LOGINVanya's POV
"Luna Vanya! Are you here?" Elliot's voice echoed on the outskirts of the Shadow Forest. I regained control of my body and sprinted towards the sound. But my mind was filled with confusion about the giant wolf I had just encountered. Who was it, and why did it appear here? After running for a while, I saw Elliot's figure. I slowed my pace and stopped behind a giant tree trunk to shift back into my human form. The process was more difficult than usual. It felt as if the forces within me had been tearing at each other. Selena seemed to have fallen into a deep slumber, unresponsive to my attempts to rouse her. I dressed casually, and Beta Elliot arrived just in time. He scrutinized me carefully to ensure I was unharmed before gently adjusting my clothes. Then, he squatted down to help me put on my shoes with care and skill. His eyes were always filled with a hint of concern. "Did you shift? What did you do in the Shadow Forest?" he asked softly. His gaze fixed on me, as if trying to decipher my true thoughts. "I sensed a strange presence in the Shadow Forest. The situation between packs is already unstable. Any little disturbance could trigger a greater crisis," I replied. I omitted the information about the giant wolf. Its appearance was too suspicious, and I vaguely felt it had something to do with me. Elliot nodded slightly, his brows still furrowed. "You're right. I'll arrange more patrols immediately to strengthen the border and forest surveillance. But you must be extra careful. I know Alpha Cliff's decision has put you in a very difficult position, but don't do anything drastic." I looked at him with some surprise. Before my rebirth, when I was in trouble, he didn't join others in kicking me when I was down, but he never expressed such direct support for me either. Back then, I felt abandoned by the world, struggling alone in the dark. Now, Elliot showed his sympathy for me clearly. "Don't worry," I nodded in response. I turned and walked back towards the pack. Upon returning, I went straight to the bedroom Cliff and I shared. Pushing the door open, the room was filled with a familiar yet strange scent. Cliff wasn't there, and I felt no emotional ripples. The love I once had for him had long been eroded by his betrayal. I slowly approached the vanity table, sat down, and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes showed fatigue and determination. Unbidden, my thoughts drifted back to my past life, the painful memories flooding back like a tide. But I was no longer that helpless me. This time, I would change my destiny. In the evening, after freshening up, I prepared to lie down and rest. At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Cliff walked in. He glanced at me and headed straight for the bed, seemingly intending to rest as usual. I frowned and said coldly, "What are you doing? Get out." Cliff looked at me impatiently, "What's the matter with you? This is my room, our room." I stared at him expressionlessly, "Your room? From the moment you decided to keep Melinda, you were no longer welcome here." His eyes widened in surprise, as if he couldn't believe I would say such a thing. In his impression, I had always been a gentle and compliant partner. "Vanya, I've already explained to you. I just need Melinda to stay to stabilize my wolf. It's for the sake of the entire pack. You must understand me," he said with a hint of helplessness in his tone. I waved my hand indifferently, "Whatever you say, I don't want to hear it. Do whatever you want." Cliff took a step forward and continued, "After Melinda has learned for a while, I will find a suitable pack for her and send her away from Seattle. Just bear with it a little longer." I said nonchalantly, "Got it, you can leave." "Luna Vanya!" Cliff called my title impatiently, his voice carrying a hint of threat and warning. I could clearly sense him exerting his Alpha aura. But my wolf had no intention of submitting. "Do you want to fully unleash your Alpha aura on your Luna here?" I asked with a cold smile. His face turned a bit ugly, clearly angered by my attitude. He glared at me fiercely before turning and leaving the room, slamming the door shut. I looked at the closed door, immediately picked up my phone, and dialed Theodore Kimmons. Currently, he was just an ordinary werewolf who ran a medium-sized company. But I knew he was actually the illegitimate son of the Lycan King. However, this secret had not yet been revealed. Soon, a deep voice came from the other end of the phone, "Hello?" "Theodore, it's me, Vanya," I said. He was obviously surprised, "Why are you contacting me? I don't remember us being friends." I took a deep breath and said slowly, "I need your help now." There was a moment of silence on the other end, followed by Theodore's curious voice, "You must be joking. What help can I offer you?" I replied calmly, "I hope you can give me an invitation to the pack gathering in a few days. It's very important to me."Third Person's POVThe ballroom's noise seemed to cut off entirely, and the air between the two men became instantly charged.Calvert heard the question. A faint, yet intensely penetrating smile played on his lips. He gently rubbed the side of his glass, the wine shimmering. He looked up at Cliff, his eyes holding a knowing sharpness, as if he had expected this question. "Alpha Cliff, you invited Kendrick simply to meet the M Group's power-holder."He deliberately slowed his speech, his voice low and rich, carrying an unquestionable certainty. Every word fell clearly on Cliff and Elliot. "I am standing here now, not as 'Calvert the Movie Star.' Alpha Cliff, you should understand my meaning."Whoosh.Elliot's pupils contracted sharply. The document in his hand nearly slipped. His breathing hitched. He snapped his head toward Calvert, then back to Cliff, his eyes wide with disbelief.Could it be... was Calvert the real boss behind the M Group?
