Romano’s POV

The estate had been searched three times.

Every hallway.

Every staircase.

Every security blind spot.

Nothing, we couldn’t find the intruder or a body and that just proved whatever it was, wasn’t the best.

I stood inside the security room watching camera footage replay for the fourth time. The same section of wall, the same stretch of darkness, the same shadow moving briefly before disappearing and that could’ve been a guard.

“Could’ve been a false trigger,” one of the guar

Romano’s POVThe moment I saw the license plate, I knew exactly who the car belonged to.Moretti, I called Dante into my office and I showed him the license plate. “What are the chances?” Dante asked.“Not a coincidence.”Nothing about tonight felt like a coincidence. The estate had been watched, an intruder had appeared, everything was weird, now a Moretti vehicle was parked in the same mansion that belonged to Aria’s family, it wasn’t adding up.I wasn’t interested in coincidences anymore.I was interested in answers.“Find him,” I said.Dante nodded. It took less than forty minutes.Luca wasn’t difficult to locate. He was sitting alone at a small roadside restaurant near the highway when our men found him.By the time Dante and I arrived, Luca looked thoroughly confused, then he saw me and immediately looked concerned.“Where’s Aria?”That was the first thing he asked. Not hello. Not why am I here.Where’s Aria.Dante folded his arms.“Interesting choice of opening.”Luca frowned.

Romano’s POV The estate had been searched three times. “Could’ve been a false trigger,” one of the guards said. “No.” The answer left my mouth immediately, because my instincts were rarely wrong and the siren proved someone had been here. The problem was that whoever it was had managed to enter Romano Ciel’s property and leave without being caught. That wasn’t luck, that was proper planning. Dante folded his arms beside me. “Maybe they wanted us distracted.” I looked at him. “From what?” Before he could answer, one of the security officers rushed into the room. His face was very pale, m

Aria’s POV I got the permission I needed to let out the moans, I couldn’t help it. Romano stopped then let me down. “Have you done this before?” “Yes with Luca, he was my first” I saw his jaw tightened as I mentioned Luca. “Do you want to?” I stared at him for a second then pulled his shirt to bring his lips closer to me and I kissed him. I could feel his smile in between. “The Romano I am in bed is not the same Romano you see daily” “Let’s see it then” “I’m very controlling and dominant Aria, if you can’t take it, say the stop word” “What is it.” “Stop” He said rolling his eyes, cocky even in the bedroom. “Okay” “Okay” He walked me to his bed, while standing at the edge of his bed he started taking his night shirt off, he looked so ripped, his abs, biceps, he looked like it was carved into his skin, I was almost drooling. I stared at him and began taking off my night gown too. “No Aria, I’ll do that for you.” He said it in the most sexy way I could ever imagine.

  • Contract Wife for the Cartel Heir    Chapter Twenty-Five: Come Back to Me

Aria’s POV The storm had become worse. Rain hammered against the broken windows of the abandoned building while thunder shook the walls. Water dripped from the ceiling in several places and my shoes were completely soaked. This had been a mistake, a huge mistake. The problem was that admitting it wouldn’t magically make the answers appear. I stared at my phone again, no messages and no calls, nothing. The woman who had contacted me was never coming. The realization settled heavily in my chest. I had risked everything for another dead end. A loud door slammed somewhere behind me and I froze. Then footsteps echoed through the building, very fast. My heart immediately started racing, for one terrifying second I thought it might be whoever had been watching me. Then a familiar voice cut through the storm. “Aria.” Romano, and judging by his tone, he was furious. I turned around just as he appeared in the doorway. Rain soaked his dark shirt, his hair was wet and his expressi

  • Contract Wife for the Cartel Heir    Chapter Twenty-Four: The Beginning of Us

Aria’s POVSomething had changed. The strange thing was that nobody talked about it.Not me.Not Romano. Not even Dante, which was honestly impressive because Dante usually had an opinion about everything.Yet somehow the entire mansion felt different.Lighter.The tension that had existed between Romano and I for months had disappeared, replaced by something quieter, something neither of us seemed willing to name. For the first time since arriving at the mansion, I found myself looking forward to mornings.Mostly because Romano had developed a habit, every single morning without fail, breakfast appeared. Not breakfast for the household.Breakfast for me.My favorite tea, the fruit I liked, the pastries I always stole from the kitchen. The first time it happened, I assumed it was coincidence. The second time, I suspected the chef. The third time, I caught Dante laughing. That was how I found out.Romano had personally instructed the kitchen.Naturally, I intended to make his life diff

  • Contract Wife for the Cartel Heir    Chapter Twenty-Three: Confessions

Romano’s POV The investigation went nowhere. Three days. Three sleepless nights. Three days of reports, surveillance footage, interviews, dead leads and growing frustration. Nothing. Whoever had arranged the attack on Aria knew exactly what they were doing. Every trail disappeared, every commoner witness remembered nothing, every camera seemed to fail at the perfect moment. It felt deliberate and calculated and I hated it because I hate when there’s something I can’t control, it hardly ever happens to me. Now I have someone in my life, who I couldn’t protect completely someone who had become far more important than she should have. The thought of not being able to protect her irritated me immediately. A knock sounded against the office door. “Come in.” Dante entered carrying another file and I didn’t even bother looking up. “If it’s another dead end, save your breath.” Dante dropped the folder onto the desk. “It is.” Wonderful, I rubbed my eyes. For the first time i

Enzo’s POV The guard stood silently beside him, waiting for instructions. The old man remained seated behind his desk, a glass of whiskey untouched in front of him. Through the massive window behind him, Milan glittered beneath the night sky. “Was she injured?” Enzo asked. “No, sir.” A small n

Romano’s POV Nobody spoke for several seconds after Dante’s revelation. The room felt suffocating. Aria isn’t just connected to the Vale family, she’s the last living Vale heir.
