Vanya's POV
"Luna Vanya! Are you here?" Elliot's voice echoed on the outskirts of the Shadow Forest. I regained control of my body and sprinted towards the sound. But my mind was filled with confusion about the giant wolf I had just encountered. Who was it, and why did it appear here? After running for a while, I saw Elliot's figure. I slowed my pace and stopped behind a giant tree trunk to shift back into my human form. The process was more difficult than usual. It felt as if the forces within me had been tearing at each other. Selena seemed to have fallen into a deep slumber, unresponsive to my attempts to rouse her. I dressed casually, and Beta Elliot arrived just in time. He scrutinized me carefully to ensure I was unharmed before gently adjusting my clothes. Then, he squatted down to help me put on my shoes with care and skill. His eyes were always filled with a hint of concern. "Did you shift? What did you do in the Shadow Forest?" he asked softly. His gaze fixed on me, as if trying to decipher my true thoughts. "I sensed a strange presence in the Shadow Forest. The situation between packs is already unstable. Any little disturbance could trigger a greater crisis," I replied. I omitted the information about the giant wolf. Its appearance was too suspicious, and I vaguely felt it had something to do with me. Elliot nodded slightly, his brows still furrowed. "You're right. I'll arrange more patrols immediately to strengthen the border and forest surveillance. But you must be extra careful. I know Alpha Cliff's decision has put you in a very difficult position, but don't do anything drastic." I looked at him with some surprise. Before my rebirth, when I was in trouble, he didn't join others in kicking me when I was down, but he never expressed such direct support for me either. Back then, I felt abandoned by the world, struggling alone in the dark. Now, Elliot showed his sympathy for me clearly. "Don't worry," I nodded in response. I turned and walked back towards the pack. Upon returning, I went straight to the bedroom Cliff and I shared. Pushing the door open, the room was filled with a familiar yet strange scent. Cliff wasn't there, and I felt no emotional ripples. The love I once had for him had long been eroded by his betrayal. I slowly approached the vanity table, sat down, and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes showed fatigue and determination. Unbidden, my thoughts drifted back to my past life, the painful memories flooding back like a tide. But I was no longer that helpless me. This time, I would change my destiny. In the evening, after freshening up, I prepared to lie down and rest. At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Cliff walked in. He glanced at me and headed straight for the bed, seemingly intending to rest as usual. I frowned and said coldly, "What are you doing? Get out." Cliff looked at me impatiently, "What's the matter with you? This is my room, our room." I stared at him expressionlessly, "Your room? From the moment you decided to keep Melinda, you were no longer welcome here." His eyes widened in surprise, as if he couldn't believe I would say such a thing. In his impression, I had always been a gentle and compliant partner. "Vanya, I've already explained to you. I just need Melinda to stay to stabilize my wolf. It's for the sake of the entire pack. You must understand me," he said with a hint of helplessness in his tone. I waved my hand indifferently, "Whatever you say, I don't want to hear it. Do whatever you want." Cliff took a step forward and continued, "After Melinda has learned for a while, I will find a suitable pack for her and send her away from Seattle. Just bear with it a little longer." I said nonchalantly, "Got it, you can leave." "Luna Vanya!" Cliff called my title impatiently, his voice carrying a hint of threat and warning. I could clearly sense him exerting his Alpha aura. But my wolf had no intention of submitting. "Do you want to fully unleash your Alpha aura on your Luna here?" I asked with a cold smile. His face turned a bit ugly, clearly angered by my attitude. He glared at me fiercely before turning and leaving the room, slamming the door shut. I looked at the closed door, immediately picked up my phone, and dialed Theodore Kimmons. Currently, he was just an ordinary werewolf who ran a medium-sized company. But I knew he was actually the illegitimate son of the Lycan King. However, this secret had not yet been revealed. Soon, a deep voice came from the other end of the phone, "Hello?" "Theodore, it's me, Vanya," I said. He was obviously surprised, "Why are you contacting me? I don't remember us being friends." I took a deep breath and said slowly, "I need your help now." There was a moment of silence on the other end, followed by Theodore's curious voice, "You must be joking. What help can I offer you?" I replied calmly, "I hope you can give me an invitation to the pack gathering in a few days. It's very important to me."Third Person's POVVanya froze, certain she hadn't misheard—Edwin had mentioned M Group, not Dalton Group. It turned out Edwin did know she was the one behind M Group."Mr. Hammond..." Vanya began, but Edwin cut her off."I dislike beating around the bush. Don't deny your ties to M Group. I wouldn't have presented this contract without absolute certainty."With Edwin's bluntness, Vanya dispensed with pretense. "How exactly do we cooperate?""It's a long-term strategic partnership. The Hammond Group plans to launch a joint project with M. We'll benefit mutually and expand our presence in Los Angeles."Vanya frowned. The Hammond Group, with its centuries-old legacy, shouldn't need to partner with anyone. As long as the Hammond Group existed, it was the established brand here. No one would ever question the name "Hammond."Yet Edwin's proposal seemed to favor her side.M Group stood to gain significantly from this collaboration, effectively aligning with the formidable Hammond family.Wi
