Vanya's POV
The moment I finished speaking, Cliff's eyes widened in shock.
Until now, I had always followed his decisions without question, executing his wishes flawlessly. So this time, he had merely given me a casual explanation, never expecting me to challenge him.
"I already told you, this is a necessary choice for the stability of my wolf. You are still my Luna..." Cliff frowned, repeating the same excuse he had used countless times before.
I had heard this reasoning too many times. Right now, he might not love Melinda, but no werewolf can resist the pull of a true mate. He had promised that once his wolf stabilized, he would reject her. But as time passed, their interactions only deepened, and eventually, he fell completely in love with her. In the end, he even marked her.
Yet, he knew I was a capable Luna, so he never rejected me. Instead, every time he wanted to be with Melinda, he would use his wolf as an excuse.
I closed my eyes slowly, trying to escape this cruel reality, but the pain surged over me like an unstoppable tide.
Once, I had devoted everything to the prosperity of this pack—working tirelessly, sacrificing my time and energy. But who would have thought that my dedication would become my greatest weakness?
I will not make the same mistake again.
Melinda, the woman who had brought me so much pain and suffering, must be removed from my life—immediately.
I thought back to the past. Cliff had once given me the right to choose, but I had been too naive, making a foolish decision. I had allowed Melinda to exist between us, weakening my wolf in the process.
Cliff waited a few seconds for my response. When I didn’t answer right away, he lost patience.
"Beta Elliot, find a guest room for Melinda," he ordered.
"I did not agree to this," I said firmly.
The room fell silent as all the pack members turned to look at me.
"What?" Cliff sounded as if he hadn’t heard me correctly.
"I said no," I repeated, locking eyes with my mate, my gaze cold and unwavering.
"We discussed this before, and we had an agreement," I continued. "She can be your student, but she cannot stay here. And that was under the condition that you would reject her. Or is this just an announcement, rather than a discussion? Does my opinion as Luna not matter to you?"
A question had been lingering in my mind—why was Cliff bringing this up in front of everyone?
But now was not the time to dwell on it. There was something more urgent at hand.
"Vanya..." Cliff’s tone softened as he called my name, stepping forward slightly to shield Melinda behind him.
"I am discussing this with you, but you have to understand—I am the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. If my wolf weakens, it will have a significant impact on the pack."
"We are in Seattle," I countered. "This is a modern city, and the Silver Moon Pack runs a well-managed business. The company won’t crumble just because your wolf is struggling. I know rejecting your true mate is painful, but we consulted the witches. The pain and weakness are temporary. I will be by your side."
Because we had sworn our bond before the Moon Goddess, my wolf, Selena, had the power to influence our mate—at least to some degree.
Cliff hesitated, mumbling, his tone less firm than before. "Of course, I understand... I just want what’s best for the pack."
I remained silent, watching him quietly. Then, ever so slightly, I released my Luna aura—a calming presence that affected all pack members.
"Melinda, you see how things are," Cliff said, turning to her. "You can’t stay in the Silver Moon Pack. I’ll have Beta Elliot find you an apartment in Seattle."
"I, Cliff, Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, reject—"
Before he could finish, Melinda collapsed to her knees, sobbing.
"Please, don’t do this," she cried, tears streaming down her face. Then, she turned to me.
"Luna Vanya, please forgive me! I never wanted to steal your mate! But I am just a rogue. If I am rejected, I will grow weak and die. I swear, I only want to stay here for a short time to learn. Then, I will leave Seattle—I’ll even go abroad!"
Cliff froze, unable to bring himself to reject his fragile, pleading mate.
In that instant, I knew—it was over.
"Please, Alpha! Luna!" Melinda sobbed desperately.
I met her gaze and saw it—the hatred she tried so hard to hide.
Her acting wasn’t even that convincing. But Cliff was already ensnared.
Silence filled the room, broken only by Melinda’s pitiful cries. But for my own survival, I had to stand firm.
"Beta Elliot, escort her out," I commanded.
"And arrange for her housing—"
Before I could finish, a furious roar cut through the air.
"That’s it!" Cliff's voice thundered. His eyes glowed red—his wolf on the verge of losing control.
"You need to chill down," I said sharply.
But he roared again, his rage boiling over.
"Enough is enough!"
In a blur, he was at Melinda’s side, lifting her into his arms.
"She stays!" he declared. "We’ll figure it out!"
