him? Of course, I did. I’ve never meant anything to him. Why would it be different now?

As I made my way towards the exit door…

“You!… Hold on a second.” I halted to her command and slowly spun to face her.

"Yes!" I sounded almost rude.

“Oh, I remembered you from the other day. You must be his new Assistant. Here, take this.” She tossed her coat at my head. The fur trim blocked my view for a moment, and if that didn’t intensify the anger in me, I don’t know what would have.

I stared up at Dalton whose eyes hasn’t left me, expecting him to say something, but he never uttered a single word to my defense. What the hell was I expecting?

She gave me a meaningful look, clearly expecting me to get out of the office, and I wanted nothing more than to push her head against the wall and watch her bleed.

"No. I am a promoter."

She scoffed. "Oh please... Promoter, assistant, servants... What's the different. Please leave." She waved me off.

I took my walk of shame. not knowing what to do with the hurricane of emotions building inside me. I wanted to curse myself and thrash his office, maybe that would help, but instead, I left in a rush.

I raced down the empty hall and stopped in front of an elevator, pressing my back against the cool metal. I took several breaths and closed my eyes.

I didn’t want to think about what happened in there. Especially, the rightness of the moment… how perfect they looked together.

How dare i dream that someone like Dalton would settle for someone like me, someone beneath his level and prestige?
