Penelope
I was unable to believe my ears, my jaw slacked, and I stared at him frowning in confusion. His eyes scrutinised my face as he studied my expression.
He let out a laugh and folded his arms across his huge chest.
"I'm not really disabled, neither is my face scarred as you can see. You shouldn't believe everything you see on the internet."
What could be his reasons for pretending to be disabled? It definitely has something to do with the same reason why there was information on the internet about his family being bankrupt when they are not. I gathered myself together trying to process my thoughts when he started to walk to the other wardrobe which wasn't mine. Like he knew my eyes were trailing him, he halted and veered to face me.
"I brought you to the bed even though I dislike you, I couldn't help but feel pity for you. Just a heads up, don't think it is going to continue that way. And just because my grandfather likes you doesn't mean I will." His voice was stern as he spoke, his sea blue eyes bored into my green ones before he turned around and continued to walk to the wardrobe.
If I slept on the bed then where did he sleep? Hopefully not on the same bed. And it means he carried me in his arms, the thought of it gave me a feeling that I couldn't explain.
He turned to face me, a smirk tugging the side of his lips.
"I would never sleep on the same bed with you, especially since you love to practice karate while sleeping. You need sleeping lessons, you really do." His upper lips curled up slightly in scorn.
Embarrassment washed through me. Tyrell did have a badmouth.
Why did he have to see that? One thing I knew was that this wasn't going to be the last time he would taunt me about that. But he was kind enough to have let me sleep on the bed but there was no way I was going to tell him that. After all, he was the same person who humiliated me at the dining yesterday and because of that, I had to go to bed on an empty stomach.
"I didn't ask you to bring me to the bed. I would prefer to sleep on the floor a million times than have you carry me."
Surprised crossed his face and he let out a chuckle before nodding his head.
"Noted. But I'm sure you don't mean that."
Of course I didn't mean those words but my mouth couldn't just keep shut.
"I mean every word I just said." I lied but he didn't respond rather a self-satisfied smile marred his face before he turned his back to me.
My eyes were still on him but when I noticed that he was about to take off his towel, I averted my gaze and got off the bed. I ran into the bathroom afterward. I could hear his laughter from the bedroom.
How could he just want to get naked like that? Did he forget that someone else aside from him was in the room? Or he didn't just care, I probably gave him the idea that I was a pervert with my eyes lusting after his body earlier. It wasn't entirely my fault though, he was enticing and I couldn't help but look. He was a beautiful temptation.
I didn't know why but the thoughts of Richard came to my mind making my chest clench. I kind of blamed him for my predicament, my heart ached and I held onto my chest leaning against the bathroom wall, it was hurting so much.
Why did I have to think about Richard now? Tears rolled down my cheeks as I relived his and Mireya's announcement, and I found myself sobbing and plopping to the floor. I muffled my sobs burying my head into my thighs and hugging my knees. After crying till I could no longer find tears, I left the bathroom and walked into the room.
Tyrell had left, I concluded that since he was nowhere in the room. I took my towel and all I needed to have my bath and brush my teeth before going back into the bathroom. I didn't want to undress in the bedroom, I didn't want to risk Tyrell walking in on me naked and I couldn't lock the door since yesterday already taught me a lesson.
Once I was done taking a shower I got dressed. My stomach wambled loudly reminding me of how hungry I was, I needed to find something to eat but I honestly didn't want to end up getting embarrassed by Tyrell at the dining again.
I rolled my eyes reminiscing all that happened last night. My phone started to ring making me jolt out of my thoughts and stroll to the table where the phone was.
I picked it up and my heartbeat accelerated the moment I saw the caller ID, it was my Grandpa. Several thoughts flooded my mind. Did Oliver tell him anything? Or did he find out that I got married yesterday without telling him? I watched the phone ring till it disconnected without picking up. Shortly afterward, the phone started to ring again but this time I picked it up.
"Hello Grandpa," I smiled trying to make my voice cheerful.
"Pennie Sweetie, How are you?" His voice came. The calmness of his voice got me thinking and wondering if did he not know about the marriage. If he knew he could not be this calm.
"Are you there?" His voice interrupted my thoughts.
I nodded my head as though he could see me. "Yes, Grandpa. And I'm fine, how are you?"
"Very well as always," I could tell he had a big smile as he said the words.
"You should come over to the house as soon as you can, we need to talk."
I could only think of one thing he would want to talk about, my marriage. Did Oliver tell him? But he promised he wouldn't.
"Ok, grandpa. But is everything ok?" I inquired, I was very curious to know what it was he wanted to talk about.
"Don't worry about it, just come and we'll talk."
He hung up the call afterward.
I wanted to know what it was he wanted to talk about then I could brace myself for it and come up with answers to give him. I was just going to call Oliver and ask him if he told our grandpa anything.
I found Oliver's contact and dialled it but it wasn't reachable, I tried again and still got the same response. I heaved a breath, I just had to go over to Grandpa's place and find out for myself.
I could only hope that he knew nothing about my marriage, what was I going to tell him if he asked for my reasons for getting married without letting him know?
I slid my phone into my pants pockets and then grabbed my white sandals from the shoe rack and put them on before leaving the room.
