Chapter eight

Ava was not surprised by how Jane sounded,she knew how worried she was for her.

" Calm down Jane... I'm fine" Ava said to Jane trying to calm her down.

" How can you be fine,I heard what happened at the party....that bitch and her mother can't just let you be". Jane said sounding angry. " Where are you right now?... I need to be sure you're fine" she continued.

" I'm at my apartment...but I'm okay you don't need to.."

" I'm on my way now". Jane said without giving Ava any chance to complete her statement. Ava could only let out a sigh,Jane always acted this way whenever it came to matters concerning her, she was the only one who really cared about Ava.

Ava was a little worried because she didn't know how to break the new of her marriage to her best friend, she didn't know how Jane will react upon hearing it.

Just as she was thinking of how to break the news to Jane she heard a knock on the door. She opened the door and was surprised to see Jane.

" Well that was fast" Ava said as she moved to let Jane in.

" I was just around the block so I quickly rushed over" Jane said as she removed her jacket and moved to make coffee for them.

" I'm sorry I wasn't there with you when it all happened,I was caught up in traffic on my way there and when I arrived they told me about what happened and that you had already left" Jane said feeling sorry. She handed Ava the cup of coffee she had just brewed.

" It's alright girl, it's not your fault" Ava said trying to calm her best friend.

" No.. it's all my fault,if I was there with you all this would not have happened" Jane said while looking at Ava with guilt written all over your face.

"Let's just let that be,it was nobody's fault. Anyways I have something to tell you" Ava said as she took a sip of her coffee.

" And what's that?" Jane asked sounding curious as she also sipped her coffee.

" I got married" Ava said to Jane. Jane almost choked on the coffee in her mouth out of shock.

" I'm sorry.. what did I just hear,did you just say you got married?" Jane asked looking at Ava with eyes wide. " That's a joke right..you just said that to pull my legs" Jane asked Ava staring at her in shock as she waited for Ava to say something to prove her right.

When she didn't get any answer from Ava,she realised she was telling the truth.

" You're really married... when? How? Who?" Jane kept firing questions at Ava without waiting for any answer. " Tell me all about it without leaving out any detail" Jane said trying to calm herself as she moved to sit down.

Ava sat beside her and told Jane how it all happened, right from the incident at the club to the date down to how she got married. By the time she was done telling Jane,she was left speechless. Jane stared at Ava for a while before she finally said something.

" Wait a minute... this is all not making sense. You mean to tell me that you met this man at the club,he took you to s hotel,you met the same man at your date, he came to the wedding and now you both are married?? Jane said analysing all she heard. Ava nodded her head in agreement without saying anything.

" You got married to a total stranger just after three encounter...wow I'm totally surprised Ava"

" I wasn't really thinking straight at that time, I was clouded with the thought of getting revenge on Clara" Ava said now regretting her actions.

" Hmm.... well the deed has been done and there's no going back,I just hope you made the right decision" Jane said to her friend. " But wow,I can't still believe you're married. Just this morning I was speaking with my single friend and all of a sudden you're married. This life is really unpredictable" she continued.

Ava just sat there listening to Jane without saying anything. Now that she thought of it,she might had just made a rash decision out of anger. And to think that she didn't know anything about this man who is now her husband made her feel uneasy.

" So tell me, what's his name...who is this man you got married to" Jane switched to her detective mode and began to ask Ava questions.

" I don't really know much about him but his name is Elias" Ava answered.

"Hmmm,never heard of that name before" Jane said. " So how does he look?, Is he rich?, What is the nature of his job?" She asked.

" I have no idea,but he seemed rich. I mean, with the way he carried himself and all,he looked like he came from a well to do family" Ava answered.

"Well how does he look...is he handsome or you got married to an old man?" Jane asked playfully.

" Now that you mentioned it, I didn't even pay attention to his look,but I'm so sure he isn't ugly or old.." Ava said.

" What's his last name,I could search him up on the internet" Jane asked as she brought out her phone ready to dig out information.

" I can't remember...but wait,I think I have his card with me" Ava said as she stood up and went to her bag to retrieve the card that Elias had dropped that day at the so called date.

She came back with the card and handed it over to Jane. When Jane looked at the card,she screamed.

" Jesus Christ Ava!..where did you get this card from?" She asked looking at Ava in shock.

" What happened to it,he gave it to me. What is written on the card" Ava asked looking confused as to why her friend reacted that way.

" This card belongs to Elias Ward...as in Elias Ward the CEO of Ward industries!" Jane said almost shouting at the top of her voice.

" Hold on,if you got this card from him this only means one thing....your husband is Elias Ward the CEO of Ward industries!....