Third Person's POVThe EliteHaven Hotel, a Hammond family asset, had never tolerated disruptions on its premises.Melinda, an outsider to their circle, was understandably unaware of this unwritten rule. While the hotel might turn a blind eye to common incidents, any deliberate disturbance by a figure from their social sphere would incur severe repercussions.Given Melinda's current status as a Todd Group affiliate and her pregnancy with Cliff's child, any accountability for her outburst would ultimately land at the Todd Group's door."Melinda..." Edwin paused contemplatively before dismissing the name with a shrug. "I don't recall her."Vanya was taken aback. She had never expected Edwin to say such a thing. The scandal surrounding Cliff and Melinda had been all the rage, yet Edwin claimed no memory of her. Moreover, Edwin had encountered Melinda before—when she had slandered Wilmot. How could he have no memory of her?Sensing Vanya's surprise, Edwin coolly explained, "I don't bother
Third Person's POVVanya stood rooted to the spot as Melinda shot her a triumphant smile. What if Cliff had feelings for her?In the end, wouldn't he still prioritize Melinda?Watching Cliff carry Melinda away, Vanya wasn't thinking about the onlookers' judgmental stares. Her mind drifted to a bitter what-if: if only Cliff had been this responsible toward her child in her past life, perhaps she wouldn't have lost it.People were different, after all.In Cliff's eyes, no matter how vile Melinda was, the child in her womb was still precious.Vanya slowly exited the restaurant. As she reached the door, a woman's voice cut through the air, "Sir, are you alright? Let me help you up!"Following the voice, Vanya saw a familiar figure in a semi-tilted wheelchair in a nearby corner. She froze— it was Edwin. She suddenly recalled that EliteHaven was a Hammond family hotel. It wasn't strange to see Edwin here at night.
Third Person's POVCliff's Alpha aura eased slightly, replaced by pheromones laced with reassurance, as he tried to coax Vanya's resistance into submission.Hearing this, Vanya stilled, ceasing her struggle and letting Cliff hold her, though the cold aura around her remained undiminished.Noticing her stillness, a flicker of joy ignited in Cliff's eyes—only to be doused instantly by Vanya's chilling reply, "I let you go because you had nothing to do with that incident. That's all."Her words doused Cliff's hope like a bucket of ice water. His grip on Vanya tightened reflexively, the wolf hair on his knuckles growing darker.Meanwhile, the driver had delivered Melinda to the hotel entrance.Through the window, Melinda spotted Cliff embracing Vanya from behind. Jealousy blazed in her eyes like wildfire. Her wolfish agitation pheromones, tinged with cheap perfume, erupted uncontrollably—an aggressive stench.Clu
Third Person's POVDusk fell. Melinda set a table full of dishes, waiting for Cliff to return. As the clock struck seven, a car pulled into the Silver Moon Pack's driveway.Melinda flung open the door, beaming, only to see the driver step out."Where's Cliff? Why isn't he back?" she asked. The driver replied, "Alpha Cliff has business tonight. He said to tell you and Madam Todd not to wait up for dinner.""Where's he headed?" Melinda pressed."Seems like he's meeting Luna Vanya," the driver said.At the mention of Cliff meeting Vanya, Melinda's fists clenched.Despite Vanya's utter disregard for Cliff, he remained fixated on her."Do you know the location?" Melinda asked."EliteHaven Hotel," the driver answered."Hotel?" The image of Cliff and Vanya in a compromising situation flashed through Melinda's mind."I just realized I need to find Alpha Cliff right now. Take me to EliteHaven right awa
Third Person's POV"Vanya! Something's happened at Todd!" Stewart exclaimed as he rushed into Vanya's office.Judging by Stewart's excitement, Vanya knew it was good news. "What happened at Todd this time?" she asked."I heard a worker jumped off their construction site. The building's been labeled non-compliant, and they're facing a loss of hundreds of millions."A faint smile spread across Vanya's face. The time had come.At the Todd Group's front desk, phones were ringing nonstop, and the conference room was in chaos."How could a worker suddenly jump? Who's in charge of this project?" a director fumed.Cliff pushed the door open, and the room fell silent."Alpha Cliff! You've gotta do something! The finance department can't come up with hundreds of millions to support this project. If it falls through now, it'll be disastrous!""Todd can afford this loss," Cliff said calmly.Cliff's voice was calm and collecte