Third Person's POVMelinda was startled by his intensity. She instinctively shrunk back, her lips trembling. She didn't dare say another word, retreating sheepishly to the side, the resentment in her eyes like a small flame she had to stifle.Cyrus stood up, tidied his suit jacket, and put on his fawning smile again. "Fine, six months it is. I trust you are a man of your word, Alpha Cliff. Don't disappoint me."Cliff simply nodded. "Sure." He gave Elliot a look.Elliot immediately pulled a protocol agreement with a gold-stamped cover from his briefcase. He handed it to Cyrus, his tone reassuring. "While an engagement isn't possible for now, this cooperation agreement is signed. From now on, Chambers Group will have priority cooperation with Todd Group, Mr. Chambers. You can rest assured."Cyrus's eyes lit up at the words "cooperation agreement." Cooperation with Todd Group was far more reliable than clinging to Zander! With the Todds' resources, Ch
Third Person's POV"But that's not what you agreed to!" Cyrus slammed his hand on the desk. The whiskey in the glass rattled and sloshed over the rim."You clearly said you'd give her an explanation!"Cliff lifted an eyelid. His voice was still calm, but it carried an undeniable sense of oppression. "I only promised to take care of Miss Chambers for the rest of her life. I never said I would marry her.""You!" Cyrus was shaking with rage. He pointed at Cliff, speechless. When Cliff had said that, Cyrus had thought he was being shy. Seeing the gala planned for the next day, he'd jumped to the conclusion that the engagement was certain. He never expected to be given such a "surprise" at such an important event."Cliff, I lost my baby for you!"Melinda collapsed onto the armrest of the sofa, covering her face and sobbing, her shoulders shaking violently. "You promised me in the hospital that you'd compensate me! How could you do t
Third Person's POVInside the Todds' mansion, Cyrus was practically dragging Melinda up the stairs by the wrist. His fingers dug in hard, leaving her wrist red.Melinda stumbled along, tear tracks on her face, muttering, "Dad, Cliff must have been tricked by Vanya. He promised me...""Shut up!" Cyrus snarled, his face furious, his pace hurried. His only thought was how to salvage the situation. If he lost the connection with the Todds, the Chambers was truly done.Vanya watched them leave, gently tracing the rim of her glass. Her tone was as calm as a weather report. "You handle your business. I'm going downstairs."Cliff simply nodded, his eyes following her as she turned. A flicker of complexity crossed his gaze, but it quickly returned to its cold, remote state. As Vanya reached the main floor, Calvert and Bryant rushed toward her.Calvert grabbed her arm, his eyes filled with anxiety and worry. "What happened? Why di
Third Person's POV"Why would I wait? To watch them play the 'deeply devoted father and daughter' act?" Zander's footsteps didn't slow. His face was dark with anger, and his knuckles were white from clenching his fists.Vincent didn't give up. "But Ella just fainted. When she wakes up, we can find a chance to get her and Cyrus to do a DNA test. Once Cyrus knows the truth...""Idiot!" Zander stopped abruptly and turned to look at him.His eyes were burning with rage. "Can't you see? Cyrus knew all along that Melinda wasn't his daughter!"Vincent froze, his eyes wide. "Wh-what? How is that possible?"He had always believed Cyrus was fooled by Melinda, but he hadn't expected him to be complicit."Nothing is impossible," Zander said, his voice dropping as he looked toward the direction of the Todds mansion."To him, the Chambers family's interests are far more important than a 'tainted' biological daughter. Today's farce was just t
Third Person's POVThat ring was her only comfort in prison, but Melinda had tricked her out of it with a promise to "find your father," only to vanish without a trace. The statement hit the room like a depth charge, creating a profound silence.Melinda's arrest for financial fraud had been public, but she was "released on bail" shortly after.People had assumed the Chambers paid for her freedom. Now, with Ella's accusation, everyone's gaze turned sharp and probing, focusing on Melinda.Melinda's face flashed white, but she quickly composed herself. "So you say I tricked you out of a ring to get out of jail. But what about you? Why were you in jail?"She paused, sweeping her gaze across the guests, clearly intending to crush Ella entirely.Ella's face instantly flushed, then rapidly paled. Her lips trembled. She clenched the hem of her faded T-shirt. Her time in prison was a painful scar she never spoke of, and now it wa