My walk down to the living room was silent, the only thing I could hear were my footsteps. Great joy grew in me when I didn't see any of Tyrell's family members around, I just wasn't ready to face them after what happened yesterday. I had gotten closer to the door which was going to lead me outside and just as I was about to open it, Tyrell's annoying voice made me halt.
"Where do you think you are going?"
"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday to you," we started to sing the moment after Tyrell stepped into the room and we turned on the lights. A gigantic grin spread across his face as he listened to us sing the birthday song. "Happy birthday, baby. I love you." "I love you, babe," he smiled, leaning over for a kiss. "Happy birthday Daddy," Jason and Jasmine wished him. The rest of the family members wished Tyrell and we gave him our birthday presents. "Happy birthday, Tyrell." Inez wished him. I smiled, peering at Inez. Yes, she was here with us. She finished her studies two years ago, and she returned to the country. Blaze was still single; he told us he was going to wait for Inez no matter how long it was going to take. It was crazy but it was love. The spark was still there even after years; they started dating, and after a year, they got married. It had been four years since she left the country for her study. Inez was p
Penelope "Why do you find love matters funny? You had the same reaction when Layla and Ian told you about their marriage plans." I frowned seeing how heartily he was laughing. "I'm sorry for laughing but it's funny. Ace has feelings for Marie? Don't tell me you believe him?" "Of course I do, he sounded very serious." Tyrell scoffed," You might not know if, but Ace is a big-time playboy. You should warn Marie not to fall for his tricks.""Come on Ty. You yourself said Ace is changed. Why say all this about him now? He deserves a chance, doesn't he? He told me Marie thinks he is a jerk." A smile spread across Tyrell's face and he gave a tight nod the second I said Marie thinks Ace is a jerk. "Her thought is right. You should have warned him to stay away from Marie." Tyrell stated. "Ty, don't be like that Ty. The least you can do is be supportive.""I would have been supportive if I didn't know the kind of man Ace is." "I think his feelings are genuine Tyrell." "You think so?"
Penelope "Did I say something funny?" Ian's face crinkled in confusion as he watched Tyrell laugh heartily.I gawked at Tyrell, and he pressed his lips together in a bid to stop laughing, but it didn't help as he burst out laughing once again. He was probably thinking that Ian was joking about what he said. "Tyrell Ian is being serious, this isn't a joking matter. He proposed to me yesterday." Layla's mumbled raising her left hand to show the ring on it. Tyrell's eyebrows shot up, forming a high arch of astonishment," You both are serious?" "They are serious?" He glanced at me and I nodded. "They are serious." "Of course they are.""Wait, when did two even start dating that you want to get married?" Tyrell questioned his glances darting from Layla to Ian. "We started dating six months ago," Ian mumbled. "And you both didn't bother to tell us?" Tyrell murmured. "We should be happy for them, babe," I chipped in calmly,, shrugging my shoulder,s, and Tyrell sighed. "It's kind o
Penelope "Adrian was about to hit Penelope," Blaze told Tyrell. "What!" Tyrell's face contorted in anger and a frown took over his face. He went over to Blaze and pulled him away from Adrian who was begging to be spared. "Thank you. I...." Adrian didn't get to finish his statement because Tyrell bent over, smacked him on the face and then he grabbed him by the collar and pulled him up. Tyrell punched him in the face and kicked him; Adrian tried to free himself but didn't succeed; he then tried to retaliate but once again failed as Tyrell's pace wasn't something he could keep up with. "I'm sorry," Adrian apologised, clasping his hands together, but Tyrell was having none of it; he was furious and out of control. "Ty, that's enough. You are going to kill him." I let out. "I would love that. How dare he think that he could lay his hands on you? After what he did, he had no fear of coming here, did he? He should deal with whatever he gets.""He deserves it, but you are not a murdere
" I'm worried about Inez, she hasn't said a word ever since the doctor broke the news to her." "I am too, babe," Tyrell sighed, running his hands through his hair. We went over to Inez's place, and she had lost consciousness. By the time we got there, she was lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to the hospital, but her husband wasn't home; I didn't know how, but Tyrell had his contact; he called him up, but Adrian wasn't picking up; when Tyrell tried calling him again, his phone was switched off. I and Tyrell spent the night at the hospital; Inez was operated upon and moved to a private ward; she didn't regain consciousness until the next morning. The first thing that left Inez's mouth after she regained consciousness was, 'Where is Adrian?'Tears were rolling down Inez's cheeks, and her lips were trembling; she was staring into empty space. "Inez, it's going to be okay. Please stop crying," I mumbled, draping my arms around her and hugging her. She sobbed and I patted her bac
Penelope "Baby, are you okay? You seem distorted ever since Inez and her husband left." I forced a smile on my face and nodded my head. "I'm fine."How could I tell Tyrell that when I went after Inez after she followed Adrian, I saw him yelling at her, and then he raised his hand to hit her when she told him to stop yelling at her? He was shocked to see me that he said sorry to me but I was too stunned to say anything to him. He turned to Inez, said sorry and then embraced her and then kissed her before excusing himself and going back to the dining. I stared at Inez after her husband was gone, waiting for her to say something, but she said nothing, so I decided to speak up first. "Was he going to hit you?" I questioned, peering at her, but she chuckled. "No, it isn't what it seemed like. He was just... He was just..." She stammered, trying to come up with an excuse for him, but even she failed to find none. "He was just... Are you really trying to come up with an excuse for him