Third Person's POVZander looked like a normal person on the outside, but he was ruthless at his core. Now that her attempt to frame Vanya had failed, Melinda was not only disgraced but had also lost her biggest bargaining chip.Without Cliff's protection, Zander would definitely kill her.Looking at the desperate Melinda, Cliff was suddenly reminded of Vanya begging him to stay.It was right after they got mated. He never came home and had seen Vanya so few times. That night, Vanya had grabbed his sleeve, her eyes pleading. "Cliff, please stay tonight, okay?"But back then, he had only looked at her with indifference. He had shoved her hand away and left, leaving her with only the cold sound of the door closing.Suddenly, a flash of an image came to his mind: the bite marks on Vanya's neck and the ice-cold look in her eyes as she said, "Cliff, I don't love you anymore."Those words felt like a heavy blow to his h
Third Person's POVMelinda was stunned.Vanya? Why would Vanya be so kind as to tell Cliff to come see her?It must be because she wanted him to see her humiliated!Melinda bit her lip. "Cliff, I was forced to do it! What mother would willingly give up her baby? Zander forced me! He told me to frame Luna Vanya, and I was too scared not to listen to him!"Cliff looked at Melinda, unmoved by her acting. He had been fooled by her "kindness and weakness" before, but after seeing her true colors, he would never feel sympathy for her again."I don't care about your relationship with Zander, and I don't care what he's planning. I'm just going to warn you—don't ever get an idea to harm Vanya again. If you do, I will make you pay."Cliff's tone wasn't a joke. Melinda's face fell."Cliff, we had a relationship. We..."Melinda tried to appeal to his emotions, but Cliff gave her a cold, dangerous look.Melinda im
Third Person's POVThe moment Denis finished speaking, Cliff gave him a cold stare. "She caused a scene at the Todds mansion and framed Vanya. All you have to do is make a big show of taking her in. You don't have to worry about anything else. You can even release her the same day."Denis was still confused, but Cliff had already made his instructions clear.Denis thought about it and suddenly said, "I understand! I'll send someone to the hospital tomorrow morning and bring Ms. Chambers back to the police station for a statement. After all, if Ms. Chambers fell by accident, then it's no one else's fault. But if she didn't fall on her own, and someone deliberately..."Denis thought he had guessed Cliff's intention, thinking that Cliff wanted him to frame Vanya for harming Melinda's baby.If Vanya had pushed Melinda and she hadn't intentionally thrown herself down the stairs, Vanya would be responsible for the assault. Before he could finish,
Third Person's POVAt that auction, he saw Vanya in a red dress. It was the first time she hadn't copied anyone else's style. She was just herself: confident, radiant, and graceful. It was then that he truly saw her for the first time.Cliff pursed his lips. "I'm sorry for how I treated you. I can make it up to you. Can we start over?""Cliff, there's no going back for us."Vanya's voice was calm. "You probably have a lot to deal with, so I'll leave you to it."Cliff clenched his fists. "I will never agree to a divorce! I won't let you be with Theodore! You're my mate and only my mate!""A marriage certificate can't hold me, Cliff. You don't sound like the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack anymore."With that, Vanya turned and left.Cliff stood there, a look of self-mockery on his face.He knew he wasn't acting like an Alpha.Silver Moon required its Alpha to put the family's interests first. Third Person's POVCliff turned to Zander and Cyrus, his voice cold. "Both of you, please leave."The dismissal was direct.Cyrus felt humiliated, but while he would dare to get angry with Veronica, he wouldn't disrespect Cliff.Seeing this, Zander decided to leave and helped Cyrus out."Alpha Zander," Vanya suddenly said, and Zander stopped. "Take care. We won't see you out."Zander shot Vanya a cold glance.Cyrus felt something was off between Vanya and Zander, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He let Zander lead him out.Once they were all gone, Cliff walked up to Vanya. He hesitated, then asked, "Are you hurt?""I'm fine. You should be more concerned about your own child," Vanya replied coldly.Cliff frowned. "I never said I would marry her."An awkward silence hung in the air. Denis, standing nearby, felt uncomfortable. He said, "Um... how about you go on ahead? I'll just wait upstairs."
Third Person's POVVeronica's eyes widened when she saw Jenny. "Jenny?"Vanya took the phone. She quickly found the security footage of her meeting with Melinda and handed the device to Denis."Denis, is this evidence enough?"Denis's expression changed as he watched the video.Vanya looked at the crowd. "I'm sure it's hard to see. Let's use the Todds' projector to make it clearer for everyone."She gave Jenny a look, and Jenny quickly turned on the projector connected to the TV.With a few taps on her phone, Vanya pulled up a terrifying scene. The footage clearly showed Melinda grabbing Vanya's arm and then throwing herself down the stairs.Sabrina gasped, covering her mouth. She couldn't believe a mother would be so ruthless with her own child."This... this is awful. She'd use her own baby to frame her rival.""I knew that woman was no good. She only got where she is by being a home-wrecker. She'd
